Postcards from Glendale
Taking advantage of what will likely be a one-time quirk in our schedules, team grp headed out this week for a western swing of baseball and national parks. By chance, it also turned out to be an opportunity to watch the good guys as well as have an early look at the Sox 2011 meth-up opponent - the Dodgers. (Hey, get that $$$ into hsa!)

Snapshots from Sunday afternoon
Hey folks. As promised, some pix and random thoughts about the UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE ballgame at Fenway Sunday afternoon. Some of you have written about it already and most of you have seen it and there's also the fact that I can't be too wordy with a couple lectures to look over for the first day of class tomorrow, so here you go:
Kotsay and Teahen discussing the rumor they heard that the next Sox number retirement ceremony is for a guy named 'Mark'.
The view from our SRO "seat" at the very top of the grandstand. (innings 1-7) I am not one of the people that so glibly call the place "a dump".

"Wait till next year" for G.I. Joe's.
The joy in my household with today's Sox victory #10 in a row was tempered a bit with a tough loss to LaSalle Bakery for my plucky Little Leaguers. (Fortunately, we were able to go completely bat-shit crazy for a few minutes after seeing Q!'s homer before leaving for our game.) The victory clinched the championship for LaSalle in the best of 3 series. We just didn't have enough hitting to overcome our season long defensive butchery. Sadly, our right fielder was DFA'd after the game.
There once was a game in Pawtucket … (make sure you don’t say the "w")
I've finally gotten a chance to scribble together my Meet-up promised, random notes report of a base-ball game of some possible interest to SSS readers.
Yesterday on a gorgeous Memorial Day I brought my son to the game between the AAA Knights and the local "Paw Sox" (for some reason, here, it's ok to say the "w"). btw, McCoy Stadium in little Rhody is really a gem, they do a great job with that old-timey baseball feel, cheap tix, great food, and being only 40 miles from Boston you always have a really good chance of seeing a Red Sox doing a rehab stint. I go to 4-5 games a year and have seen Boggs, Clemens, Canseco, Wakefield at various times. Ellsbury hit a triple at a game we were at a couple of weeks ago.

Help cast the movie version of the 2010 Meth-up
Now that we have some faces with names, and the fog of our hangovers has lifted, what say y'all
hsa - Julia Roberts at her very pluckiest
larry - Zeljko Ivanek, a fantastic villain
wu - Dustin Hoffman or maybe David Strathairn if $ is a problem
LT - "Visionquest" era Matthew Modine
SouthSide Expat - John Cusack (a little bulked up) sorry pal
any others?
P.S. It was a great, great time. Next year, don't be a dope, make sure you're there!
