I am a HUGE Gonzaga Men 's basketball fan and have been following them for about 15 years.

I have been fortunate enough to be able to attend most of their home games during these last 5 years or so. Not a season ticketholder. Just lucky enough to have some contacts and a wallet with money! There is something about the atmosphere in the MAC that is electrifying and addicting. There is nothing else quite like it. Yes, I have been to tons of other venues. Nothing compares. But then again, I might be a little biased.

When I watch Zag games at home, my 2 beloved mini schnauzers Raider & Bentley go into hiding. It appears they have had enough of my past yelling about bad calls. They appreciate, almost as much as I do, easy wins...LOL!

Don't ask me how, but they seem to know when a Zag game is starting. I turn on the game and **POOF, they dissapear, even before I say one word. Any other sporting event is o.k., but Zag games? they are outta here!

Favorite Zags: Adam Morrison, Ronny Turiaf, Dan Dicau, {Gary Bell} <-- next fav.

We need a Final 4 and I can feel it coming in the next couple of years...GO ZAGS!!~

ELOISMS- And a Trip Down Memory Lane

With the announcement today that we have a new broadcasting crew for televised Zag basketball games, perhaps this would be a good time to take a trip down memory lane regarding posts & comments...

SWX weighs in on Fox & Dickau Addition

Matt Santangelo told me June 20th this was going down, and that he was sticking to the radio. I posted the info on this very site. Now, It's official. Looking forward to listening to someone that can actually broadcast...Go zags!!~

More on Zags vs Hawai'i

I was not aware that we have played Hawai'i before, or that the two teams last faced each other in the second round of the 1998 NIT, with Hawai'i defeating the Zags, 78-70. This means we will definately have to show them that things have changed since our last meeting. It is time for them to meet the new Zags, the incredible Zags of these past 13 years. It may not be as easy as one might expect. This Warrior team won 19 games last season, advanced to the second round of the CBI Tourney, and return three starting players. Look for Gonzaga Big Man, Robert Sacre to have a huge game and take advantage of the opportunity to play in his home town. Tickets go on sale Oct. 14th. This is a great chance for Zag fans in the Seattle area to score some relatively inexpensive tickets. Just a short drive up the coast from the Seattle area to Vancouver. We need to pack the house...GO ZAGS!

Jason Whitlock says Stats are Ruining Sports

Fox Sports writer, Jason Whitlock, writes an interesting article about how sabermetrics is a plague that is ruining sports. He elaborates on why he feels sabermetrics/analytics undermines debate because debaters tend to use them to interject absolutes. He feels that there is more to the game than absolutes, and finishes up saying he hopes that "...sabermeticians STFU."

Few Interview on Brock & Salk Talk Radio

Mark Few is interviewed by Brock Huard and Mike Salk of ESPN 710 Seattle, regarding the upcoming game "The Battle in Seattle" vs Arizona. He also talks about the upcoming season, Sacre, Harris, having young guards, and a lot more. Note: fast forward to approx. 22:30. That is where the interview starts. I think you will like it.

Few Raves about Sacre, Rewards Him with Game in Vancouver

Few speaks very highly of Robert Sacre and announced today that "Gonzaga has scheduled the BC Basketball Classic in Vancouver, Canada on Nov. 19 against Hawaii in order to give Sacre an opportunity to play in front of a hometown crowd." This 5th {extra year} will be paying substantial dividends for Rob. Are you listening K.O?

If Only Meech could Hit Like This, Playing for Baylor

Ok, so it's not exactly basketball related, but I just HAD to give everyone a "shot" at watching this bone crunching hit by Drew Yeargin, a safety for the University of the Cumberlands. Ryan Bouldin was the recipient of said love tap, and hey, he just might be related to Matt, lol. Now, everyone please excuse me, I have to visit my dentist right quick. My teeth are loose just from watching that...LOL!

A Closer Look at Potential Zag 7'0 Recruit, Prezmek Karnowski

Watch the 7:43 video clip at the bottom of the article. He looks awful. I hate to be so negative but seriously, he does absolutely nothing for me. Admittedly, I don't know much about this 7'0 Center from Poland, but if all I had to go on was this vid I would say pass. He looks like a project at best. There has to be a better big coming through the pike next year...I say, save the scholly for then.

Kelly Olynyk throws up Big Numbers Today in FIBA game

KO puts up 19 points and 12 boards in today's loss to FIBA powerhouse Argentina. He HAMMERED HOME a double double! Amazing that he can do this well vs elite national players of Brazil, er, Argentina...that include NBA players such as the San Antonio Spurs Manu Ginobili. Yet, some consider he might red shirt at Gonzaga this season because he will not get many minutes playing behind Robert Sacre, Elias Harris, and Sam Dower. UPDATE: Found a different and better link re- the game, it even has a box score!

More on Zags vs Oral Roberts

LOL, I find it amusing that this article says Oral Roberts added us to their schedule, and that we are a consolation prize replacement for them losing their game with Tulsa. Whaaa? I duhhno, but this guy seems to have put something in his pipe and its a hallucinogin, lol. It's Football season, yaaaay! That means we are gitting closer to basketball!!~

Marquise Carter Works Hard this Summer, Plans for Big 2011 Season

It does not take long for an athlete’s career to come to an end when you are a JuCo transfer at Gonzaga. But, Marquise Carter {his friends call him Quise} plans on going out with a bang. He...

Guy Landry at it Again, Throws in 34 vs Rwanda!

Just hours ago Gonzaga's Guy Edi Landry scored 34 points in a come from behind win over Rwanda. The final score was Ivory Coast 80, Rwanda 72. Landry hit a three midway through the fourth quarter to give Ivory Coast the lead and they never looked back. He was 7/7 inside the arc, 11/14 from the free throw line, and made 3/5 from the three. His team now moves into the quarter finals of the FIBA Africa Championship against the winner of Senegal or Madagascar on Wednesday. This is looking better all the time. So, he CAN shoot the three...and a pretty good free throw shooter to boot, wow! *Update: Senegal beat Madagascar 92-75, so Ivory Coast will play Senegal in the quarter finals.

The 50 Greatest Mid-Major Players of All Time

Here is a very interesting list. As always, there will be complaints about how high someone is ranked, or who did or did not make the list. Two Gonzaga players made the list. Not surprising to me at all. As a matter of fact, I thought there would be more. What does surprise me is who from Gonzaga, did not make the cut. Hint: he led the nation in scoring a looong time ago. No, it is not AMMO. Some great players indeed made this list.

Guy Edi Landry Goes Off For Ivory Coast in FIBA

Gonzaga's JuCo transfer Guy Edi Landry is doing quite well in the FIBA African Championships today. He led his team, Ivory Coast (Cote d"Ivoire) in total points with 19 and also led his team...

Kelly Olynyk K.O.'s Belgium in FIBA Exhibition

If any concerns still remained regarding any lingering effects of an injury suffered by Kelly Olynyk recently in a FIBA game, it appears that we can now put them to rest. Just minutes ago, KO scored 16 points, had 7 rebounds, and was named the game MVP in Canada's 74-68 FIBA exhibition game victory vs Belgium. Great news...and way to go KO!!~ Here's the Twitter comment on KO's achievement from Kevin Pangos too: KPangosKevin Pangos-Congrats to my Gonzaga teammate @BigKelz13 on winning player of the game today 21 minutes ago

"Oh Yeah, We Handlin Business this Year" ~Marquise Carter

That is what Marquise Carter said about GU's home schedule. It is going to be absolutely BRUTAL ...Tighten your seat belts folks, the Zags and us fans are in for quite a ride!

Gonzaga Mens Scrimmage, Gaz's Take

Greetings Zag Fans!!~ Just wanted to interrupt everyone's summer for a minute and pass on some tid bits relating to the scrimmages currently taking place at Gonzaga's campus in the McCarthy...

Knock on Wood, Kelly Olynyk goes down at FIBA Game?

First off, I do not know if he is just shaken up a bit, or has a significant injury. All I know is what I read in this tweet. Kelly Olynyk apparently just went down playing for FIBA on the...

6'4" Katin Reinhardt Has SICK Game! One of The TOP Point Guards of 2012!

OMG...this guy is going to break some ankles. Seriously sick crossover. An assist machine, hits the N.B.A. three and has a mid range shot. Did I mention he can dunk with both hands? Impressive. Hope Gonzaga can land him.

Katin Reinhardt Video plus Q & A with Josh Gershon

The above link is a highlight video of highly touted, and potential Gonzaga recruit, Katin Reinhardt of Mater Dei. And here: - A Q&A with Josh Gershon, West Coast Editor of where he talks about potential Gonzaga recruits Zena Edosomwan, Katin Reinhardt, and others. Reinhardt is at the 6:25 mark in the video.

Let's Rip This Phenom Recruit Away From Romar

So, here we are already recruiting for 2014, wow! Adrian Davis of Mt. Rainier High School is already hearing from Gonzaga. Let's convince him to shed that U.W. T-shirt and sport some real gear. I am sure Coach Romar would love it if we steal this player away from him.

Fresh Idea on Renewing ZAG/UW Rivalry

I do not like this idea. A simple home and home would be my opinion of the proper way to proceed. The reason this rivalry died is very simple...Romar has no stones. "We move on at this point. We haven't had any other discussions. At this point, we're not going to do it. So there's no game. It's a dead issue at this point." - Romar 2009 IMO...Having lost 8 out of the last 9 games to Gonzaga has plenty to do with Coach Romar's lack of interest in renewing this rivalvy.

Zag Highlights 2011/Awards

A reminder of what a great season 2011 was and gets us primed for things to come...can't wait for the new season!!~ Best part for me is near the 4:52 section that highlights the awards won by our standout Zags. What a year!

Is Former Missouri Guard Ricky Kreklow Coming to Gonzaga?

This is mind boggling to me. Don't we have enough guards already? Sure, he is a great shooter, but I was thinking a couple of BIGS would fill out the grocery list just a tad better? What the hay, let's just run 5 guard sets. Link above...story below. Decision nearing for Kreklow? Update: Ricky Kreklow's list hasn't changed since our last update -- he's down to Gonzaga, Cal and Colorado -- but a decision could be coming soon. According to a story in the Columbia Daily Tribune, the former Missouri guard has visited Gonzaga and Cal and is set to visit Colorado this week. His father, Wayne Kreklow, told the newspaper that he expects his son to make a decision in the next couple of weeks. Wherever Kreklow decides, he'll have to sit out a season per NCAA transfer rules, but the school that might offer the best chance for playing time is Colorado. If you include CU's two 2012 commits, the Buffaloes currently only have nine scholarships committed to their 2012-13 roster. The limit is 13. --- Former Missouri guard Ricky Kreklow may be getting closer to choosing his next school. Jeff Goodman of tweeted Thursday that the 6-foot-6 shooting guard recently concluded a visit to Gonzaga and is also considering Colorado and Cal. Of the three schools, Cal and Colorado might make the most sense. The Golden Bears lack depth behind last year's star freshman Allen Crabbe at the two. The Buffaloes are looking to find a replacement for Alec Burks, and currently are set to rely heavily on incoming JUCO transfer Jeremy Adams. Meanwhile, Gonzaga already has highly touted scoring guard Gary Bell, Jr. joining the program in 2011.

Who's Gonzaga's Starting Point Guard?

I found this article on ESPN's Rumor Central...It's an Insider link, if you have access follow the link, if not, here it is: UPDATE: A quick glance at Kevin Pangos' showing at the FIBA U-19 World Championship games indicates that Pangos may -- and we emphasize may -- need a little time to adjust to the college game. Thus far, Pangos has shown flashes while playing for team Canada but also struggled with inconsistency. He was held scoreless and committed three turnovers against USA, but recovered with 22 points against Egypt and a nine-point, four-assist, four-steal effort against Serbia. One area to watch with Pangos is his 3-point shooting. He has connected on five 3-pointers in two U-19 games thus far, and that could be his ticket to more playing time as a true freshman in Spokane in the fall. --- Former walk-on David Stockton blossomed quickly as a freshman at Gonzaga last season, but he will be just one of several point guard options for coach Mark Few next season. The Zags' top two recruits from 2011, Gary Bell, Jr. and Kevin Pangos, could each factor in as well. Of the trio, Bell is the one that is capable of sliding to the two and the only one of the bunch that is likely assured a starting spot -- whether it be at the one or the two. And remember, the Zags also have 6-foot-4 senior Marquise Carter in the rotation. What's the most likely starting lineup? It will likely depend on matchups and style of play, but don't be surprised if Bell and Carter begin the season as the starters with Stockton and Pangos coming off the bench. And one pairing that may not work well due to size limitations is the combination of Stockton (5 foot 10) with Bell (6 foot 2). When Bell plays off the ball, the 6-foot-1 Pangos may be a better option for defensive purposes. It would also give the Zags two deadly 3-point shooters in the backcourt. - Joe Kaiser

ZAGS- And the 2010/2011 Turnaround

So now we know. A team meeting, called by a few players got the Zags cruising and turned what had appeared to be a devastating season around. Nice that somebody stepped up. Since 'leaders" do not exist, what do we call these outspoken players? Hmmmmmm.

~OFF TOPIC...sort of~ OH...

~OFF TOPIC...sort of~ OH NOOOOOOO!~ Today is Friday the 13th!! The day of witches, broomsticks, black cats, and general bad luck. To most people it is all rather silly, but to many it is very real. If you are afflicted with the fear of Friday the 13th you are not alone. The Stress Management Center and Phobia Institue in North Carolina esitmates that between 17 and 21 million people in the United States have a diagnosable phobia of Friday the 13th. The illness is more properly known as "friggatriskaidekaphobia." It’s pronounced "fri-gah-tri-sk-eye-de-kah-fo-bia." The word, a portmanteau, means a person is afraid of Friday the 13th. Triskaidekaphobia is the fear of the number 13, and friggaphobia is the fear of Friday...If you put them together and you have friggatriskaidekaphobia. Now, I for one have never been afraid to walk under a ladder or break a glass window. But I AM curious about whether or not this dreadful day is something ZAG fans should fear as it relates to our team. You will be surprised at what I found out. Gonzaga has never played a game on Friday the 13th but they have played games on the 13th, and many of them. Here goes: 1/13/2011 Pepperdine 92-75 WIN 2/13/2010 San Diego 82-65 WIN 11/13/2007 Idaho 80-41 WIN 1/13/2007 Santa Clara 77-69 WIN 2/13/2006 Portland 97-83 WIN 1/13/2005 LMU 76-65 WIN 12/13/2003 MIssouri 87-80 WIN (O.T.) 2/13/2003 St. Mary's 73-49 WIN 1/13/2001 St. Mary's 102-48 WIN 1/13/2000 USF 96-73 WIN 12/13/1999 Wa Huskies 77-66 WIN 2/13/1999 San Diego 69-62 WIN 3/13/1999 Stanford 82-74 WIN We are undefeated on this day. There are 13 wins in games played on the 13th... and this has happened in the past 13 years! What does this all mean, exactly? I duhno....but I will say that apparently the 13th is a very, very, lucky day for ZAG Basketball!! GO ZAGS!!!!!~

Move over NBA, there's a New Sheriff in Town, or Should I say, North of the Border!

Watch the press conference announcing the new professional Canadian Basketball League. If this new league is successful, it could open doors and hopes of many players that have not yet found a spot on NBA rosters. Players such as Adam Morrison, Matt Bouldin, Jeremy Pargo, and others might get a chance to earn a paycheck closer to home. Pack your bags Josh Heytvelt, leave Europe and come back home, er, closer to home! I hope it is a successful league.

Chat with Lunardi

Interesting stuff. Especially Adam's question from Boise. Scroll way down to read it. Gotta like Joe Lunardi...always giving the Zags some love.
