This is a BTN commercial
featuring all of the big ten coaches. you can say what you want about any of them, but they are all boring compared to joe.
Joe is trying to be over the top, and he doesn't quite pull it off, and that's why its probably the greatest commercial spot i've ever seen.
We are going to need the ending spliced off and embedded on the main page come jan/feb.

Post Spring Depth Chart
This is what we are working with once we get back to it in the fall.
Obviously, some players that didn't work out in the spring have the chance to rapidly move up the chart.

Morelli
The whole thing makes sense if you realize what kind of person Morelli is and Joe's priorities as an 80 year old head coach.
Yes, Morelli is to college football as Jay Cutler is to pro football. Passing numbers are good but he is quiet, not a leader, and fumbles like it's his job. This is the kind of player Morelli was in high school (where he fumbled and had a low completion percentage) so what were we supposed to expect of him as a college QB?
He has done EXACTLY what was expected of him. There are some positives. We mock the screen passes but it's a decent play when you know that pass is going to get out there quickly and accurately every time. Doesn't anybody remember Tony Sacca getting those passes to recievers on one bounce? Morelli also throws a lot of passes better than any QB in PSU history.
Morelli is a good passer but is not a leader and is not smart with the football, exactly what Paterno expected of him. If we had a QBs coach that could change this... that is a discussion for another post. Paterno likes Morelli. He's probably nice if not a little babyish (as shown by the no-show at the presser). He stays out of trouble... italian...
If you think from the perspective of an 80 year old man, his top priority is NOT a national championship like all of us blog-whores think. There is incredible interest in the program, he's graduating kids, and he still gets to do whatever he wants. If we contend for the big ten championship or national championship, that's a bonus. Whether or not those beliefs are what you believe should matter to PSU football is YOUR opinion.
Maybe this will change with the next coaching era. But for now, and for as long as JoePa is around this is what I expect and I will enjoy it. I hope Morelli has a good final game and I can't wait to see the next round of guys play football.

Success Story of the Year - O Line
I am thrilled with how cohesive the o-line has been this year, including overcoming/pulling off the following things:
- Various mild injuries
- Insertion of true freshman at guard
- Very very few procedure penalties
Not only that, they are hilarious:

They seem to really get along and that comradery has turned into on field performance as a group. With all of the starters returning next year, and continued recruiting of the type of guys who can continue this caliber of play, we owe this group of lineman credit for what could be another streak of solid offense line play and gaudy rushing numbers for Penn State.
Way to go guys.

More Big East Inflation
Why do people think the big east remotely matches up with the big 10?

The Great Great Tony Sacca
It was great to see that Tony Sacca was represented so well in the "favorite PSU quarterback" discussion.
