This just in the the news team news center, Adam Wainwright is awesome. Dude flat out shut down los gigantes tonight. it's a shame the umps screwed him out of a potential win. he really was the stopper the Cards needed him so desperately to be. at least DeRo seams to not be as hurt as we all feared. that's also some much needed good news.

oh, and this breaking news just in to our news center studio's.

And Albert Pujols is ridiculous

Hooray Dero! Boo lefty's still shutting down the O.

Pinata had anther QS. too bad his D let him down. Dero just made a diving catch in left (so much for him playing 3rd uh MO? guess Tony didn't get the memo) and the home town crowd rejoiced. Thursty still sucks even if his sprints to 1st remind us of the glory days of David Eckstein. T. Green has no idea what he's swinging at. KBot is down in the dumps again. all in all, just another day at the ball park for your 2009 St. Louis Cardinals.

oh, and i almost forgot

Albert Pujols is ridiclious.

it's 11-1 Rocks. it's the 7th inning. the Rocks just put up a 9 spot in their half of the 7th after Wagonmaker had a very decent start.

While I wish I had something cleaver & funny to say to make us all feel better, I don't. Hell Todd, the player who was supposed to come & destroy us all made his MLB debut, and what happens? He does destroy us all. But not the way we all hoped & dreamed he would do. Our O still sucks, unless your name is Albert F'ing Pujols. Ludwick , Ankiel, Yadda (even though as i write this he just hit a solo shot) are all ice cold. It does not help that TLR didnt' start Colby simply because a lefty was on the mound. It's a bad game, it dees not deserve an overflow, but we need it. Like chitown said in the game thread, gotta go down with the ship.

One more thing. Jorge De La Fucking Rossa was said lefty on the mound tonight. Let that marinate for a while.

That was a strange game. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a glass of your favorite beverage, and enjoy the sweet taste of victory. The last over flow was over 1000 post, so this is for everyone who's on a slow connection, or other issues like the poor folks who use IE. I'm trying to come up with 75 words, so uh,,,um,,,how was your day? How was work? How are the wife/husband/life partner/bed buddy/ and the kids? Seen any good movies lately? Heard any good music? How's the weather? River seams to be up. As anyone seen my shoes? Where are my shoes?

the Cardinals minor league system is #8 according to Baseball America.

so I asked the esteamed VEB readers, what does this ranking mean? i assume it's good right? it's shocking to me that just a few seasons ago they were 30th, and now suddenly they are 8th. according to the article it's not just Colby that's pulled the Cards out of the basement. but players like YP, Apple Sauce, Walrus & even the oft mentioned but realy seen Daryl Jones. is the Cards system this good, or is this simply an overreaction by the good folks at Baseball America?

what does the rest of VEB think about Bud being commish till 2012?

just wondering what the VEB community thinks about this. just when i thought he was on his way out, they (the owners) reel him back in.

i for one do not like this. i've never liked Bud & i never will. he has single handedly ruined the game i love so much & raised it to a whole new level,

AT THE SAME TIME

during his time in charge fan attendance has never been higher. tv ratings are equally as high. player salary's have blown the freaking roof right off. there are now 30 teams in Major League Baseball. to the dismay of many he added a wild card to the playoff system. all that's done is add an extra level of excitement to the months of September & October.

but also under his watchful eye, PED's have been thrust to the forefront of the baseball world. this is one of the the darkest time's for the game we all love so much. congress is holding hearings trying to find out who's responsible. the FBI is trying to get players to wear wires in hopes of ratting out other players. hall of fame career's of many players have been ruined, rightly or wrongly depending on what side of the fence you reside on.

why did all this happen? money. cash. coin. jack. moolah. the almighty dollar. players wanted it. owners really wanted it. so every one turned their heads the other way while players got huge, and home runs got out of control. suddenly 2nd baseman were taking 99 miles per hour fast balls on the outside corner & turning them into opposite field, upper tank home runs. can you honestly blame a AAA player who was on the cusp of making the big league club for taking the needle in the mid 90's? i can't. i would have done the same damn thing.

truly these are the best of times for baseball. and the worst of times for baseball. and most of it is thanks to that used car salesman from Milwaukee.

Bud Selig.

like it or not, we are stuck with him till 2012.

with all the diary restrictions i hope a topic about the new scotty rolen article by joe strauss is diary worthy. i said this at the end of yesterday's main page entry, so if you kill it lboros it wont hurt my feelings one bit.

scotty's officially on the trading block. gee, tell us something we didn't know joe.

http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/00B301FCAA429C6A8625739300169280 ?OpenDocument

actually its a good read with a lot of good stuff from MO. in short the Cards wont move scotty unless they get some team to pay him most of the $36Million he's owed. AND they get an equal return for scotty. quoting MO "Rolen and his agents have to understand what our return must be to even consider moving someone of Scott's talent."

so it sounds like unless they get a "star plyer" in return & get the team to pay most of scotty's salary, then he ain't going any where. translation? he ain't going any where.

which could be a bad thing considering he's really, really mad at Tony because Tony wrote him a letter telling scotty what he needed to do in order for him to be the player he once was.

tough cookies scotty. shut up & prove to every one you are healthy & able to produce like you used to be able to. then maybe the Cards can trade you. until then you aren't going any where.

i hope the $36 MILLION DAMN DOLLARS you are going to make over the next 3 years for being an overreated bench player will help you sleep at night.
