Originally from Central Pennsylvania, grew up in Pittsburgh and its suburbs, and will always consider that my home no matter where I live. I am a licensed doctor of physical therapy by trade, but after writing for both Hustle Belt and Mid-Major Madness as a hobby, I've now been tasked with herding this massive cat ranch that is Underdog Dynasty.

MVC: Redbirds Survive, SIU and Drake Surprise

The top two teams were off during last night's Missouri Valley Conference action, and it was evident across a mix of rather sloppy play to try and clear out the "Demolition Derby" in the middle of...

Kruize Control Reaches 26, Dons Top Santa Clara

USF (16-10, 9-5) hit the road to try and pull even with Saint Mary's in the standings, and they just managed to pull it off, thanks to a monster game and a new career high from junior transfer...

Rockets' Pearson Shoots Toledo To Ninth MAC Win

Maurice Ndour and company couldn't stop themselves from being painfully streaky with their offensive execution, and in the end they went streaking right back to the team bus with a loss. Rian...

Lehigh looks to finish climbing above the .500 mark after early struggles, while American seeks to end the losing before it truly becomes a streak.

Are The Shockers A Legitimate #1 Seed?

ESPN's Outside the Lines had a discussion today on the two remaining undefeated teams in the nation, Wichita State and Syracuse, and everything connected to them. I tied it all up in a nice bow for...

Jaspers Stop Baron, Griffins For Big Road Win

The Jaspers made the top of the MAAC standings a little bit muddier heading into Sundays game with a wire-to-wire strong performance, while handing the Golden Griffins their first home loss of the...

Examining the MACtion: Can the MAC Afford Success?

The Toledo Blade suggests that current changes in CFB will make it more difficult for the MAC to snag high-profile coordinators from higher-up programs to be their new coaches. We appear to differ...

Bruins Escape Racer Rainstorm To Snag Home Win

A battle of the best in the Ohio Valley Conference saw the Belmont Bruins do what they do best sooner than Murray State could do the same, and it earned them their ninth conference victory.

Dons Lack Kruize Control, Fall At Home To BYU

The Dons waged a good fight, but couldn't match BYU's physicality, as all the little details went against them down the stretch. Junior Kruize Pinkins' athleticism got away from him, and the...

Examining the MACtion: We All Make UMass-takes

It's great that UMass was willing to admit what a poor choice they made in hiring Charlie Molnar, but it's also important to notice what really went wrong so they can look in the right direction...

Examining the MACtion: Take Some English Off It

Coaches come and go every year, but what on earth happened up in Ypsilanti, and what does that tell us about the nature of this particular coaching job?

Harvard-UConn: Crimson Not EnoughWithout Sanders

Taking a night off to nurse the mild knee injury he incurred against Rice, Wesley Saunders was absent from the Crimson's tilt against Connecticut - and they damn near beat 'em anyway.

Is Incarnate Word a Real Contender?

In an interesting turn of events, the Southland conference currently features a small Texas school at the top of the standings. It's too bad it won't last, but it may be worth seeing how far from...

FIU May Face Sanctions Over Eligibility Snafu

Raymond Taylor's - and FIU's - poor attention to NCAA eligibility guidelines could cost the Panthers a lot this season, perhaps even some of the games they already won.

NAIA Lets Student Athlete Keep Prize Money

Here's a situation the NCAA might learn a thing or two from. Cameron Rodriguez plays basketball for Southwest College, an NAIA school in Kansas. He also was one of a recent string of Oklahoma City Thunder fans to swish home a half-court shot that earned him a cool $20,000 in prize money. The NAIA initiall ruled that keeping the money would eliminate his amatuer status (and eligibility to play), but on appeal agreed with the school's idea that Rodriguez could keep the cash as a scholarship. I'd call that a win-win. See, NCAA, positive compromise DOES exist!

Morning Coffee: UCSB Pushes UCLA, UMass Perfect

UMass stayed perfect (though it was in doubt for a while), UCSB gave UCLA a run for their money, and some familiar names had some huge games last night.

We should be more careful how we toss around our opinions when dealing with allegations against athletes, because we have no way of knowing the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

NC Central Takes Down In-State Power

The Eagles may be in a conference that gets little respect (the MEAC) but they sure earned themselves plenty of it tonight after a strong performance against an in-state foe.

White Men (From Boston) CAN Jump

So I guess this also happened this weekend in Northeast Conference action, from David "Sky" Walker. As if it wasn't enough that the Blue Devils lost their third in a row.

NEC Power Rankings: Make It Wayne

Saint Francis Brooklyn rides their freshman forward up the rankings as I have actual stats and games played available to rectify some preseason ranking errors I may have made.

Anderson Leads Top-Heavy NEC

Several of the conference's best players left last season, and another almost left but changed his mind the next day. So where does that leave us now? Crowded at the top, that's where.
