DeSean Hales transfer or changing numbers?
Three 2010 signees are already on campus (C Wood, C McCoy, A White). Notice Case is wearing number 6. Is not that Desean's number? I hope there is not a bigger issue here. We dont need any more WR attrition.
My Championship Game Take and glimpse at the future
Overall:
- I am proud to be a Horns fan this morning. We fought hard to the end.
- We had a chance to really bury them early. We had 2 possessions inside the 5 yard line,
but only came away with 6 points. Their defense turned our advantage into a positive for
them by forcing us to kick two field goals.
Offense:
- I will not waste time with would-a , could-a, should-a, but I will forever wonder how this
game would have been different with Colt there the entire game...
- I don’t necessarily agree that we have to run the ball well to win ball games, but when
Colt left we were really handicapped.
- Our season long inconsistent receiver group raised its ugly head again. Mr. Williams had
4/5 drops. Mr. Chiles didn’t complete pass routes. Shipley played a great game, but also
dropped some passes early in the game.
Defense:
- Our defense fought their hearts out.
- The more I watch college football, the more I realize how much emotions play a hug part of
the game. Our defense seemed to lose a little fight in the 2nd quarter, but regained it after
a pep talk in the locker room.
- I was surprised Alabama was able to run the ball as well as it did. The Bama scheme was
not overly complicated. Typically we had guys there to make the tackle, but the Bama
RB’s ran with power and broke tackles. They also made people miss in space a couple times.
- Overall great effort by the unit as a whole.
- All of DB’s need to hit the weight room this spring and summer.
Quick look at 2010:
- I think Mack Brown has a dilemma. Does he build a team to win the Big XII or does he build a
team to win a National Championship? See the table below. The Big XII wide open offenses and
smallish defenses to combat the spread offenses are having little success against the SEC.
We have to assume to win a National Championships you have to go thru the SEC winner. SEC
incorporates more pro style offenses with big, fast defenses to stop that style.

Key to blitzing Texas
I think I have found why Nebraska was able to blitz so successfully against Texas. I know you're thinking its because of Suh. Yes Suh had a great game. Yes our O - Line has had better years, but Nebraska's coaches did something very simple...
Orakpo talks about participating in 7on7's at UT as LB
Brian Orakpo talks about signing his 1st NFL contract and participating in 7 on 7 in Austin. He used the 7 on 7 drills to help continue to develop the proper LB technique's. Orakpo and other NFLers working out with the current Longhorns cant help but to improve this years's team. I am soooo happy we actually have REAL football news.
Jamaal Charles in competition with Dantrell Savage for backup RB at KC Chiefs
Click the link below to hear Herm Edwards talk about the current status of the backup RB competition. Right now Jamaal Charles and Dantrell Savage are competing this spot. Coach Herm seems to be raving about Charles' speed however one of his old bad habits has emerged.... One thing I like about Herm Edward is that he will play the best player no matter where that player is drafted or even if the player is not drafted.
