Atogwe vs Morrison
I have seen that the Rams are considering a low tender on OJ Atogwe, would this be a better use of a 3rd round pick than signing Kirk Morrison.
I still think that the safety position is the one area the Giants must address this off season. Morrison, Dansby, Peppers, love 'em, hate 'em, bored of 'em, they aren't going to stop any of those deep seam routes and post patterns that lit up the scoreboard last season.
I think that Atogwe is a cover safety that could make an immediate impact on Big Blue, take some pressure off Reese to get a safety and give him flexibility to draft BPA in round 1. After all if Bulaga falls to Giants and they have one starting safety signed, they can grab him and worry about defense in rounds 2-4.
So its midnight, Atogwe and Morrison are both 3rd round tenders, you are Jerry Reese, who do you call first and why.
Correction: Atogwe is rumored at right of first refusal, still it will be about the money (how much are they going to pay them), and who do you pursue first.
Deep Draft What Will Reese Do?
Because of the fear (or knowledge??) of the impending rookie salary cap a ton of underclassmen (but mainly juniors) are declaring for the draft. While the Giants have some definite needs, is it possible that the Giants will look to trade down from pick 15, preferring to pick up an extra 2nd round pick??
Check out the # of 5 star rated players in this years draft versus the last several, its an eye opener.
How's this for a potential move: The Giants trade the 15th pick for the 25th and 57th picks. Giving them the 25th, 47th and 57th.
Potential picks at those spots:
25th: Brandon Spikes, Dan Williams or Brian Price
47th: Terrence Cody, Bruce Campbell, Sean Witherspoon, Nate Allen
57th: Sean Lee, Arthur Jones, Chad Jones
Of course that has to be balanced by the possibility of getting Anthony Davis, Bryan Bulaga or Earl Thomas at 15.
