TODAY -- Season Ticket Holder Event

imaseasonticketholder just called and said that there's still one spot for this today. If you are going or already at the game, and you are interested in going on the field and meeting the players after the game ends, you can find her in her seat at section 128, row 9, seat 2.

Season Ticket Holder Event & My New Best Friends 10/03/09

Received the e-mail from the A's. The way this works is that the seasonticket holder & their party needs to go to section 145 before the game (preferably) to get wristbands. For those not going to the game but to the event, they can get their wristbands outside of the Arena. I'm not going into too much detail as season ticket holders have received e-mails with the inof.

When the game ends, we line up at the stairwells at either section102 or 132 and proceed to the field where the players will personally thank us. We are encouraged to bring cameras.

Afterwards, we go to the East Side Club where Buan will interview Andrew Bailey & Ray Fosse & Ken Korach will handle a raffle. Snacks & beverages will be provided.

So my guests are Englishmajor, of course and Optimist Prime, if they rsvp. If not, I'll continue down the list.

Wow, when was the last time we had a DLD posted after 4 in the afternoon? Craziness....

Anyways, it's an offday, so we need a DLD. Or so say some people.

This video is disturbingly amusing. It's totally safe for work, so no worries on that, but seriously, someone made a video for this??? It's something you just kinda pick up. And I swear, about 2/3 the way through, it looks like she's killed it. Though the alternating between real and stuffed amused me throughout.

I got nothin' else. Enjoy this dump folks. Play with it early and often. And enjoy the off day tonight. A's and Tigers starting Friday night, 7:05 first pitch.

I was all set to share with you all the glory of my getting my picture taken with Rickey Henderson yesterday, but alas, he had to leave with a dozen of us still in line, so no picture. :(

7/31/09: Last Day in July 2009 DLD

We need a fresh DLD. And I'm having a little bout of insomnia. So rather than watch more youtube clips of my favorite tv shows, I'm putting together this snazzy new DLD for us all to play with. Enjoy it on Friday, you can even take it for a spin over the weekend. There's a little something in here for everyone, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the dump...

The trade deadline is 4pm EST on Friday (that's 1pm on the West Coast). The latest two trades are ones involving Kevin Hart of the Cubbies (now Pirates) and George Sherrill of the Orioles (now Dodgers). There were other people involved in those trades, but you'll have to click the links to find more.

Speaking of the Cubs, they scored 12 runs for the second straight day. Rich Harden (aka gigglingone's future husband) pitches for the baby bears on Friday against the Florida Marlins. Go Richie!! Also pitching on this last day of the seventh month is former A Chad Gaudin, pitching against Milwaukee, and Cliff Lee, making his Phillies debut in San Francisco.

The A's come home to take on Toronto in a three game set. Friday night (7:05) brings us a Braden vs. Richmond match up. This will be Richmond's first start in over a month, including a DL stint for something with his shoulder. Saturday (6:20) the A's will retire Rickey's number, and the sell out crowd will stick around to watch Ricky Romero take on Trevor Cahill. Sunday (1:05) has TBA vs. Mazzaro. Don't know who TBA is, but if they don't switch around their rotation, it should be Rzepczynski. How on earth do you pronounce that name?

In other sports, I totally thought this was referring to Tiger Woods. Why on earth would he be in Vegas???

Remind me not to play Monopoly with this guy.

7/17/09 DLD: Injury bug spreading...

I don't want the DLD to go on the DL, so here's the Friday edition, which today highlights injuries. If everyone else is getting injured, we can't, right? Right???

Pope breaks wrist in Italy. I guess you can't say he's in-fall-able, right? (Ohhh, that was bad Gigs....)

Levi Leipheimer breaks wrist in France. Europe is starting to sound like a dangerous place...

Maybe they should take up fencing, like this kid with a broken-wrist did.

Someone in Scotland has neck pain. (Wow, a quintuple-bogey? I think even I could do better than that....)

It's not injury-related, but I swear the headline here said "pants", not "paints". I was confused. And intrigued.

So now that I've reported all the injuries for the day, let's hope that the injury bug escapes the A's for at least a little while....hopefully....maybe....please???

DLD 6/12/09: Early bird catches the elephant...

As promised, a Friday DLD for y'all. Apparently some people wanted to see something...

On Wednesday night, 67Marquez, friend o' 67M, and I went to the game. With our trusty bleacher tickets in hand, we went and sat down in a much lower section. Upon seeing Stomper, we jokingly told 67Marquez that he ought to get his picture taken with Stomper. He writes books! He writes blogposts! He needs a picture with Stomper. Or so was our logic. He fought it initially, but our arguments were quite compelling and annoying, and then a plan was hatched. Stomper came by, we chased him over a couple sections, and then asked if 67M could get his picture taken. "Sure" the handler said, "after this next promotion." So we calmly waited (and took seats even closer than where we were previously), and waited, and waited....the promotion involved Stomper running around waving a BART ticket in the air, and when the promotion was done, he ran up the stairs. And I think "ran" might be an understatement. I've never seen an elephant move that fast. Not to be deterred though, the three of us chased after Stomper. At this point, we were on a mission. But alas, Stomper had disappeared into the Security Guard area, and the break between innings was almost over, so we went back to the seats to wait for his next return. And return he did. And a picture was finally taken.

That bag of peanuts that 67M is trying to choke Stomper with is in fact empty. It was full the first time we tried to get the picture. There was going to be a great shot of Stomper and peanuts. But he ran, so he lost out on the peanuts. Sorry Stomper, that's your own fault.

We've got an exciting weekend of Bay Bridge Baseball going on. Check out this for the matchups, but in a nutshell, it's Mazzaro vs. Lincecum on Friday, Outman vs. Old Man Johnson on Saturday, and Anderson vs. Cain on Sunday. My inside sources tell me that there are still plenty of tickets left for all three games. Great deals for some of them too - here's one for Friday's game. (And for those looking into the future, here's a deal for 6/23). (By the way, can I just say that I love that the A's ticket office has a twitter account (one that frequently posts discount codes), and it annoys me greatly that other ballclubs don't do similarly???)

For those of you that like basketball, apparently this was a thrilling game. I wouldn't know, I watched the last 4.6 seconds (ie, 5 minutes) of regulation, and then my phone rang. Half an hour later, the game was over and I had been thoroughly updated on what's been going on in my friend's life.

It's a Friday DLD, with two bonus Thursday hours left. Enjoy!
