Obama ignores the wave
Regardless of politics, I hope we can all agree that this was a good decision made by the President.
Zambrano gone after contract?
MLB.com is reporting here that Big Z will RETIRE after his contract is up.
"After this contract, I'm done," said Zambrano, who is signed through 2012 with a vesting option for 2013. "I'm serious. I don't want to play. I want to help this team, I want to do everything possible to win with this team, but after five years or four years, or whatever I have left on my contract, I just don't want to play.
"I want to stay home and see my daughters grow up and hang out with my family more," he said. "Do you know how many Mother's Days I spend with my mother? Do you know how many things I've lost in my life?
I don't know how I feel about this. I mean, if he wants to do that I can respect wanting to see your family. I think very few of us actually realize how much baseball players are away from their families both during the season and in the off season.
But this quote sounds like he already has one foot out the door. Maybe he should have thought about this a year ago when he signed this deal. Maybe he should have taken a shorter deal.
I just really hope this doesn't effect his performance. If he is saying these kinds of things right now with 4 years left who is to say that in 2 years he doesn't just completely stop performing to his ability. Not the kind of quote I want to see after his suspension and missing a team charter.
