Vinny fires back at Paxson!
Comcast - Vinnie said, paraphrasing, he'll coach the team and make decisions as he sees fit. Nobody knows this team better than he (Vinnie does). Rose will play in the 4th quarter but he wants to do things, he'll do what he wants.
His demeanor was very firm, even defiant.
(Also I think somewhere in there, reiterated, he (Vinnie) decides who plays and when.)
Oh boy.
Derrick Rose Highlights vs Houston
(UPDATE: X-rays negative) Deng out for season?
[Note by your friendly BullsBlogger, 03/01/09 10:26 PM CST: X-Rays were negative. Not sure how much more the MRI can tell, but I'm assuming Deng isn't out of the woods yet -ed. ]
[From the fanposts -ed.]
When Bulls forward Luol Deng didn't start the third quarter on Saturday, the team called the problem a tibia bone contusion.
Following the game, a more serious possibility was raised. X-rays showed that Deng might have a stress fracture in his lower leg and could be lost for the season. He'll have an MRI exam Monday to further assess the damage.
"It's been bothering me maybe three or four weeks," Deng said. "I thought it was just a sprain. I had a play in the first half where I jumped up and I felt it. I'm not in pain. When I'm walking, when I get on my toes or I'm jumping, I feel it in there a little bit. But I thought it was just a bruise, but it stayed there."
"We've got to wait and get results, but it doesn't sound very good and that's a huge blow to us," he said. "Hopefully it's not and hopefully we can get him back as soon as possible."
RumorPress: Amare trade unlikely (Kaman somewhat likely)
http://www.rumorpress.net/?p=77
1.) We know the Bulls have an offer out to obtain Amare Stoudemire. Which is based around Drew Gooden, Tyus Thomas, probably Thabo, and picks.
The Bulls would love to make this move, but it seems Steve Kerr and the Suns management have cooled on the idea of trading Amare. A deal is somewhat unlikely at this point. That could change Thursday, we’ll see. It’s up to the Suns, and they will wait until the very last minute on Thursday to decide
3) Bulls will try to go after Chris Kaman. As we all
know, if the Bulls cant get Stoudemire, they will have a back up plan for someone else. Kaman is the most likely candidate to come to the Bulls. I hear it would probably take Drew Gooden and Tyus Thomas to get him as well.
Amare Update
[From the Fanposts (added the McGraw link). Can't say I vouch for the sources, but Rumorpress has been correct in the past. It's interesting that the supposed stumbling block for Paxson is the same I'd have: I would not throw in Noah to this deal -ed.]
As we all know, the Bulls and Suns have had lengthy discussions about a possible trade that would send All Star big man Amare Stoudemire to Chicago. The Bulls are very much in the running to land Stoudemire, as GM John Paxson is willing to package just about any deal with mutliple players involved to get him, except for Derrick Rose of course. One scenario that is very possible and has been discussed the most would be a deal that would send Drew Gooden, Tyus Thomas, Thabo Sefoloshia and a 1st round pick to the Suns in exchange for Stoudemire. However, Steve Kerr would like Joakim Noah added to the deal as well. Phoenix will continue to talk with other teams to see if they can either find a better deal, or wait and see if the Bulls will add Noah to the trade. The Bulls want Stoudemire so much, that adding Noah may just happen. Even then, the ball will still be in the Suns court as they have multiple teams to work with and several deals to weigh out, the highest bidder will win.
The chatter on Monday, though, suggested the Suns aren't convinced Beasley would fit into their offensive system and they don't want to take back Marion, even for less than half a season. Marion has a $17 million expiring contract and was sent to Miami for Shaquille O'Neal a year ago.
In the meantime, Suns GM Steve Kerr sees the same thing the Bulls did the past two weeks: The light bulb is starting to go on for Thomas and he may still be a long way from reaching his ceiling. Thomas just completed the best six-game stretch of his pro career, averaging 15.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2 blocks.
It appears the Suns are open to a package of Thomas, Thabo Sefolosha, Drew Gooden, Cedric Simmons and undetermined draft picks for Stoudemire. One question now is whether better offers will come at the Suns in the days leading up to the Feb. 19 trade deadline.

Report: Portland talking to an East team for PG and SF
[From the fanshots. If it's Nocioni: good. If it's Deng: bad -ed.]
The deal would involve Raef's contract and 2 players in the Blazers rotation, but no starters would be involved.

Huston Street to the Brewers?
http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/default.aspx
San Francisco - I just got a call from a contact in Brevard County who told me that word was circulating there that outfielder Darren Ford had been involved in a trade for Oakland closer Huston Street.
Then, Ford was pulled from Brevard's lineup before its game against Clearwater. Players often are pulled from the lineup when they've been put into a trade. The Brewers did the same thing with Matt LaPorta in Huntsville before trading him to Cleveland in the CC Sabathia deal.
The fact that Ford was pulled from the lineup makes me believe something could be up. He has no injury that I know of.
GM Doug Melvin is here with the club, so I'll go ask him if it's true and get back to you.
