Huston Street to the Brewers?

San Francisco - I just got a call from a contact in Brevard County who told me that word was circulating there that outfielder Darren Ford had been involved in a trade for Oakland closer Huston Street.

Then, Ford was pulled from Brevard's lineup before its game against Clearwater. Players often are pulled from the lineup when they've been put into a trade. The Brewers did the same thing with Matt LaPorta in Huntsville before trading him to Cleveland in the CC Sabathia deal.

The fact that Ford was pulled from the lineup makes me believe something could be up. He has no injury that I know of.

GM Doug Melvin is here with the club, so I'll go ask him if it's true and get back to you.

Brewers COULD win out

The Brewers could finish the season 7-0.

They are at home. Best home record in baseball.
Mike Cameron and Milton Bradley (Padres) out for the year. Padres now are without an offense.
Cardinals will probably tank seeing their rivals are on top.

All this means the Cubs may have to win 4 of 6 on the road against the Marlins (0-3 in 2007) and Reds (.500 in 2007)
We may be celebrating now but this may not last long. We need to continue to focus on winning.
