Kevin Towers takes over as Diamondbacks GM, hopes to hire Greg Maddux as pitching coach
The thought of KT bringing in Maddux just made me do a loud cartoon-like swallow.
Padres: A little offense wouldn't hurt. The Padres could also do without the Boston media continuing to treat them like roadkill whose only purpose in life is to trade Adrian Gonzalez to the Red Sox.
SD Chicken working for the Mariners? A Yankee mascot? The late '70's were an odd time in baseball history.
"On July 10, 1979, the (San Diego) Chicken — on sabbatical from the Padres, his regular employer — was working for the Seattle Mariners at the Kingdome, where he threw a hex on Yankees pitcher Ron Guidry as he warmed up. Mr. Piniella, the Yankees' left fielder at the time, considered this to be in poor taste, so he chased the Chicken and, lacking apparent success, fired his glove at him in a fit of rage."
Rays personnel say they wouldn't be surprised if Bush, one of the most disappointing top picks in draft history, rises to the major leagues later this season.
Which one of you is this?
So I was rather upset that I would miss the Padre's opening day game this year because I was in Maui. That is until I looked at this photo and realized I not only did my best to overcome my internet deficiency but I also represented GLB while catching my first Mahi Mahi. Then I ate it in tacos.
Milton Bradley: Blame Chicago, not me
Oh Milty...you so crazy!
Hall of Fame Hats Quiz
I will hide my head in shame over my score of 71%.

Made in San Diego
Ok we have to give this girl some appreciation. Ran across this blog by a girl from Korea who LOVES the Friars. This might just be the cutest sports blog ever.
Heath Bell rules major networks...
Is it me or has ESPN made a change since Heat voiced his opinion? I just watched ESPN's recap of Sunday baseball and they have Winfield on as their guest and he gave the Padres so much love as well as the NL West (with no mention of NY and very little about how awesome he was).
As I see it we have 2 lessons learned here:
1. ESPN is in a corner after the MLB network started (far superior so far by the way) and will actually listen to fans from the west or acknowledge them at least.
and...
2. Heath Bell rules major networks.
Be afraid, be very afraid...unless you are in San Diego, because Heat is gonna take us on a helluva ride!
Heath Bell worked around a walk to strike out the side Tuesday and earn a save against the Dodgers.
His choice of song was "Blow Me Away" by Breaking Benjamin, in case you were wondering. Apparently, you don't get to choose grown-up music until after your first 30-save season.
