I'm hearing Lance Briggs wants out of Chicago. Let's package something up. Briggs, Winbley, and McClain. Holy shit that would be sweet.
Phillip "Cry me some" Rivers is going to kill us this year.
via t3.gstatic.com
Denver blows. The Chiefs are over achievers. The Bolts defense is a joke. The only thing stopping us from winning this division this year is gonna be Phillip Rivers. I'm predicting he leads all QBs in fantasy point this year. And he may get his big numbers against the 6 games he plays in the division alone.
If I'm not mistaken, and I never am. Anybody who thinks so can lick me from butt to nut. Anyways...Vincent Jackson is healthy and in a contract year. With Gates iffy lately on his own playing status, the combo of Rivers to Jackson is going to get plenty of sportscenter highlights this year. I'm not sold on Ryan Mathews either. Rivers and Jackson are going to put up insane numbers this year. Maybe not Brady to Moss numbers, but enough to just plain outscore every team in our division. Our young (and one disgustingly overpaid corners) despite having the best defensive line pressure in the league to help make Rivers think quick to get the ball out are going to get torched. I know their special teams is a joke. But if we want an automatic playoff bid, we're going to have to get some big hits on Rivers. With out LB depth as this as ever, when Rivers does get pressure, the middle of the field will be loaded with options for him to get bailed out.
So can we outscore the bolts? I doubt it. Jacoby is gonna get pinned 10 deep in the endzone on kick returns thanks to this new bullshit rule. Our O-line will struggle to buy Campbell enough time to get a deep ball loose. And when the deep ball does get tossed, I don't have a hell of alot of confidence that our Wideouts can make a play on the ball. Grinding it out with DMAC and Bushy may keep Rivers off the field for a spell, but they are going to score quickly. I want to see this Denarious Moore get serious playing time. I have zero faith in Chaz Shilens. Reminds me of Jerry Porter with a serious injury bug. Hey-Bey may be in his last season with us. I do like the idea of lining up Jacoby or Taiwan Jones in the slot. I'd also like to see a few trick plays. MCfadden can throw. Hell, maybe report Bruce Campbell as an eligible receiver. Maybe a wildcat or two involving Terrelle Pryor. I'm up for anything.
I'll be drafting Phillip Rivers 1st round in my fantasy draft (I've won this league 3 years in a row). I'll look for McFadden and Vincent Jackson in my next few picks. But both Rivers and Jackson will see us twice this season with no Nnamdi. They are going to tear shit up. I have no faith in our secondary. Hue is gonna have to get crafty. As far as I'm concerned, start Denarious Moore and Murph. Run single back sets. Throw in a few reverses. And send Hey-Bey deep often and just try to overthrow him.
Player safety is a funny thing
via www.bouncecitycleveland.com
I gotta say, I'm loving the whole "Player Safety" umbrella of arguement. And to me, the players are turning into hypocrits. They want to deny the owners any shot at an 18 game schedule in to next CBA. And their reasoning? Player safety and career longevity. Bullshit. They simply don't want to do it because they won't see significant pay increase if it happens.
Check the reasoning behind Devin Hester and Josh Cribbs pleading with the ruling committee over kick offs. They feel it takes opportunity away from them. Yup. An opportunity to make money. Cribs and Hester would have joke contracts and wages if they weren't kicked to. They were drafted with that in mind.
There's a safety issue EVERYWHERE in football. But if the players can't use it only when it benefits them. Which is all I see happening. I hope the league and owners cram safety down their throats. Another way to get back at them for supposedly "Knowing it's a violent game" then suing the league and teams after they retire for headaches and injuries. It can't work both ways. Even Cribbs and others have said they don't want certain rule changes because "We know what we've signed up for". Now, if we can just get the players to sign waivers when they sign contracts stating that they know the risks and will not seek lawsuits after something they know they're in for, happens.
Bob Sanders to Chargers. Good. McFadden can knock him out early.
Wes Welker to the RRRAIDERS?
Taking sides
Alright Nation, time to vent.
I just got word Seymour is getting a contract. I am VERY proud of our front office for getting this done. We all know I'm a staunch supporter of Mr Davis. Even if there is a lockout and this contract doesn't matter, I'm still impressed. Seymour is at a point in his career where franchising him could have crippled his security. Our organization has done well using its franchise tag. You may get it one year, but odds are, your patience and loyalty will pay off. Which lead me to my original train of thought.
I'd love to bang Kim Kardashian. Ok. Wrong thought. It's in here some where...
Aha! Maybe Mr. Davis should be heard through by both sides of the table at the CBA negotiations. Financially and morally, nobody takes care of his players like the managing general partner. Think about it. He's been at this football gig for a while now. He knew the late great player rep and hall of famer Gene Upshaw as well as anybody. I know most people view him as a quack these days. But this seems to be a perfect time for him to rise to the occassion. He wanted more than anything to be NFL Commissioner before being snaked by the other owners and Pete Rozelle.
It just seems to me the inmates are running the asylum these days in sports. At some point, even the players union has got to see that these NFL Players got it pretty good. And point it out to the "Hired Help". I belong to a union and have for almost 15 years. But were it to come to a strike, I'm not so sure how long I could go in this economy without crossing the picket line and just being thankful to get a paycheck, benefits for my family, and a pension. I for one can't wait to hear about the 1st time after the lockout, a player has to get medical treatment. Reality check time.

Ok. This guy said Tyvon Branch is possibly our best defensive player. Fathead just came out with a Tyvon Branch full size. Is everybody else but me high?
Pro Bowl Snubs
We all knew Shane and Nnamdi were gonna make the probowl. I thought McFadden had a decent shot. And I also thought that Zach Miller had a chance with the injury to Dallas Clark.
I am shocked that Jacoby Ford is not a Pro-Bowler at the kick return specialist position. Instead Marc Mariani makes it? I don't give a rat's ass if he's returning punts to boot. Let's check stats.
Player KR TD Long AVG YARDS PR TD AVG
Ford 51 3 101T 24.4 1,244 NA NA NA
Mariani 56 1 98T 25.2 1,411 25 1 12.9
Throw in that 2 of Ford's TDs were to start a game, his 24 receptions for 435 yards and 2 TDs, plus his 16.6 YPC rushing average and TD of 71 yards. Not to mention quite possibly the greatest catch I've seen and I can't help but feel Ford got robbed. The best arguement stance is simple. RRRAIDER fan or not. I haven't heard of this kid Mariani all season. Well, nothing big anyway.
I'll also argue that Sebas got snubbed too.
Player ATT MADE LONG 50+
Sebas 32 40 59 4
Cundiff 27 24 49 0
Sebas led all kickers in the league in FGs made. Cundiff is tied for 8th. Cundiff does have 9 more Touchbacks than Sebas. I am a bit surprised that Seymour made it. I have to remind myself that this is alot more of a popularity contest than it is reality. And complaining about Probowls wouldn't be an issue if we had a 1st round playoff opponent. I know it would mean alot to the players. They can bullshit all they want, but after Sunday's game, they'd sure like to have the honor of one more game. RRRAIDERS
Just got back from Jacksonville. Got to see some of the players. Great group of guys. I have 2 observations of 2 VERY different rookies.
1. Rolando McClain does not acknowledge fans unless he's being paid to by a sponsor. I fully understand not signing autographs from time to time. My son walked right next to him pen in hand wearing his jersey and Rolando completely ignored him when politely approached. He did this to a few other kids as well throughout the weekend. Every Raider fan there said the same thing. Who the fuck does this rookie thing he is? Same guy that won't talk to the media. Won't talk to Raider Nation either. I won't embrace this guy as long as he's wearing the Silver and Black. Fuck him.
2. Jacoby Ford is a great kid. Took pictures, signed autographs, and even sat with The Nation for about an hour just hanging out and talking. I told him he deserved McClain's draft status and paycheck.
RRRAIDER ROOM
This is my RRRAIDER themed "Man Cave". Finally finished.
Langston Walker purchases 100 tickets for troops

Finally, a little credit for Mr. Davis
Nothing like a couple wins to get people talking positive about our team. Feels like an eternity that I've been defending our players, coaches, and especially our owner from regurgitated scrutiny. Buncha damn media parrots out there. Nobody has the stones to come out and say anything good about RRRAIDERS players. Even a guy with Nnamdi's talent and off the field track record gets little publicity.
Granted, we are merely 4-4. But a little love is long overdue. And it should start at the top just as the blame went. Some solid roster moves lately should be duely noted. In no particular order off the top of my head.
1. NOT biting on Randy Moss or T.O. (Tired of being wrong Schefter?)
2. Last season's 1st rounder. Maybe the best thing isn't that it WAS Rolando, but that it WASN'T Bruce Campbell.
3. At this point, taking Hey-Bey over Crabtree doesn't seem like such a stretch. Keep in mind Crabs would have held out just. Very ugly sitch after the Russell ordeal.
4. NOT over-paying McNabb for 1 season.
5. Parting ways with Morrison. Hard to justify giving up your leading tackler for how many seasons? Kam Wimbley turned out to be a solid pick up along with drafting RoMac.
6. Richard Seymour. Screw what the Pats can get for the draft pick. His leadership and veteran presence is invaluable when we have youngsters like Houston, Shaughnessy, and Scott learning from the example.
7. Michael Bush. Dear god, what a pick. Great kid, great fit. Team player.
8. DMC. All of a sudden, nobody mentions that other Arkansas back. Funny. I think I remember hearing all about how he wasn't even the best RB out of his old college backfield.
9. Zach Miller. If the AFC wasn't blessed with Dallas Clark and Antonio Gates, he'd be Pro Bowl selected every year.
10. Louis Murphy. I love this kid. His effort alone blocking last year VS the Eagles for Zach won me over. The fact that he can catch a ball and make a play with it afterward are just a bonus. The guy just exudes fire for the game.
I might have left off one or two. Feel free to add to it. I'm sure there's a sizable bone head roster move list to combat this one. That list can kiss my RRRAIDER ass.
http://www.raiders.com/index2.html
I know McNabb has denied saying anything bad about Oakland, but I can't help smile seeing his situation with Shanarat. Just thinking he didn't want to come here. I bet Jason Campbell is hiding a smile about it too.
Finally the pressure is on our defense. I'm so glad to see our defense being rewarded. The ultimate reward to great defensive play is the offense making good on their end. After a few years of watching the defense make some plays only to watch their offense get nothing or live on 3 and outs, the defense gets to play with leads. That's a big deal to this defensive line of ours. Still not sure of our ability to stop the run, knowing the offense has to pass, the dline can pin their ears back, send a linebacker, and give the QB the business. Bring on the Chiefs and GET WELL SOON NNAMDI. Let's go into the bye with a win and study up for Pittsburgh.
I've read the autobiographies one after the other. Stabler. Bo Jackson. Jack Tatum. John Madden. And then I read Al Davis. One of his favorite words is "dominate". We may not get him another Super Bowl in his short remainder of life, but dammit we stuck it to the donks in their own building. The RRRAIDERS dominated. And it IS reason to celebrate. Because the past (almost) decade has been so hard on RRRAIDERS fans. Yet even harder on the big guy. His life's work. Nobody wants the RRRAIDERS to win more. He is their biggest fan. We could easily have 2 more wins right now. This team is definitely moving forward and progressing. The division can be had, although an early out from the playoffs would likely follow.
He's doing it again folks. He's amassed a roster of question marks, speedsters, has-beens, never-was, and league travelers. The most exciting part is that they are all young. That tells me we're heading in the right direction. And doing it his way. Giving a fat middle finger to the norm.
I wish the cameras could have panned to a smiling Mr. Davis like they always seem to do when the game is out of hand in the wrong direction to his team. So easy to be negative and pick apart a man's decisions.
This is my RAH-RAH plea to RRRAIDER NATION. If this isn't the best you've felt in 8 years, something is wrong with you. May we lose ourself in this Monday at work. Wearing what little RRRAIDER colors and logos our workplaces allow, strut past the water cooler like Ric Flair, and do it all again next Monday. From the top of the silver and black food chain to the lowest player on the depth chart. Thanks RRRAIDERS.

Damn. I wish I wouldn't have watched this. Just when I was ready to wish Jason Campbell got hit by a septic truck...I want to root for him. Listen. Anybody else who refers to AL DAVIS as "Mr. Davis" besides me is alright in my book. He's right. It's a long season. But for the love of Bo Jackson, Jason, you gotta show us fans some FIRE. That's why a mediocre talent such as Gradkowski is already a legend to us. Shake off this 9er game and whatever little bump you caught off. I know I called you a bum in a previous post. But you're not bad for a backup. And you're a nice guy. But you better get us some #### W's or I'll lead a mass prayer for that run away septic truck. Thanks alot for the timely heart warming fluffy episode, Jeanette Thompson. He's still a bum.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. I feel like the window for our youth/talent/health/contract status is running out. Mainly the anchors of our defense. Nnam&Seymour. Plus I cringe everytime Zach catches one across the middle. He gets hit ALOT. By far our best offensive player. I'd like to see us go after Vick before today's deadline. Our division is still winnable. Vick has shown off his arm and legs this season. I understand his health status. But our o line ain't getting any better anytime soon. Package up Thomas Howard and a draft pick. Plus Vick isn't too pricey yet. Get him in here hurt or not to start learning. He won't win us a Super Bowl, but I'd be willing to bet he gets us to .500 or better. I'll take that. I'm sure you all would too.
Our safties are garbage. Absolute dogshit in coverage. Anytime we go into a zone defense, these guys blow assignments. It's pretty bad when Alex Smith makes you look silly.
"Crabtree licking his chops"
??????????????????????
He should really just focus on what'll be on the other side of the ball come Sunday. NNAMDI.

My RRRAIDER RRROOM is ready for the 2010 season.
I'm calling out Snoop for this bullshit. What a fair weather fan.
I'm ready for some draft hijinx
All the mocks are just about done. The show is about to begin. As RRRAIDERS fans, we all know what our team needs. I won't insult anybody's intelligence. We're all tired of our team being the brunt of everybody's jokes. Here's a few things I've been pondering this week.
1. Why spend our 1st round draft pick on the 3rd or 4th best O-Lineman in the draft?
-Okung will be gone. Trent Williams will probably be gone. We'd seriously be overpaying the next best thing at the oline positions at this point. Actually making our selection a repeat of the past.
2. Everybody on this team should be shopped.
-As much as I hate to think of Nnamdi in a different uniform ( I just got my Authentic Jersey last year), we need to explore every avenue leading to the elusive town of Winningseasonville.
3. Can Russell avoid giving Ryan Leaf a break of burdening the biggest bust of all-time label, given a competent offensive line?
-I want this guy gone and fast. We're paying this bum whether he's on the roster or not. Aside from his attitude and work ethic, I think he can be helped with a line. But I can make that arguement for any QB in the league. Cutting him now would please me to no end.
4. Should we make an attempt to move up in the draft?
-There's only 2 players I would be willing to move up for knowing that the price will be heavy. Suh or Okung. I'd actually listen to teams willing to trade for our pick and trade down. If Claussen is still on the board for us, I'm sure we'll have options to do just that. Get more picks and hit later in the 1st round by selecting the best player available, regardless of what we need. This is a deep draft. I've heard Detroit and Kansas City are looking to trade down, possibly even Washington. Morrison needs to go. Argue that however you want with his stats, but he battled for a starting job last preseason and the world knows it. Strike while the iron is hot with him. Granted, there haven't been any media reported interest in him. Doesn't mean there won't be on draft day. Shop til we drop.
5. How many fans will we have left after another "Hey-Bey"-like pick?
-I'm finding myself alone more and more these days screaming "RRRAIDERS" on Sundays. Even the hardest of hardcores can run out of "rah-rah". I'm just hoping the few games I actually attend this season result in something other than projectile vomitting and violent ranting from the stands.
Bo Jackson Sighting
Damn I miss this this guy. Not a bad draft pick.
Shut up, Fatty.
http://www.nfl.com/videos/philadelphia-eagles/09000d5d8175fac0/Sapp-on-McNabb
Warren Sapp just won't shut up about his "Oakland Experience". Let's just forget that he was washed up when he got to us. Freshly unsuspended from beating down a skank in Miami, he's back to work running his mouth about our organization. Telling the world how he warned McNabb not to go to Oakland. Let it go.
Why does the "League-run-network" just keep alowwing him to dump on one of it's teams? Sapp has compared the league execs as "Slave owners", sucker-blocked/hospitalized a defenseless player, smoked weed thoughout his lustrious "The U" campaign. He's dogged his coaches to the media. He's dogged his teammates to the media. Now he's dogging an entire organization through the media.
Warren Sapp has no loyalty. He cares only about himself. Continuing the trend to down The Oakland Raiders whenever given the chance. In the linked interview, he describes the Redskins organization and packages it to sell to McNabb as
Warren Sapp: "A championship-ready system"
GWG's take: An unproven roster assembled by a douche bag
Warren Sapp: "We were 4-12"
GWG's take: Sounds like 1 more loss than the joke you want McNabb to avoid.
Warren Sapp: "That type of tradition and the winning that come along with it"
GWG's take: Yup, our organization doesn't have any of that tradition mumbo jumbo. I want to hit you with a shovel.
Warren Sapp: "Those 3 running backs" (while crowning the Skins prematurely)
GWG: We have a few guys too.
To sum it all up, while Warren is answering prayers for Donovan, maybe he'll answer mine. Dear God (AKA Bo Jackson), please bless the next bus driving near Mr. Sapp. Give it strength and fortitude while pummelling his chubby carcass. Give it just one passanger, camera in hand. Make that a steady, ready hand. Bless that camera and the digital image of Sapp's exploding melon it aquires and the custom fat-head I will turn it into. Bless the wall that I place that fat-head on, all the signed RRRAIDER mini helmets, the legends that make them valuable, Mr. Davis, and my Oakland RRRAIDERS. We ask this in Nnamdi's name...
AMEN.
