Brandon Wood Gets Cut..

Brandon Wood was just cut from his Winter ball team in the Dominican according to LA Times. One step forward, two steps back....

If I remember - he was terrible last winter as well. Strikeouts still high, power and average down too. Or is winter ball even that important?

Was really hoping he could build momentum off of the last 2 weeks of the season and carry through to ST. As the coaches say... I hope he "figures it out" soon.

Craig James Halftime Comment

This may have been mentioned during the game thread - but not sure since I didn't follow during the game.

Craig James mentioned that there was a substantial amount of posturing going on right now behind the scenes with agents, coaches, and ADs for soon to be vacant head coaching positions. Made it sound like their was already a significant amount of lobbying going on for top coaches that have a chance to move to bigger programs or better situations - which would make sense.

He specifically made the comment in regards to Osborne needing to get involved and not being left in the cold by making his decision too late in the season on Callahan. Meaning - delay your decision on firing your head coach and all the top talent will be spoken for by the time you make your decision.

Upon hearing this - my immediate thought was that hopefully DG is already in the "behind the scenes" mix speaking to agents of prospective candidates or favorites to take over for KD. Then after thinking about it some more, I got the sinking feeling that DG hasn't made his mind up yet with his "I will be very interested to see how we finish the season. And you can use that" comment barely coming this week.

Is this just a normal "don't give too much info to the public what your actually doing ploy" or is he truly thinking that DW is his security blanket if he decides to axe KD - which is now (at least known world wide and not just here on BN or DD) the obvious way to go.

I'm going to give him credit and say he is behind the scenes - what do you think?

On a side note - coacheshotseat.com is gonna have a hell of a time deciding who gets #1 between Charlie, Doofus, and Callahan!

Moseley in the Rotation

According to LA Times, Dustin Moseley is getting the nod over Carassco. I think both were having decent springs but for some reason I don't remember Dustin being that solid in spot start last season. Link below...

http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-angrep29mar29,1,3970399.story?coll=la-headli nes-sports-mlb-angels

At least its just keeping the rotation spot warm for Weaver

Upcoming Commercial

So my brother started getting into the acting business last year and hes already landed a Quest and Subway commercial. He just got a job on an upcoming Gatorade commercial that he is shooting. Point is that the commercial is the Yankees vs the Angels. The lucky ass got to go work and meet/get autographs from Lackey, GA, Kendrick, Hillebrand, and Speier...oh yeah, who cares - but Jeter too. Harvey Kitel is in it too...

Disclaimer: my brother is Dodger fan and pays attention to them and the NL so he doesn't know much about the Halos so i hope he was telling me the right player names that were there...

He told me everyone was prttey cool except one. He said GA is cool but really quiet, soft spoken and easy going. Lackey is a big dude and really cool - he was telling the crew/extras stories about 02 season when he got called up. He said Speier was the collest of all - real personable, telling jokes with everyone and having fun. He said Kendrick was kind of a dick though (I thought that was kind of wierd).

Quick turnaround though cause they were shooting last night at Diablo Stadium - with the FanFest just ending...

There has been a lot of Stoneman bashing sprinkled in with some praise over the last however long this site has been up (I am not particularly fond of him) - ESPN is is doing a SportsNation poll of GM rankings. Where do you rank Stoneman compared to his competition?

http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/listranker?id=617

You can also get to it by going through ESPN's MLB section

Currently Stoneman is right in the middle of the pack at 14 according to the voting...

Any bets or thoughts on if any Halo players will be on the test "positive" list if (or more accurately - when) it goes public?

100 players tested - figure maybe 2 -4 per team were tested. No clue who, if any, from the Angels were tested - just wanted to see if anyone had thoughts/guesses/predictions on it...

I know there has been a lot of speculation and wishes from some that Stoneman's job is on the line this year (His GMJ signing couldn't have helped) - but this is the first place I have actually seen it printed...
