GAMER PRICE WARS: PS3 $399 - Xbox 360 $279
So PS3 made the much anticipated move of announcing price drops for November 2nd. They will reduce the price of current models, but most importantly, will be coming out with a 40GB model for only $399. The only downer is it will not play PS2 games.
Xbox 360 has responded, according to financial times by announcing an "Xbox 360 Arcade", a new version of the core that comes with 1 wireless controller and classic arcade games for $279! Their cheapest system used to be $350.
Yessss I am getting closer to being able to afford a new system! That means eBay prices will come down too wooo hoo!
For now, I have PS2 and my gamer tag on NBA 2K8 is gsdubz! Anyone else still play one of those? LOL

I heart Jack [Mic'd up] - BD is next!
If you've been around here for a while, you'll know that I was the first outspoken Jax supporter, even way back in the day before he was on the Dubs and he beat us at the buzzer with a 3 in a game on November 29th, 2006 that I was at.
Like many, I have grown more and more fond of this dude. I just watched the hilarious video of him through Warriors.com where they put a mic on him during practice, check it out here.
Some parts I liked:
- (As Azubuike makes a handoff pass to Jax)
Jax: Ooh watch yo biceps Book! [Giggles] Tell Book to watch those biceps when he's handin' it off.
- Standing behind the basket with POB
Jax: Get your gameface on Pat... [no response]...you heard me?!
POB: Alright!
- Walks up to Mitch Richmond
Jax: What year did those Air Max's come out?
Mitch: Huh?
Jax: Nothin...
- Watching BD doing a crazy 1 handed, 1 legged layup over and over by himself inside the post.
Jax: Get to it diddy get to it [laughing]
Jax [to Mitch]: Hey watch his 1 on NONE game.
[both laugh] He really be shootin those shots!
Oh oh! You see his leg? He's in his own world.
Update [2007-10-14 16:19:8 by GSDubz]: Warriors.com is stating that BD will also have a video in the coming days from when he was mic'd up. Can't wait!

Jack's New Tattoo: Revisited
Hey guys, I know it's been discussed a few times, but references to Jack's new tattoo on here have been a little off. I was suspicious at the analysis that it's "a picture of him holding a gun", cuz I saw it a little bit differently. I thought it was him praying under a cross with a gun in his hands, or something really deeper than him just "holding a gun". Alas, on the front page of espn.com, there's a story on his new leadership role and they discuss exactly what I THOUGHT the tattoo was of:
Jackson, who is sporting a new tattoo, says the ink references his past while looking to his future. The image shows two praying hands in front of a church window holding a gun.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3048676
I give props to Jack for his leadership and maturity. Just a friendly reminder that he had no criminal past before the palace brawl, worked his butt off to make it into the NBA, and I personally was never against him either before he was a Warrior or even during his trial when he first became a Warrior while many people were still saying dunmurphy might have been better, or were presumably accusing him and predicting he would be locked up.
Go Dubs!

Training Camp: Day 2!

I'll spare the quotes so you guys can read it yourself, but here are some highlights:

First 24 Hours of Training Camp - School's back in session!
Wow I came across this terrific article that basically follows the Warriors from media day all the way to day 1 in Hawaii! Unbelievable chemistry, teams like this happen only once in a lifetime, I cannot wait!
This was my favorite part, during the plane ride to Hawaii, and I almost fell out of my chair laughing:
First-class is hopping. New captains Jackson, Davis and Barnes rule the roost here, at least according to Jackson. "That's the godfather," Jackson says, pointing back to Davis. "We're the under-bosses. He makes the calls." "And we enforce them," says Barnes. One rule: No rookies in first-class.
under-bosses!! HAHAAH that's a webpin waiting to happen. someone make it please!
One more:
The spirited workout and the Warriors' first 24 hours of the 2007-08 season end with Davis and rookie Marco Belinelli competing in a 35-foot three-point shooting contest. Belinelli should have gotten advice from Sidney Moncrief, hired Tuesday as a shooting coach; Davis won 4-3.

ESPN: Warriors tell B Davis NO
(Sighs)
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3041720
Sources told ESPN.com that Davis' agent, Todd Ramasar, was informed in a meeting with the Warriors this week that the club prefers to wait until after the coming season to sign Davis to an extension, even though that opens up Golden State to the possibility of losing its point guard and leader in the 2008 free agency market.
How in the heck is it that I've posted 3 diaries today? Guess being off work and bored has turned me into a diary machine.
Well ladies and gentlemen, time for the old GSDubZ to step to the plate here. The Warriors are gonna wait on signing BD to an extension, and I think that's a horrible mistake. BD is more important than anyone on the team, by FAR, and I mean FARRR, like, Brandan Wright wingspan FAR. Furthermore, despite his injuries and the amount of money and his age, I feel that supporting BD in this certain situation just shows who the more hardcore fans are.
OOH! YA I SAID IT! He did it in the best way he could, at the best time he could, and he deserves it. Bottom line. Mullie & Co. could have made a better move here.
Ah well.
Go ahead and attack away ladies and gents! If you're on my side please speak up!

Report: C-Webb offered $12M in Europe
ESPN is reporting that C Webb has the highest offer ever for an American player to play for a Greek professional bball squad for 2 years. He will decide this weekend whether he'll take it or stay in Detroit.
Two sources familiar with the offer told ESPN.com that Olympiacos was offering a two-year deal that would net Webber between $10 million and $12 million, which would make him the highest-paid American player in Europe.

Think he'll do it? I think he should. Just my opinion.

Hardaway: Doing the Right Thing
It appears that Tim Hardaway has really taken steps to educate himself and become more conscious and aware after his discriminatory comments.
"I've always told my family, there's going to be bumps in the road," Hardaway said. "And I caused a huge bump, the biggest bump in my life. But I'm going to do whatever I can to correct it. That's all I can do. So that's where I am."
That process began in earnest when he learned of the institute, which has classes and programs designed to raise awareness on issues facing "gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and all youth."
The group, founded in 1996, seeks to prevent teen suicides while boosting the self-esteem of children and keeping them free of violence and discrimination.
"I was scared out of my ... mind," Hardaway said of his first visit. "I didn't know how they were going to act toward me. But you know what? They welcomed me with open arms. That eased a lot of my nervousness."
So he went back a second time, then a third, then a fourth.
And that early apprehension is now gone. His photo appears on the group's Web site, smiling alongside some members of the institute's staff.
"We were surprised how real our relationship with Tim got," Fugate said.
He's now considered a friend there, and his presence is so valued that Fugate released a letter earlier this month touting the work Hardaway has done.
"Thanks to his honest albeit misguided reaction, Tim did find his way to YES Institute and the education he got was not just about others, but about himself," Fugate wrote. "Because he is a role model, perhaps other people will also learn -- hopefully before bad consequences happen to them."
It's funny when you look at how other individuals have reacted to discrimination allegations and you see a huge difference in their approach. He went quiet, didn't want any recognition for the work he did to educate himself and reach out to the community he offended, and to this day, still really wants to stay relatively under the radar to avoid the label of "making amends" and instead try to learn and become more conscious. I gotta give him mad props for doing the right thing.
But seeing as how this is an internet blog, I am sure there are people dying to still bash him, so go right ahead ladies and gents cuz it's a free country!
(But seriously, I hope you don't, I 100% forgive the guy and am proud of how he dealt with the situation).

BREAKING NEWS: AK-47 leaving for Europe? (Update: Deron interview)
My first diary in 6 months! I know there's a huge huge AK 47 trade demand thread, but guess what? He's going to leave the $63M and go play in Europe, the man truly loves the game!
(ORRRRR, he's really pressuring the Jazz to trade him...either way, gotta give the man props).
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3029816
LETS SEE IF MY DIARY MAKES IT!
==========================================
[Moderator's Note, by OptionZero:]
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Deron went off on AK47:
In a Friday afternoon radio interview on 1280 the Zone, Williams told Salt Lake Tribune columnist Gordon Monson and co-host Kevin Graham that Kirilenko can be "a special player for us" if he returns with the right attitude.Williams goes on to say: - the Jazz need AK47 - he (Williams) would make it his job to help Ak47 improve next season - the Jazz do need to work on different ways of getting him involved
I recommend reading the whole article, its an interesting take.
