GAMER PRICE WARS: PS3 $399 - Xbox 360 $279
So PS3 made the much anticipated move of announcing price drops for November 2nd. They will reduce the price of current models, but most importantly, will be coming out with a 40GB model for only $399. The only downer is it will not play PS2 games.
Xbox 360 has responded, according to financial times by announcing an "Xbox 360 Arcade", a new version of the core that comes with 1 wireless controller and classic arcade games for $279! Their cheapest system used to be $350.
Yessss I am getting closer to being able to afford a new system! That means eBay prices will come down too wooo hoo!
For now, I have PS2 and my gamer tag on NBA 2K8 is gsdubz! Anyone else still play one of those? LOL
I heart Jack [Mic'd up] - BD is next!
If you've been around here for a while, you'll know that I was the first outspoken Jax supporter, even way back in the day before he was on the Dubs and he beat us at the buzzer with a 3 in a game on November 29th, 2006 that I was at.
Like many, I have grown more and more fond of this dude. I just watched the hilarious video of him through Warriors.com where they put a mic on him during practice, check it out here.
Some parts I liked:
- (As Azubuike makes a handoff pass to Jax)
Jax: Ooh watch yo biceps Book! [Giggles] Tell Book to watch those biceps when he's handin' it off.
- Standing behind the basket with POB
Jax: Get your gameface on Pat... [no response]...you heard me?!
POB: Alright!
- Walks up to Mitch Richmond
Jax: What year did those Air Max's come out?
Mitch: Huh?
Jax: Nothin...
- Watching BD doing a crazy 1 handed, 1 legged layup over and over by himself inside the post.
Jax: Get to it diddy get to it [laughing]
Jax [to Mitch]: Hey watch his 1 on NONE game.
[both laugh] He really be shootin those shots!
Oh oh! You see his leg? He's in his own world.
Update [2007-10-14 16:19:8 by GSDubz]: Warriors.com is stating that BD will also have a video in the coming days from when he was mic'd up. Can't wait!
Jack's New Tattoo: Revisited
Hey guys, I know it's been discussed a few times, but references to Jack's new tattoo on here have been a little off. I was suspicious at the analysis that it's "a picture of him holding a gun", cuz I saw it a little bit differently. I thought it was him praying under a cross with a gun in his hands, or something really deeper than him just "holding a gun". Alas, on the front page of espn.com, there's a story on his new leadership role and they discuss exactly what I THOUGHT the tattoo was of:
Jackson, who is sporting a new tattoo, says the ink references his past while looking to his future. The image shows two praying hands in front of a church window holding a gun.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3048676
I give props to Jack for his leadership and maturity. Just a friendly reminder that he had no criminal past before the palace brawl, worked his butt off to make it into the NBA, and I personally was never against him either before he was a Warrior or even during his trial when he first became a Warrior while many people were still saying dunmurphy might have been better, or were presumably accusing him and predicting he would be locked up.
Go Dubs!
Training Camp: Day 2!
www.warriors.com has updated training camp for day 2 and it includes a hilarious insiders video.
OMG this whole thing is just hella exciting, or is it just me being obsessive?
I'll spare the quotes so you guys can read it yourself, but here are some highlights:
First 24 Hours of Training Camp - School's back in session!
Wow I came across this terrific article that basically follows the Warriors from media day all the way to day 1 in Hawaii! Unbelievable chemistry, teams like this happen only once in a lifetime, I cannot wait!
This was my favorite part, during the plane ride to Hawaii, and I almost fell out of my chair laughing:
First-class is hopping. New captains Jackson, Davis and Barnes rule the roost here, at least according to Jackson. "That's the godfather," Jackson says, pointing back to Davis. "We're the under-bosses. He makes the calls." "And we enforce them," says Barnes. One rule: No rookies in first-class.
under-bosses!! HAHAAH that's a webpin waiting to happen. someone make it please!
One more:
The spirited workout and the Warriors' first 24 hours of the 2007-08 season end with Davis and rookie Marco Belinelli competing in a 35-foot three-point shooting contest. Belinelli should have gotten advice from Sidney Moncrief, hired Tuesday as a shooting coach; Davis won 4-3.

ESPN: Warriors tell B Davis NO
(Sighs)
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3041720
Sources told ESPN.com that Davis' agent, Todd Ramasar, was informed in a meeting with the Warriors this week that the club prefers to wait until after the coming season to sign Davis to an extension, even though that opens up Golden State to the possibility of losing its point guard and leader in the 2008 free agency market.
How in the heck is it that I've posted 3 diaries today? Guess being off work and bored has turned me into a diary machine.
Well ladies and gentlemen, time for the old GSDubZ to step to the plate here. The Warriors are gonna wait on signing BD to an extension, and I think that's a horrible mistake. BD is more important than anyone on the team, by FAR, and I mean FARRR, like, Brandan Wright wingspan FAR. Furthermore, despite his injuries and the amount of money and his age, I feel that supporting BD in this certain situation just shows who the more hardcore fans are.
OOH! YA I SAID IT! He did it in the best way he could, at the best time he could, and he deserves it. Bottom line. Mullie & Co. could have made a better move here.
Ah well.
Go ahead and attack away ladies and gents! If you're on my side please speak up!
Report: C-Webb offered $12M in Europe
ESPN is reporting that C Webb has the highest offer ever for an American player to play for a Greek professional bball squad for 2 years. He will decide this weekend whether he'll take it or stay in Detroit.
Two sources familiar with the offer told ESPN.com that Olympiacos was offering a two-year deal that would net Webber between $10 million and $12 million, which would make him the highest-paid American player in Europe.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3040997
Think he'll do it? I think he should. Just my opinion.
Hardaway: Doing the Right Thing
It appears that Tim Hardaway has really taken steps to educate himself and become more conscious and aware after his discriminatory comments.
"I've always told my family, there's going to be bumps in the road," Hardaway said. "And I caused a huge bump, the biggest bump in my life. But I'm going to do whatever I can to correct it. That's all I can do. So that's where I am."
That process began in earnest when he learned of the institute, which has classes and programs designed to raise awareness on issues facing "gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and all youth."
The group, founded in 1996, seeks to prevent teen suicides while boosting the self-esteem of children and keeping them free of violence and discrimination.
"I was scared out of my ... mind," Hardaway said of his first visit. "I didn't know how they were going to act toward me. But you know what? They welcomed me with open arms. That eased a lot of my nervousness."
So he went back a second time, then a third, then a fourth.
And that early apprehension is now gone. His photo appears on the group's Web site, smiling alongside some members of the institute's staff.
"We were surprised how real our relationship with Tim got," Fugate said.
He's now considered a friend there, and his presence is so valued that Fugate released a letter earlier this month touting the work Hardaway has done.
"Thanks to his honest albeit misguided reaction, Tim did find his way to YES Institute and the education he got was not just about others, but about himself," Fugate wrote. "Because he is a role model, perhaps other people will also learn -- hopefully before bad consequences happen to them."
It's funny when you look at how other individuals have reacted to discrimination allegations and you see a huge difference in their approach. He went quiet, didn't want any recognition for the work he did to educate himself and reach out to the community he offended, and to this day, still really wants to stay relatively under the radar to avoid the label of "making amends" and instead try to learn and become more conscious. I gotta give him mad props for doing the right thing.
But seeing as how this is an internet blog, I am sure there are people dying to still bash him, so go right ahead ladies and gents cuz it's a free country!
(But seriously, I hope you don't, I 100% forgive the guy and am proud of how he dealt with the situation).
BREAKING NEWS: AK-47 leaving for Europe? (Update: Deron interview)
My first diary in 6 months! I know there's a huge huge AK 47 trade demand thread, but guess what? He's going to leave the $63M and go play in Europe, the man truly loves the game!
(ORRRRR, he's really pressuring the Jazz to trade him...either way, gotta give the man props).
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3029816
LETS SEE IF MY DIARY MAKES IT!
==========================================
[Moderator's Note, by OptionZero:]
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Deron went off on AK47:
In a Friday afternoon radio interview on 1280 the Zone, Williams told Salt Lake Tribune columnist Gordon Monson and co-host Kevin Graham that Kirilenko can be "a special player for us" if he returns with the right attitude.Williams goes on to say: - the Jazz need AK47 - he (Williams) would make it his job to help Ak47 improve next season - the Jazz do need to work on different ways of getting him involved
I recommend reading the whole article, its an interesting take.
GSDubZ' Photo Recap of 06-07!!!!
Alas, our historic season has ended, but the future is bright and basketball is BACK in the Bay. To recap the season, I thought I would go with a comedic edge and post my favorite pictures in my personal collection.
Below I have 30 photos, both from the season and from the playoffs, which reflect on some great memories I have, with a little bit of imaginataroy captioning to make it fun.
I hope you guys laugh, if you feel offended, please do not be, I am only trying to have a good laugh, and I'm sick of being accused of attacking people (see NBA Season is Over for more details.)

Update: online Warrior 2K7 league
Whatsup guys! I'm real sorry to post this again but I made a huge mistake and forgot to make the new league private, and a bunch of loser non-warrior fans joined =( But now I've restarted it with a private setting to ensure only we play! So if you signed up earlier, please sign up AGAIN!
------------------------------------------------
We have started a new NBA 2K7 league.
The password to join is: bdmvp
We've been doing this for 3 seasons, this is the 4th season. The first season there were 4 players, then there were 6, then 8, and now we hope to get as many as we can! It's very fun, because we are all Warrior fans, and you can write your own hilarious recaps and add pictures. Most of us just play our games on the weekends for a little recreation away from our jobs and school or whatever you do M-F. BTW it's on PS2. This is the system the most # of people had access to. Not to mention, you can still play NBA 2K7 (ps2 version) on your ps3's as well. Sorry xbox users! You can make your own league too!
Anyways, the rules are simple, and you can kinda get an idea of how it runs by looking at the website from our last league:
Check out the results of last seasons contraversial playoffs too!
The last league was called "Toyota Warriors". It was fun overall, but some planning errors caused it to sorta die down, and I really apologize to Tobin and LLAMA for having their playoffs forfeited... but we've revised things now.
Signup now! Post any questions you got, with AIM contact info please. Thanks.
From Run TMC to the Warrior REVOLUTION
So they asked B.D. in the post game press conference about Raider Nation joining the Warriors along with A's fans... and he responded well saying they're working in part with the community to bring back basketball and bring it to the Bay, and I got to thinking... after that DUNK tonight that just blew the planet Earth's mind, these Warriors have hit their mark. They deserve their own name, their own title, sort of like Run TMC back in the day... and the only thing that makes sense to me is something that signifies the rebirth of basketball in our community, a la the "Warrior Revolution", led by B.D. So if we ever look back we could talk about it, like we talk about the "Run TMC" days, we can talk about the "Warrior Revolution" days lol.
What do you think?

"Limited Ticket Sale" - BOGUS
Man I must have bad luck, but usually I'm really fast on the web and I just tried about 60 times in the last half hour to buy tickets for game 3 or game 4, (limited number of tickets were on sale at 2pm today), and I didn't get NOTHING.
Stress the "limited". I estimate they probably only had like 20 tickets, and they were probably standing room only. The Warriors are really messed up for advertising this, is this because they are "required" to have some sort of public offering? If so, then this is a really token offering cuz this sucks. Several people have complained about this, and now I see why.
This is bogus. The Warriors sales office is not even nice, I remember towards the end of the season they called me, I missed the call and called back, and the guy hung up on me because I wouldn't give him my name and address so he could direct me to my "assigned" rep. Dude, I am returning a freaking phone call, at least tell me what the hell this call is about? Outrageous, I hate this, the Warriors have forgotten about their poor fans that can't afford $300 seats through craigslist/ebay and actually sit at home and count down the minutes to the "limited public ticket sale".
Please vent your stories below.
Warriors favored by 6 points!!!
Moving onto game #3, I think it's interesting to note that even though we're a #8 seed playing a #4 seed, the Warriors have earned enough respect to finally be favored in a playoff game! And by 6 points!
The closest we were was favored before this, was in the Dallas series where they picked us to lose by only 2 in a home game against Dallas, (that was game 6, that we won!) In the last Utah game, Utah was favored by 3, (god I wish MP2 could have pulled an Andris and hit a FT for the upset! All good though.)
Anyways this is a proud moment. When the "experts" in sports have finally given the Warriors this much respect, I think we can take care of business, blow Utah out of the water in the next 2 games, (I say we win both by 13+), and then take the momentum into Utah to win 1 in Salt Lake City. All we need is 1 win in Utah, and we have 2 more chances, plus the Jazz are DEFINITELY scared. In the Houston series, they blew out Houston in every game in energysolutions arena, so this is making them nervous.

"WE BELIEVE" on American Idol
I thought this was hilarious, and thanks to my DVR, I rewound it to make sure it was for real. On American Idol tonight, I believe when Lakisha Jones was performing her 2nd number, a fan had a huge sign in yellow with blue fonts that directly immitates the warriors "we believe" sign, font and all, and it says "we believe" and then on the next line "in Lakisha Jones". I was laughing so hard! Our little movement has now struck the #1 watched show in the world. Unbelievable. Who else saw that? Wish I could find a pic of it.
What happened to Monta?
Does anyone know what the hell happened to Monta? Where was he? Did he even play? Do you think we could have used his penetration? Will he help us in this series now that Al Harrington has contributed?
I'm not sure what to think, other than this team is deeper than Dallas and we need our full 8 man rotation to have a good shot.

Study: NBA Refs Racially BIASED
Report: Study suggests racial bias in calls by NBA referees
Here's a chance for us to prove we're not "Conservative State of Mind", and really express our opinions. This is DEFINITELY relevant considering the questionable calls against us last night.
The study, conducted over a 13-season span through 2004, found that the racial makeup of a three-man officiating crew affected calls by up to 4 1/2 percent.
black players receive around 0.12-0.20 more fouls per 48 minutes played (an increase of 2 1/2 -4 1/2 percent) when the number of white referees officiating a game increases from zero to three."
Nellie declares Baron GREATEST EVER
On the Warriors.com playoff blog, they interviewed Nellie today at practice and he said
"I've coached some great players, but I've never coached a guy that's any better than Baron Davis."
O M G! That is an amazing thing for him to say... I always knew, I always knew, but now, I'm hella happy, not just about the playoffs this year but about our offseason (I smell an acquisition!) and the future of this PLAYOFF franchise!

Brian McKnight singing Anthem
Wooo hoooo so I know a lot of folks came on here and complained about recorded National Anthems, well I just noticed on the Game 3 preview that Brian McKnight will be doing the anthem tonight! I THINK THAT WILL DO! LOL. Tonight will be sooo special it will be off the chains, have fun anyone that is going. Me, I'll be having a party at my house and watching it in my living room with about 30 bandwagons (my entire family) lol.
Start Andris?
When we ended Dallas' 17 game win streak in March at the Oracle, we started Andris, and they "only" scored 100. I don't think we can let the Mavs score more than 100 if we really want to win. Monta's been cold, and Andris starting would allow him to warm up better defensively and stop some of those easy Howard/Ferry layups that kill us.
What do you guys thinks? Should we alter this lineup?
P.S. I know his name's Terry but I don't like him and his dirty shoves/trash talk, I think he's cheap and overrated for playing with Howard/Dirk.
Hey HARRINGTON! J-Rich! WTF?!?!?!
OK ALL YOU WARRIOR BANDWAGONS AND ALLEGED WARRIOR FANS WHO DO NOTHING BUT CRITICIZE PLAYERS NAMED JACKSON/DAVIS, I GOT SOMETHING FOR YOU.
whoops sorry for the caps.
OK I know you don't like to blame refs, neither do I, (I'm just ticked about that whole 'altercation' where we got more T's than the Mavs). But tonight, it's fair to say WE LOST.
Jax - the guy scored 30! Give him a break, he was frustrated, lost his cool, made no difference in the outcome.
Baron - HIS KNEE was sore, period. We were gettin whooped, his shot was off, he DID deserve 1 of his technicals (I guessssss).
Monta - played much better
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
What about:
Jrich:?????????
AL?????????????
All of you haters that say it's OUR fault, well go ahead!! Tell me what you think about these 2 guys not performing well for us? HUH? You sure as hell can't blame Baron or Jax and then not rip JRich or Al?
Personally, i'd rather find any excuse rather than rip any of my players (unless their named dunleavy), but since so many of you pretend Warrior fans like to blame our own team, what do you have to say about these guys?
I'm curious.
Avery robbed
Despite how much we hate the Mavs, and how bad they play against the W's, and how overrated they are, bleh bleh bleh, I still gotta say Avery got robbed. I mean he took his team of choke artists to almost 70 wins, and by far the best record in the league, but they give coach of the year to Sam Mitchell, whose team probably won't even win 1 game against New Jersey.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-nbacoachaward&prov=ap&type=lgns
I think Avery gets blamed too much for his teams choking. His lineup wasn't that bad, it was people like Dirk shooting 4/16 and his team missing 11 layups (thanks to 1 DUB defense!) that lost that game. I hate the Mavs, but lil Avery Johnson is sure getting a lot of heat for a bad game 1!

Nellie vs. Cuban - The attacks begin!!!
So this morning on the way to work, (which btw I ended up being late for cuz of this), they said Don Nelson would be on the Murph & Mac show in 2 mins. So I waited in my car, and sure enough, (15 commercial minutes later), Nellie was on, funny as ever.
http://media.knbr.com/knbr/0419nelson.mp3
As usual, he was humorous and skirted around the serious questions well. Then he got the ultimate one. They asked him to talk about Chris Cohan, (I assume, post-many years of mistakes after Nellie left). Gulp. I was like how will he handle it? "Well like his wife said, he's really matured since I left last time" LOL, old man maturing? Classic... but then... Nellie got hella serious for a while, and I realized what it was...
The beauty about Chris is he doesn't pretend to know what's going on- on the basketball court, and he let's his basketball people run the operation. Usually, owners get real smart, even though they're dumber than rocks when they buy the team, after a year or two they think they know everything ... I still don't know everything and I've been in it my whole life! So anyways, that's the positive about Chris.
WOW! Who is he referring to I wonder? Hmmmm could it possibly be the man who he is rumored to be in possible litigation with? LOL. Bring on the rivalry!!
P.S. Great note on Jax, after the game, Baron made the cameras shut off in the locker room, and gave a pep talk that Nellie said even he couldn't come up with. Then, Jax got up and said "Hey, I don't like NO coaches... but I LOVE this man" - Nellie said it's the best compliment he's ever received.

Hear that? It's your HEART BEATING
I cannot sleep. When I try to, here's what happens.
I close my eyes... Walking to class, jerseys all around, jackets, hoodies, hats, balls bouncing, buzz in the air, "We got next!... just don't pull no Sprewell on me blood!"... laughter, dissapointment, denial...
I close my eyes... Todd who? Someone changes the channel, Bulls game...
I close my eyes... Watching the finals, beach weather...they're booing me for my Antawn jersey, but I'm praying... please SAC, just beat them and I'll respect u... just end it... the shot misses, YES!... wait...Horry with the rebound, for the 3... game over. I exit quietly.
I close my eyes... he jumps in the air... between his legs.... reverse dunk! Did that just happen? Will he break Jordan's record?! What? He doesn't get the trophy? Am I dreaming? If only he was on another team...
I close my eyes... the rumors swirl... who? how much? what rule? no hand shake? why not! No! He's on the Wizards?!...
I close my eyes... the 2nd pick goes to: Chicago!
I close my eyes... "Everybody on this team has gotten booed this year... I think that says a lot more about the fans than it does the players"...
I close my eyes... .1 back on the clock? Three for three.
I close my eyes ... Jackson? Harrington? Monta? Baron? Dris? JR? Mp2, Barnes?!
This time I awake, in a cold sweat... that last one is now... and if tonight goes as we hope, those bad memories will finally begin to go away, and we can start to heal.
