Urban Meyer to Broncos? NO Way
Yeah, this really makes no sense but brings up an interesting proposition. As i was studying for my midterms i put together the facts that Josh Mcdaniels was fired this week really less than 50 hours from the time we all knew that Mr. Meyer will not come back as Florida Gator Head Coach but an interesting thought popped into my mind which in reality, has no place, but in the minds of Tebow fans (Def. Not me, not because I am a gator fan but becasue he had too much hype). But for the question: Is there any way Josh Mcdaniels was fired because The Broncos saught out Urban Meyer? And WHO plays backup QB for them, yes mr tebow. This is really just a bunch of bull but made me think of things a different way, and a little spice to an other wise boring week for me with the exception of tonights action and of course, Sunday vs the Raiders. But seriously, just imagine.......
Jaguars Didnt get skill players... dont worry 2011 is just 1 year away
Jaguars Didnt get skill players... dont worry 2011 is just 1 year away
Man, I cant wait till next year. There are a plethora of skill position players and pass rushers available in the 2011 nfl draft. Quarterbacks flood neext years crop with Jake locker, Andrew luck and Ryan Mallet. FSU fans, Christian ponder is quite the prospect too. Ryan Mallet just screams nfl arm and plays in a pro style system in Arkasnas. Luck Ressurected a dormat stanford program. Now, i know this is a long time away but man what a class. Plus, mark ingram will probobly be available to spell MJD although this might not be the best fit.
Wide Recievers, no problem. The dynamic SEC duo of julio jones and aj green make up a great wr class. Michael floyd from notre dame is a beast with his size. There is a kid from Pitt who is just a monster and being compared to Larry Fitzgerald. Julio jones is prone to drops but nevertheless is a beast as is aj green.. i mean, they were impact players as true freshman.
A little worried we didnt get our blue chip pass rusher, no worries. Greg Romeous PITT and Adrian Clayborn IOWA are monsters. Romeous is a guy like Jason pierre paul, a guy who is raw, but immensly talented. But i think the real meat of this crop is with Daquan bowers from clemson and robert Quinn from north carolina Bowers, the ex number one recuit in the nation is just extremly skilled and Robert Quinn just screams out Julious Peppers. Cameron Hayward from OSU seems to be a skilled player but not as much so as the two i just mentioned. A guy that i feel i need to throw in as well is Marcell Dareus from Alabama. This is the guy whom Colt McCoy will never be friends with. This was the guy who knocked him out of the national title game.
All of these guys can impact any team right away, another thing is that there are so many that we can have a decent season and yet still pick one of these guys up. Well, if any one can tell me who the kid from PITT is ill appreciate it along with your comments on these players, who fits best in our system and whether or not you guys think these guys are FOR REAL.
Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton vs. this years o-line class
The o-line draft class that this year brings is very interesting and has something that was not very evident last year.
Last year there were a lot of centers taken but this year i dont see a lot of guys that i really consider top notch. I dont think that mike iupati is anything special, just a big body that at the senior bowl showed poor teechinique b/c he tried to grab the deffender as opposed to really striking him. This will get you beat when a dwight freeny or even a derrick harvey.......( i might be pushin it)
The tackle class is very different from last years, this year there is a lot more depth at the tackle position in the first couple of rounds. Eugene Monroe really has exceptional athletic ability and had a specialty of pass protection coming out of college. i personally would not want any of this years o line for monroe ( i would like to hear some thoughts on this).
Earlier on i thought that Britton was a little better than monroe but that was possibly to the fact that monroe held out for a long time.
Britton looks strong, athletic and really has a great attitude toward the team. i really like brian bulaga from iowa as he manhandled Derrick Morgan in the orange bowl. Bruce cambpell has some upside out of maryland.
Anthony davis seems to be like a young Eugene monroe like in his sophomore year. Davis has a ton of potential but we dont know how that will translate into the nfl b/c some say that his attitude is not good.
I leave all the blue chippers out cuz russell okung would not fall past the first 5 picks and trent williams i think is worth nothing b/c he fell so much from last year, i mean he first started at tackle and finished up at center??
i Really like our o line the way it is perhaps drafting a center to replace meest once he leaves but thats for another story.
Id like to hear your thoughts on this years o line crop and whether you would take anyone above britton or monroe
Jets and the Jaguars: why they are alike
Remember the good ole days, back when went up to pittsburgh and beat them, Twice, in the snow. Man what a team, well i guess when the jags fell off the pedastal i think we might have gave the torch to the NEW YORK JETS. Why???? b/c they pretty imitate a great deal of what we did back then. With the exceptions that there was not really a wildcat back then and the fact that we did not have a rookie at quarterbacak (Garrard could have been considered one back then). This team reminds me so much of what we did in 2007.
On the deffensive side of the ball, the SWAGGER that the jets have right now was evident in that year for us. Now, the schemes were vastly different and the style of head coaches is totally different, but the attitude is there. It was there for the Baltimore Ravens back in their super bowl year ( rex ryan coached d line).Rexs deffense is extremly aggresive and ours was more conservative.
Offensivley, we had our two pronged attack with FRED TAYLOR AND MJD while the jets have SHONNE GREEN AND THOMAS JONES RUNNING THE SHOW. But another thing are the offensive lines. We had one hell of an offensive line in 2007 (although not as good as the jets) but the holes they gave not only our running backs but our querterback too (thinking of THE PLAY when GARRARD ran a QB draw to put us in field goal position to win the game).
Id like too hear your thoughts on the jets, how far they can go (not much left really) and other comparisons u can think of.
Why Reggie Nelson does not belong
Reggie Nelson, man what an athlete.....but at the college level. We took him in the first round of the draft a couple of years ago and since, he really has not showed all that much or at all. This season was supposed to be his "coming out year" and this kid just blew it up.
Being a gator fan, this kid created havoc on opposind deffenses with not only his athletisim but also his hitting ability. I have not seen one big hit from him, one wrap up ect. from him. This kid just cant wrap up, simple. HE DOES NOT BELONG . The colts game had to be the biggest example. On a nationally televised game (NFL network counts) he blew it. The first play, a completly embarrasing attempt on tackling DALLAS CLARK where he just stuck his head in his crocth hopin to get a grab at something. And more importantly, this lead to a touchdown.
The second one, and the worst one, blown coverage on REGGIE WAYNE in the final minutes of the game. i mean cmon man, peytons last drive and u just gotta think that hes goin to him. Then after the blown coverage and the catch( i hope u know where im goin with this) reggie chases him down and just gives no effort at all in a tackle, he could have at least pushed him out of bounds, but tries give him a hug that my grandma wouldnt accept. We were in the game at this point and thru out the game for that matter, but this play just made us drive down the field in the final minutes and get a touchdown with GARRARD at the helm, which is not possible.
Finally, the tennesee game. Putting him at corner makes somewhat sense becasue of his ATHLETIC ABILITY but this man just cant tackle period. i saw we get a safety in the draft and get this guy out of here
HE DOES NOT BELONG
Favre not to go to the viks
It has been reprted that Brett Favre will not be a part of the Minnesota Vikings this season. This sort of bums me out because i was expecting some kind of drama from all of this like we did last year. I am not surprised by this though because favre is really old and will not be back into pro bowl form. He is washed up and would be like a vinny testavarde with his problems.
Jags moving to a 3-4 defense
Just kidding.
But, with Mel Tucker at DC and a deffensive minded coach like jack, i could see it happening. After all, Mel tucker did run a 3-4 deffense up in Clevland before he got fired. Who knows, if it was the players or the coach( i am going to go with the players). Anyway, i think it would be cool and kind of exciting to see the jags running a little bit of 3-4 after running the 4-3 for so long. The team did announce that they might run a little of 3-4 but i think some people think we dont have the personel to run a 3-4. Lets take a look.
First, D line: Henderson would obviously run the NT in this deffense with his power and his strength. The man is also pretty big and has the size and IQ. His size is on par with most of the other NT in the league.
DEs: Knighton could poosibly move out and Hayward or landri could move out to the other DE spot. Knighton is big and athletic. Landri is also athletic and could penetrate as well as Hayward.
LBs: in the middle, you have to go Durant and Smith and on the outside i see Groves playing rush linebacker like he did at college and had great ability, he lead the SEC in QB pressures. On the other side, i dont see harvey playing there because he has never played there and i have my doubts whether or not he can tackle in the open field. any way I see Ingram stepping in there for some good run support.
Rasha Jennings: why he can impact the Jags.
Rasha( as i call him) might be the steal of the draft. I say this because this man hass the whole packege, with some techinique issues that he has at times. He is fast, strong and flat out knows how to run with the football. If he would have stayed at the university of pitt, i think this guy would be no less than a fourth round pick. The only problem is that he runs up right a bit and could get hammered pretty easily by linebackers while he is running thru the hole, although this is nothing Kennedy Pola cant fix. This flaw could limit his production in short yardege situations. I am not saying that this guy or any of the second day picks are our " saviors" but i am just trying to be optimistic. This man is a raw athlete, a very interesting propect. I think he is better than greg jones at complimenting MJD b/c jones is just too bulky. He has got little agility. Now, for short yardage situations i think that we can all agree that MJD is great at this, but Jones is a big man and very hard to stop. Also, i just dont see owens taking over duties for the fullback position. Simply put, Rasha is a beast, a man that no one could stop in collage, but in the pros, you never know........
!!!!!! Favre and Childress to meet about coming back!!!!!
Favre and Childress are going to meet later on in the week disscussing Favre coming back from retirement. This is exciting and i will keep you guys posted on this one. We could be in for a good one.
Another thing, This could change my look on the NFL this season. The vikings could make some noise in that division with the Packers and especially the Bears with Jay cutler. i was never honestly too pumped about favre coming back to the Jets but something says that this could have a different result
Why we could compete for the AFC crown
Well, I know that Garrard will go back to his normal form( 20tds less than 6 ints)
but the question will be if our guard play can dominate the other teams DT play. I know there has been talk that Britton will play guard which is a possibility but he has never played there. Vince Manuwai had a torn ACL last year and you never know how you will bounce back, especially a big guy. We are good at tackle with four legit players( thomas, pashos, britton, and monroe). Center with brad is solid.
Now, MJD should and hopefully come this year and rush for more than1600 yds and with jennings and jones giving him a short yard compliment, i think the run game is great.
Wideouts, this has been the question since jimmy left, we have a vet and a handfull of rookies that can produce later on. Williamson i think is gone because he cant catch. Northcut is decent but definantly not a starter.
Tight ends this year are no more than average. Lewis can block, but i dont think he is polished as a reciever yet even though that was his best trait commin out of college. The rookie miller shows promise and maybe in a coulple of years, he can become a down field threat.
The x factor this season will be the D line. Simply put, if we get sacks and stop the run, we win games. If they play like they did last year, well, you know.......
Linebackers are doin well, although i personally dont thinks that smith should be moved to outside again. Durant does not belong in the middle, he has more speed than smith and should play on the outside. Ingram can play, he just did not last year. His rookie year was great but watch out for him this year.
Corners i think will be good this year because mathis is mathis and williams can produce. If Cox can eventually get into that 2 spot, i think this could be a great secondary for years except for one question......
Can nelson get down and dirty with the big boys. Can he tackle, i have not seen it. Considine is somewhat proven but he played little last yeart and did not start a game. If considine can limit his mistakes i think he should do well.
I gotta get at least one paragraph to SP teams b/c they could win / lose games. Podlesh flat out sucks and did not produce last year. i remember that he got a punt for a whopping 20 yds last year. I think the reins( if you will) go to Weatherford. Scobee has a leg and the return game with Witherspoon is promising is he can hold on to the ball!!! Thomas can also return kicks though.
Jags will compete for AFC south crown
When you think about it, the jags will be able to compete this year in the AFC south crown.
I am not saying that we are going to win but if you look at the other teams, we have a chance.
1. Titans, Haynesworth left which MJD loves and i dont think that Kerry Collins is going to have a good year
mainly because he is old. They did improve their wide outs but they dont have a replacement now for Haynesworth./
James Jones is good, but I predict that they will go 11-5
2. Colts, Peyton is Peyton, nothing you can do. Run game is run down and donald brown should not give the colts a 1000 yd rusher.
Ziggy hood is not going to solve any immediate problems at DT and the rest of the deffense, especially the LBs are not that good.
If Bob Sanders is healthy, i have the colts going 9-7 because of the D.
3. Texans, decent nothing more, cushing is not good and not worth the pick. Slaton is a one year wonder say no more.
Finally, Jags, we got offense, deffense and a good return game, LBs are great and the corners are not going to give up plays. Considine was a good pick and will not make any mistakes but will not play lights out.
Offense, set.
X factor- the D line better step up and do two things, get sacks and stop the run
2009 record- 10-6 in the wildcard.
