Another Big OL Commitment

7

Lost in the excitement of rivalry game week, another OL commits to Charlie Strong's Cards. Aaron Epps, the 6'6" 238 lbs (or 6'7" 245lbs, depending on where you look) lineman from Tucker, GA was solely focused on being a basketball player, but is now focusing on the pigskin. According to an interview with Howie Lindsay on WKRD, Epps had offers from UofL and UCF, but since he is "just arriving" on the football scene, Strong's staff will have to fight off bigger programs vying for the lineman's abilities.

The US NEWS best colleges of 2011 came out, and Louisville is now a Tier 1 school (previously Tier 3), ranked 176 with a score of 25.

Strong didn't offer specific goals for the 2010 season and said he didn't know how long it would take to get Louisville back to its winning tradition. But he said he told the seniors that "we owe it to you to get you to a bowl game this year."

Louisville has sizable issues on defense

Cardinal Tailgate and Oregon Wine Country

RemoteCardinal: Why not make your kid's birthday a 4 day excursion? Enjoy breathtaking scenery, fabulous food, and exciting Cardinal football with fellow UofL alumni and fans on a 4-night adventure to Oregon as the Cardinals take on the Beavers of Oregon State. Limited spaces remain for this great travel opportunity accompanied by UofL president Dr. James Ramsey. Roundtrip airfare from Louisville brings you to the 5-star Salishan Spa & Golf Resort on the Pacific Ocean. Tour a local winery with dinner, share the fun at the UofL Tailgate party prior to the game, and then cheer the Cardinals on to victory. "Heath's maturation process is partly from becoming a senior and partly from a healthy fear of Strong's wrath."

The healthy fear of Strong's wrath makes me bring it each and every day too. Love this article about Brandon Heath.

Big Mack commits to Louisville

A record 39 players earned over a 3.0 gpa last semester. Guys worked very hard in the classroom

Charlie Strong's tweet I thought it was depressing that less than 10 football players were on Denny Crum Court last time when the student-athlete's were recognized for their classroom work. It's great to see that number in the 30's, let alone a record 39 guys.

LeFors back with the Cards

+

"The 2004 Conference USA player of the year began working as an academic specialist in the Cardinals' athletic department on June 1. He'll tutor football players and other athletes, as well as helping to coordinate their schedules and monitor their academic progress. LeFors, whose parents are both deaf, will also teach sign language to interested students. " Welcome back, Stefan... welcome back.

Great news today for Louisville Bills

Brohm had a great day, improving his chances to be the starting QB. Eric Wood also practiced a few times with the 1st stringers.

Did Someone Say Hedges? Yes, Papa John's Cardinal Stadium now has hedges in the north side of the stadium. I love seeing these updates up close, and esp. the recruits on the field with Coach Strong checking out the expansion. Check out the article here, which includes photos and a video. For aerial views, check out the stadium's expansion timeline gallery, which includes 327 photos up to June 4th. Click on the back arrow in the gallery to view the most recent photos.

Eric Wood nearing return

+

Sadly, I don't mean a return to UofL, however, the big man is close to returning to practice with the Buffalo Bills. Eric could return as early as the end of next week well before training camp, which starts on July 29th.

Asked if he is concerned that Siva would pick up any bad habits playing in a different system, Pitino joked, "Well, there are a couple of UK guys on the team, so I am concerned about that."

The next Art Carmody?

Probably not, but at least we've landed the top in-state kicker in the 2011 class. Check out his punt hang times and 60+ range on FGs. "Wall-ace.... Wall-ace... Wall-ace..." makes me want to paint my face with blue patterns in 2011. Nice article by Mr. Springer too. Thanks, Charlie.

"Winners don't use drugs troll on other teams' blogs." Let's not turn this quality Cardinals sports blog site into the Courier Journal. Don't feed their lack of class by replying to their comments. They might seem cute, cuddly, and harmless, but you feed them once and the outcome only ends with you feeling like your head's ripped off and left to rot in a post-Thunder port-a-pot.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

5

So the hype has been incredible, and I love seeing all the pictures from spring practice, but it looks like I may not make it to the Spring Game tonight because of thunderstorms starting at 5pm and lasting until midnight. If you don't already feel my anguish, realize that I would rather it rain tomorrow during Thunder if I could have the weather be clear tonight. I feel like missing this game in person is punching Charlie Rene Strong in the gut, and I don't want to let down Mr. Pain Train. Is it televised anywhere?

4/13/2010 PJCS update

16

Finally! Some pictures from the upper deck and the walkway, as well as a view of the new seats, loge seating, and an empty suite. You would think they figured out that UV fading thing before now. I would like to see the old seats repainted and coated with that stuff.

31 pics of the stadium construction update as of 4/11/2010. I'm still waiting to see what the view will be like from the upper deck.

Even playing hard on special teams now?

Here is the report from the Cards' 9th spring practice. It sounds like Philpott is kicking it much better than the past couple years. I like what I hear about our running game and the OL being complimented by Coach Strong so far. Get at it, guys! and Go Cards!

PJCS construction updates

Why didn't I find these sooner? I bought my season tickets in the new expansion section already... they're really filling up, so I wouldn't wait long if you want decent seats up there.

Charlie Strong: Rock Star

"New U of L recruiting coordinator Clint Hurtt praised Strong, saying he was blown away by the impact the coach has on people. "Charlie commands so much respect from people," said Hurtt. "He might be the only guy in coaching who I've never heard anyone say a bad word about. The guy is such a rock star."

Interesting article... talks about how while the Big East will never be the "Beast" of college football, it may be better than ever since the conference's re-alignment.
