I know I shouldn't troll, but hey.
Poster ukdog had this to say about Kentucky's effort [sic'd]:
"Proud of the team. Grreat last play plan. What a shot by Knight and call by Cal."
That's right--he's talking about the final 3 by Knight. Made my night.
UConn-Duke 04
I don't know how I haven't seen this particular clip, but the last 4 minutes of this game were amazing--UConn was surgical on both D and O.
The rundown, starting when the score is 75-67:
1) Deng takes a horrible shot, Taliek pushes, Rashad transition 3. 75-70
2) Dan Ewing horrible shot, Madison Square Gordon pushes it and gets fouled, makes both. 75-72
3) Duhon gets stripped on the way to the basket, Okafor makes a baby hook on the other end like 15 seconds into the shot clock. 75-74
4) Deng takes a horrible shot, Okafor scores because he and Boone want the ball more than Duke (I think we all remember this one). 76-75
5) Reddick stripped on a drive where he was obviously only looking for a foul rather than an actual basketball play. Rashad 2 FTs after he recovers the stripped ball. 77-74
6) Reddick gets tight on a decent look from 3, shot is way short. Okafor 1/2 FTs, 78-74.
Duhon banks home a meaningless three at the end.
Even if everyone remembers all this, it was amazing to look back at it. I remember at the time being like, "Wait, how did we close that gap so quickly and easily?!" Watching those last 3 minutes now, I see that it's because UConn played their best, playing efficient O, making FTs, and forcing a suddenly tentative Duke team to play horribly. Amazing sequence--it might be the most impressive sequence in UConn history considering the stakes.
Calbertus Magnus on Mike and Mike
Classic Calbertus Magnus interview, WITH A TWIST:
Classic Calbertus Magnus:
-Mike and Mike only ask 3 questions in a 10 minute interview
-Mike and Mike wait awkwardly between questions because they can't be sure Cal's done speaking
-Calbertus Magnus brings up "psychic energy"; nature of that concept remains unclear
-Calbertus Magnus says "quite frankly" and "quite simply" a lot, often before points that are neither particularly simple or frank
-Talks about specific players on previous teams, even ones mainstream media people surely don't remember (Taliek, e.g.)
Calbertus Magnus with a twist:
-Cal makes two mistakes when rambling about former players; this has never happened before (he says Rudy was on the 04 team (huh?!) and that AJ is currently on the Celtics).
