Why we need Gomes

The debate about whether or not to keep Gomes is a great debate. Some are for, while other against, as you can tell from the title i am a supporter of us keeping Gomes. While he is not the greatest hitter, or the greatest fielder, he is a valuable piece in our organization. He is a club house motivator, occasionally he can step up and be clutch ( not Gabe Gross clutch how ever). But most importantly of all, he is the only player on our team who can potentially get hurt (by laying out scrubs such as coco crisp and Shelly Duncan) and his injury not be detrimental to the team. From that last sentence it sounds like i am making fun of Gomes but its true and i think his "other job" is truly valuable for the team, hockey teams all have a giant defense men who lays people put when a message must be sent, so why cant baseball do it. Jonny is a fan favorite (when he takes BP the crowd goes wild when he steps into the cage), he can get the clutch hit occasionally, and he is a good member of the "platoon" when facing lefties.

So i believe that Jonny must be kept here in Tampa, because of his importance to the platoon(because Hinske can hit lefties so we need Jonny in there for the occasional lefties we face) and most importantly his job as Body guard protecting our young players from the evils of the Sux and $kanks.
