"small" additions make the biggest splash
I am puzzled as to why Larry Izzo is not a falcon yet. Hes a special teams animal. He was special teams captain for the Pats for 8 years, this during a time when Adam Vinatari was there and was clutch. Hes an UFA played with the Jets last year. He wouldn't be expensive and will greatly impact all aspects of special teams; and special teams are game changers...See Saints in the super bowl. Aside from his special teams help. Hes got a bad@$$ mustache. Your Thoughts?
If the Falcons had the #1 overall pick
Its a fantasy post. haha but who do you think the Falcons would take if they had the #1 overall pick. I think we would trade the pick, but basically what I am getting at here is no limitations what is the Falcons #1 player in this years draft? Here are some possibilities... Your thoughts?
If you were Comrade for a day
Your the Boss man today. Draft all of the picks for the Falcons. Here are the rules. Take all of the Falcons picks and select who you would take; however, there is no trading. You have to deal with the picks we have now. Write it how the commisioner would say it. The way I see it, there are no immediate starters for this year in this draft. Potentialy our 1st round pick but we are rather solid this year. We are looking for starters to replace the old Mclure, Abraham and Peterson) and to add depth. I am all for trading down to add a pick or picks in the 2nd round and late rounds by the way. Heres my take..
Should the Atlanta Falcons pursue Brandon Marshall?
For the price of our 1st round draft pick, a lot of money and potential character issues, would it be worth it to persue Brandon Marshall? How would it look? Roddy White, Brandon Marshall, Tony Gonzalez, and Michael Turner all on the same offensive unit. That would elevate Matt Ryan to an entirely new level. Names like Joe Montana, Steve Young and Brett Favre would come to mind. This would make it so we would have no 1st or 2nd round draft pick this year; however, this would stack the offense to be the best offense in the NFL.
As far as the Defense goes. Peria Jerry and William Moore our 1st and 2nd round picks from last year basically didn't play much last year. We are set at DT with Jerry coming back and then theres Babs whose out there beasting it. With Dunta Robbinson coming in and the re-signing of Brian Wiliams our CBs are significantly better than last year. We are good in the back field with DeCoud and Coleman, plus Moore. DE is one of the issues. Abraham had a decline, but I believe the entire defensive unit will improve this year, based simply on the fact that we won those last 3 "meaningless" games and the way Coach Smith handled that. We have good depth at DE, but we are lacking a solid starter opposite Abraham. At MLB we are solid for years to come with a defensive captain. At OLB we have Petersons and Nicholas. Neither are terrible, but neither are solid.
So now the question is: Is Brandon Marshall worth a 1st round draft choice? I say yes. I understand a pass rushing DE is a larger need that a WR; however, with one of the top WRs added to an already top 10 caliber offense, it is not hard to say that the Atlanta falcons will have the #1 offense in the NFL. Our defense is definitely improving from last years 28th ranked defense. With or without Brandon Marshall; regardless, I firmly believe that the Atlanta Falcons will win the NFC South, and go deep into the play-offs. The Falcons have a really good chance to take it all this year! So I'll leave you with this... Just imagaine an Atlanta Falcons team with Brandon Marshall.
