What would it take to get Holliday?

The A's could always use more and better young pitching. I could see a very simple package requested like Alderson and Lewis/Winn, or a more complex package that involves several lesser pieces (Neal+Barnes+such-and-such).

Earlier in the year, I thought this type of trade would be possible, but I wasn't for it. Now that the Giants may actually be a hot hitter away from the playoffs, I could get behind it. What do you think?

Thoughts: I was really impressed with Patterson, who seems to have a real idea at the plate. Daric Barton looked both good and bad (he flailed on at least a couple pitches). Is Munson a prospect (I don't follow the A's minor leaguers that closely)? As far as pitching, Gio was meh-to-good. He exhibited great control, with most of his misses being below the zone. His velocity was hard to determine, as the stadium speed gun was broken, but I would guess he was in the upper 80s most of the time. His problem is that he is quite hittable. I left thinking that his ceiling may be that of a great reliever, but unless something really changes, probably not a plus MLB starter. Speaking of great relievers, Kilby was EXCELLENT, coming into a difficult situation and inducing a double play. He seemed to be in control the whole time he was in. Jerome Williams came in once the game was way beyond being decided, and was both wild and effective. What a frustrating pitcher!

On the flip side, I was excited to see Ka'aihue, but all he did was get a walk and hit a foul ball to our seats (I didn't have a mitt, and got out of the way fast). Metcalf seemed pretty good. Pena has power to spare, and is built like Sandoval, maybe even shorter.

(Note: some of the best pics are on page 2, where you can see, among other things, Royals' slugger Pena get brushed back before hitting a homerun, and also the weak swing he had that led to a double play later in the game)

I mostly listen on the radio, via KMFB 96.7 FM here in Mendocino County or KNBR 680 when it comes in, or listen on my iPhone, via the MLB At Bat application (thank heavens we're blessed with great announcers, unlike the Padres- Ted Lightner FTL!!). Don't have TV, but occasionally see at the gym, or in HD at my folks' house. How about you? I wonder how many of you are radio denizens like myself. Please take the poll...
