I'M, LIKE, FREAKIN OUT, MAN!!!
But seriously, this offseason has seemed like the longest of my short life (I'm 19), although subjectively it has been the shortest. There is so much about the end of last season that left me craving more, and even more in the offseason to pile onto the maddening anticipation for this upcoming regular season. Although I am a firm believer that the regular season for the most part means nothing once the playoffs roll around (see: Philadelphia Flyers, '09-'10), it still provides me with a great deal to enjoy, and therefore, a great deal to be excited about. The things I am about to present to you have surely been covered here before, but with training camp and the preseason looming I thought it would be a good exercise to summarize what this season has in store for us. I've put it in list form to make it easier to digest.

I was just forwarded this email from a professor of mine.

Good Morning Dr. ******** (edited for privacy reasons),

I work for the Philadelphia Flyers Marketing Department and we are planning to enter a self-propelled "flying machine" in the Red Bull Flugtag here in Philadelphia on September 4th. (http://www.redbullflugtagusa.com/Philadelphia2010)

Unfortunately, marketing does not lend well to designing something that will actually fly, so that is why I am contacting you.  We are wondering if you have a group of students that would be interested in designing and building a fairly simple flying device that would represent the Flyers well.  The craft would need to be completed in a relatively short amount of time as the event is just over a month away.

If you have a student or group of students that would be interested in undertaking this challenge and collaborating with the Flyers, could you please let me know.  Or, feel free to have them contact me directly.
