Black Shoe Diaries Applying for Penn State

So, I'm a high school junior who is about to be applying for colleges. I've always had a special place for PSU in my heart, and it's my number one choice if at all possible. So I'm just wondering what small tips would you suggest to me to help me get as much scholarship money as possible? Living in GA means I will have to pay the over $24,000 tuition unless I get some money, and there is no way my parents will settle for me going there. GT is nearly 5 times cheaper and will substitute for me if I can't get enough scholarship money from PSU.

I'll probably be a Mathematics major, and my current SAT scores are above those of the middle 50% (I got a 690 in Reading and a 680 in Math) and I'll probably take the ACT just to be sure that I can have as many fallback colleges as I can possibly afford.

So to summarize this post: What small things can make registering easier and how should I go about gaining scholarship money?
