Pride Of Detroit Who Cursed?

Ok now I watched the Dolphins vs Patriots game on MNF and I heard the "shit" line. When I was watching the game I swore that it was Gruden that said it. I know this really doesn't matter to us, but I was just curious to see who you guys all thought the voice sounds like. I have also watched this video a couple times and it sounds like Jaws talking at the beginning then Gruden saying shit.

i also read that Jaworski apologized about what was said so shit I'm not sure.

Pride Of Detroit Heath Evans

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82209d3a/article/exfullback-evans-brings-bruising-style-to-nfl-network-studio?module=HP11_MYNFL

In the video and article above, Evans and Lombardi are debating which division is the toughest in football. Lombardi says that NFC north is toughest and Evans says NFC south is toughest. Now before I go bashing Evans based on his opinion I am going to say he is showing a little homerism. Number one he played for the Saints in the NFC south, and number two he played at Auburn which is why he loves Cam Newton so much.

Lombardi is a pretty respected analyst that is neutral in his decision. Heath Evans is just going to be another one of those players turned analyst that doesn't last long on the job even though he did make this debate interesting to watch.  Lombardi has a football degree!!

Stafford played for Georgia in the SEC so Evans obviously is not a huge fan of him. Stafford will make Evans eat his words after Sunday and I hope that Lombardi brings this up later in the season when Stafford is top 5 in QB play this season.

The NFC north has 4 quality QBs in Rogers, Stafford, McNabb, and Cutler. The NFC south has Brees, Ryan, Freeman and Newton. I think the north has the edge here. Also the North is a lot more physical. I side with Lombardi by a long shot, even if I wasn't a Lions fan.

Pride Of Detroit Supplemental Draft?

Ok so according to this article http://www.thepigskinreport.com/2011/06/nfl-says-yes-to-supplemental-draft-will-osu-players-jump/ the five suspended OSU players can enter the supplemental draft. Now out of those suspended players there are two that we are actually in need of due to injury. LT Mike Adams who is a huge force and one of the better OTs out there, and Daniel "Boom" Herron who is a pretty solid running back.

Now since we signed Harrison and Bell I think our running backs are set. So that leaves Adams the LT who can actually learn behind Backus for a little while and be a starter when he retires. The big question is what should we be willng to give up in order to draft this guy, because I'm sure if he is on the draft list then Mayhew and Schwartz  coule b einterested. This is how the Ravens got Gaither who turned out to be pretty stout minus the injuries so it might not be a half bad idea. Let me know your thoughts on this as well as what you would give to get him.

Pride Of Detroit Brightening the Season up a bit!

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/513410-matthew-stafford-why-shaun-hill-could-still-get-the-lions-to-the-playoffs#page/1

Believe it or not there are still some people that believe that the NFC north can produce a wild card. Im pretty sure that Green Bay will take our division, but with Shaun Hill under center I believe that this can happen. When Stafford went down and we lost to the Jets I was extremely upset, because I thought there goes the season, but you have to look at how our Defense has been playing. Defense is one of the reasons we have been close in every game aside from the Vikings. This article just made me a believer again. I know it may be a long shot, but to have a little hope for something to come out of this season makes me excited for Sundays. I dont want to see how Stanton progresses or anything, i want to see this team win some more games.

Read this article it will bring back a little hope for a lot of the fans that said "same ole lions" after last game.

Pride Of Detroit Could the lions really be interested in Free Agent Harris

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/19309/al-harris-a-free-agent

We did just release Wade thank god. Harris was solid player for the packers and I think that he still has a few good years left in him. He is a very physical corner which is just what Schwartz and Cunningham are trying to implement into our defense. Harris could start along with Houston, and Smith could play nickel. This will give Berry some more time to develop and by the time Harris loses a step or two we will have a great group of seasoned corners. I think that if we scoop Harris up then we don't desperately need a corner early next year in the draft, although if Peterson or Amukamara are there then of course we would get them cause we draft BPA no matter what. Very interesting

Pride Of Detroit Stafford more than likely out for season

http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2010/11/source_detroit_lions_fear_matt.html  It seems like Stafford is more than likely going to be done for the season. I would have preferred that anyways because I really want him to come back strong when this team can get the 2-3 more players that we need to be elite.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/512328-matthew-stafford-hurt-why-he-may-be-the-next-jim-mcmahon This second article is scary to read, It is about the similarities of Stafford and Jim Mcmahon. I think If we really rest Stafford and take care of this injury then he will be able to come back strong. I definately do not want to see them rushing anything this time around. Let Stanton or Hill finish this year we should be able to win a couple more games then on to the off season where we can have a little draft and free agent talk on here.

Pride Of Detroit Kawika Mitchell

Hmm I saw on Sports center at work today that Mitchell was put on IR by the bills before the start of the season, and he was asking to be released so that he could have the rights to go to a different team. Mitchell has played some weakside linebacker for the Giants when they won the superbowl and also for the Bills. I remember watching a Bills game last year when this guy was just tearing it up. Im pretty sure that he would be better than Follett as of now. Mitchell says that he should be ready to go within the next couple weeks, which would give him time to go over the defensive formations anyway, I think that we should scoop him up to let Follett have a little more time to develop. He would be ready to play around the time that Stafford comes back and hopefully our other guys are pretty healthy still then we would be pulling off those close game victorys for sure. Let me know what you guys think

Pride Of Detroit Timmy Toone

When they announced that we took Tim Toone as Mr. Irrevalent this year I as well as many other fans said to ourselves "who the heck is that". According to Schwartz he is going to compete with Follett for most popular player. In this interview on the detroit lions website Toone compares himself to Wes Welker. He also says that the scouts at his pro day said that he ran a 4.42 40. This guy could very well be great. He will return punts and kicks for us as well as maybe play as a slot receiver occasionally in his first year, and he will only progress from there. http://www.detroitlions.com/media-center/audio/Press-Conference-Audio-RB-Jahvid-Best----42310/6d2db08e-4d73-4a19-95cc-d5f6560478d3#?id=90bb4e02-58b8-4814-9f4c-1f7d5ca53ee2 Also here are some highlights that I found on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrFeciiS_Uw

Pride Of Detroit which RB would you trade for?

Well I think that its pretty clear that the lions want to acquire a veteran RB via trade sometime in the offseason. I dont know though. I have heard that we are trying to trade for Ronnie Brown which im not to sure about because he does have a little bit of an injury history. But there are a couple others out there that we can pursue, one is Marshawn Lynch and the other is Lendale White. Also I wouldnt mind trying to get Marion Barber.Based on the history between Mayhew and the cowboys I would say that we could sucker then into something good for a proven hard-nosed runningback. Soo based on these RBs which one would you want on our team. I would put up a poll, but I would rather people just voice their opinions. Personally I would say that if there was a way that Barber would be available I think that him and Smith could make a great duo. If the cowboys feel that Jones is ready to carry the load then Barber could be available or good price.

Pride Of Detroit May sound like a broken record

but maybe Haynesworth is still a possibility. according to this article.  http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d817854e4&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true the only way I would want him is if we could possibly trade down or take Eric Berry at the 2 spot. Its gonna be exciting is all I know. I can hardly wait for next week.

Pride Of Detroit Deji Karim

The lions are one of the teams that are interested in this guy. He will be a good running back in the NFL. I want us to try to get him. I hope that Mayhew can land a 5th rounder somehow. He has all the tools that it takes to be elite at the next level. Hopefully he will be one of our sleeper picks. Imagine we can land a 5th then it would allow us to either take Blount and have a good 1-2 punch or we could take Myron Rolle in the 4th round.

Pride Of Detroit Jets Trade!

Lions trade the first pick in the third round for the jets third rounder, 4th rounder and 7th rounder. I think that this is a nice move by the lions gaining two more draft picks. I think that whoever the lions are planning on drafting will still be there plus it gives us a 4th round choice which is a big round as well. GOOD MOVE!!! I like where this is heading. What do you guys think?

Pride Of Detroit Give Mayhew a Chance!!

Polian: Martin Mayhew one of the top young GM prospects

Bill Polian, who knows a few things about constructing a winning NFL franchise, told FoxSports columnist Jason Whitlock that Martin Mayhew is one of the top up-and-coming general manager prospects.

September 25, FoxSports.com: Last week I was at the same college football game as the best general manager in professional football, Indy's Bill Polian. At halftime of the Kansas State-Louisville game, I picked Polian's brain about young GM prospects. To my great surprise he was extremely high on Mayhew, who was just promoted to assistant GM in Detroit.

Polian is convinced that Mayhew has a deep understanding of personnel and a tremendous work ethic. Mayhew was one of only four guys Polian identified as a future GM.

If you don't know, Polian built the Buffalo Bills Super Bowl teams, the Carolina Panthers team that advanced to the Super Bowl and, of course, the Indianapolis Colts squad that won it all. He knows what it takes to build a winner.

Mayhew might be worth hanging onto for a year or two.
