Training Camp Roster Print-Out
Thought you folks might like this. If you are heading to camp, you will wish you had this to know who is who. Enjoy.
Chris Johnson is my new favorite player. FIRST!
How great did the kid do in his 6 mins? Two big blocks and three rebounds. He didn't play scared. He may have earned some PT.
If You Want To Win Tonight, DO NOT Boo Brandon Roy
I don't care how you feel about the guy or his comments. The *team* doesn't need any negativity in the building. Stay strong Blazers fans!
Foundation Re-Forming
We all wake up today with our team down 0-2, and our once-star player literally crying about playing time. It's easy to focus on the negative. I think you'd be making a mistake.
A Rosy Oden Prediction
It occurred to me after watching another video of Oden practicing with Joel before the Bucks game that my angst about Oden's late start might be misplaced. In fact, it may be the best thing that's happened to him in a couple of years.

Disappointed in Barrett and Rice
Barrett and Rice are indisputable homers. I actually like that about them. Tonight, though, I thought they crossed the line when they implied early on that the Blazers were playing poorly because of Maurice Lucas' death.

Can't Get Up for 2010-11 Blazers
I have an affliction. It is something I have no explanation for, and I am wondering if anyone else is going through the same thing. The Blazers have been my team since I was 6-year-old. I was the annoying, precocious 9-year-old calling into the post-game radio show asking questions that the hosts did not know the answer to. Basketball is an addiction for me, and the Blazers are my drug. This new generation of Blazers is among the most likable teams I have ever followed. That is why I am so perplexed by why I can't seem to get interested in this season until Greg Oden returns. I like B-Roy, despite signs of a troubling new "me" attitude. I love Batum. I'm intrigued by Wesley Mathews. For some reason, though, all I want to see is Greg.

QUESTION: Are the pre-season games televised anywhere (internet or otherwise)?
QUESTION: Are the pre-season games televised anywhere (internet or otherwise)?
Max value for Rudy
With all the great content here on BE, it seems less and less likely that I'm going to post something that hasn't already been discussed, so forgive me if this has. It occurred to me the other day that one team more than any other in the NBA would have reason to value Rudy Fernandez, and it's not the Trail Blazers.
The Case For Starting Martell
Despite the fact that Rudy has been struggling lately, this is not a post meant to bash Rudy. In fact, it's far more about the Suns and Martell than it is about Rudy. The Suns basically announced last night that they know there is a matchup problem in their backcourt, Switching the impish Steve Nash onto Rudy is a crutch we need to kick out from underneath them.
Blazer-by-Blazer Stat Compare to Last Year
I took the time this morning to create a spreadsheet with most of the Blazer players that compares their performance from last year to their performance this year. I grabbed the stats from ESPN.com. Red = Worse than last year, Green = Better than last year
Carlos Boozer goes to the locker room, getting his ribs x-rayed. Just heard this from the announcers of the game on League Pass
Daydreaming About Chris Paul And A PF
I am reaching my fill of KP bad news, and am feeling a little claustrophobic about the end of our season coming up soon, so I decided to break the cardinal rule about free agent/trade posts in the 2nd half of the season. If you don't want to read, please move right along with your day.
The genesis of this post was the return of Chris Paul to a Hornets team that is cash-strapped and now has what appears to be a totally viable and cheaper point guard in Darren Collison. That got me thinking...
VULCAN: It's not just the Blazers
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but I just wanted folks to realize the problem goes much deeper than the Blazers.

Oden to return this season?!?!?
Did I miss coverage of this somewhere else? This is HUGE? Why aren't there 40 posts about this?
Rockets getting Igoudala for chump change?
Why can't the Blazers EVER get one of these uneven deals? I realize it's just a rumor, but our rumors aren't even this uneven.
The Myth of Collaboration
As always, I'm happy to discuss on this site.
Has anyone imagined what Pendergraph and Oden would do on the court together?
I can see that being an amazing rebounding pair that could be joined by three scorers. I don't think we have a better potential rebounding combo at PF and C. I like having that rebounding PF. Just something to day dream about until we get G.O. back next season. (and BTW, I'm not suggesting Jeff would start over LMA)
Players Worth A Look
On a night when the Blazers shocked anyone paying attention with a miraculous win over the Spurs, I wanted to take a moment to see if I could do a community service by creating a mega-thread about all the possible players we may look at acquiring in the hope that we can avoid 20 separate posts on individual trade ideas. It seems unlikely to succeed, but so did the Blazers tonight. I did my best to put players up there that I believe would potentially be available, and that may be of some use to the Blazers. Some of the Vets are just warm bodies. I'll add a comment with the ones that I think may be worth a second look.

"It's the worst thing in the world to have to watch these guys play," Batum said, forcing a sympathetic smile.
Ain't that the truth! Kidding!
A Little Perspective...I Hope
Back in October, I wrote about the likelihood that the Blazers would take a step back before stepping forward. We've all clearly seen them take a step back, so the questions now are:
1) When will they take a step forward?
2) Will that step forward make them an equivalent team to last season? Worse? Better?
3) Will that step come soon enough to salvage whatever you deem "success" to be this season?

Greg's Averages When He Plays 25+ Minutes
I wrote a while back about a key stat for Greg will be mean time between fouls. At the time, he was averaging a scant 4 mins 9 seconds between fouls, limiting him to a max of ~24 mins per game. Increasing the mean time between fouls by even a single minute would increase his max court time to ~30 mins. In this post, I wanted to see exactly how Greg is performing when he does manage to play more than 25 mins.
PLEA: Need video of Deng catching Rudy's pass with his face
I've got to have that video to share with friends. Anyone have it?
Outlaw's injury a chance to learn
Injuries are one of the worst parts of sports. If your starting quarterback goes out in an NFL game, your team is almost guaranteed to lose. A key member of your basketball rotation goes out and everyone's role shifts, upsetting the balance teams work so hard to achieve. In these cases, and more, my reaction is almost always a physical one. I feel it in my gut. My heart sinks. I fret over something I cannot change. But when I saw Travis Outlaw limping to the locker room, and when I heard the dreaded words, "We've got news on Travis' injury, and it's not good," I felt something between nothing and a tinge of excitement. I wanted to spend a few minutes exploring why that is.

Player-by-player 2009 performance vs. career average
We have all discussed, in exhaustive detail, the state of nearly every individual Blazer as well as various lineups and rotations. I found myself in the bliss of a five game Blazers winning streak wondering, "Is this who we are, or are we even better than this?" Then, it occurred to me, given the opposition, we may actually be worse than this. So I decided to do a little research project to see if the evidence suggested the glass is half full or half empty. I hope it sparks some discussion.
Memphis wants Thabeet to be like Greg
When's the last time a team was wishing their young big man would grow up to be like Greg? What a turnaround.
Aldridge: Chairman of the boards?
The much-maligned toughness of LaMarcus Aldridge always seems to come back to his below average rebounding total for the power forward position. Don't look now, but our little boy may be growing up.
Great Night
The Nuggets lose their second in a row while getting their butts whupped in Atlanta. The Jazz lose to the Kings at home. Misery loves company!
"(Oden) showed signs at some points in the game where he could be unstoppable if he just keeps working on his game," Spurs forward Antonio McDyess said. "He gets so deep in the post it’s like you can’t do nothing with him."
How One Minute Will Make Oden An All-Star
I want to see more of Greg Oden. He and Martell Webster have been the shining lights in an otherwise horribly disappointing beginning to this season. The number one obstacle to me seeing more of Greg is...you guessed it...fouls (no, not Nate McMillan's substitution patterns - grin). I've poured over the five games we played and charted the mean time between Greg's fouls. Yes, I'm that desperate to find some way to expend my Blazers frustration. Check out the results.
