a question for all the people heaping praise on the oline....
Do you still feel the same after seeing the line do everything in its power to lose this game? i genuinely thought Backus lost it, not after the false start penalty, not after the SECOND in a row, but when he then gave up the sack to pin them right back against the end zone. THANK GOD for donahues big leg and an idiotic penalty to take them out of long FG range. And thank God that they vikings have become the 09 lions.
Chris Carter is an idiot.
Calvin Johnson is apparently not a top receiver. says Carter:
Calvin Johnson, right now you don’t have to double team him to take him out of the game,
“I can’t put you in the top five if you’re not worthy,” Carter said. “His route-running isn’t worthy of the top five, his consistent playmaking week in and week out. Man, I don’t care who they put out there, they throw a ball near you, catch it, son.”
He lists Andre Johnson, Roddy White, Greg Jennings, Desean Jackson, and Larry Fitzgerald in his top 5.
now, andre and roddy, i get. jennings and calvin get similar production, the difference being jennings has had more weapons around him and therefore, better opportunities. Fitzgerald, last year put up similar numbers in a similar situation, but scored half the TDs that calvin did. Desean i dont get, at all. YPC is great, but hes fairly one dimentional, IMHO.
but heres the things that really bothers me, he calls him out for not catching the ball when its thrown to him, but his 2010 reception % is 56.
deseans - 48%
Fitz - 52%
the other guys are up around 60%
Dear Mr. Carter,
what you've just said ... is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
sincerely,
Haywood Jablowme
Serious Question
i havent seen too much conversation about Kevin Smiths future with this team or about his future as a runner. I'm surprised, seeing as it's one of the biggest question marks of the season. i think he is going to be a good complement to Jahvid Best, but never will be the feature back. his ACL injury is concerning, but he is an intriguing player, to say the least. What do you think?
