I like it - give Mendy the ball

Golic this morning picked the Steelers to go to the Superbowl this year, losing to Dallas.
Greeny has Jax losing to Minni.
I'm with Golic, schedule notwithstanding, but I'd like us in the sb against Dallas. Hey, if we make it there we will have EARNED IT! Plus, we have a lot of players with SB experience, Cowpokes have what one playoff win in 12 years now?
Season kicks off manana, can-not-wait. Best time of the year next to playoffs.
Go Steelers!!!!!!!

"Holmes is ESPN.com's pick as the breakout player in the AFC North for the 2008 season."
Steelers' Holmes aims for his first 1,000-yard season
How sweet it would be to see Ben and Santonio hooking up for 1200 + yards this year, and for years to come.
"I want to be the guy that's going to make every catch and finish every play -- whether that's being the short passes or stretching the field on the deep balls." - Santonio Holmes
You gotta love it.
Go Santonio, Go Steelers!!!
4.24 in the 40-yard dash
Taylor always had the physical skills. He ran a 4.24 in the 40-yard dash this summer while training at Walt Disney's Wide World of Sports - a time that would make him the fastest player on the Steelers, not to mention one of the fastest in the NFL.
To put Taylor's performance in perspective, Tennessee rookie Chris Johnson clocked a 4.24 at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, the fastest time in combine history.
Now-retired Deion Sanders ran a 4.27 at the combine. Woodson was right behind Sanders at 4.28.
Wow, I knew Taylor was talented, but....Wow.
And apparently he did it with zero warmup. Steelers' Taylor eyes Hawaii
Mendenhall to be featured on Hey Rookie, Welcome to the NFL

"It’s time to gear up and rock and roll."
We are excited about this year. We have a good team. We’re excited about where we are going and about this team. - Brett Keisel
We are working extremely hard to make everyone proud and to pursue a championship for the Steelers nation. I thank everyone for their excitement and hope we keep everyone on the edge of our seats. We look forward to a great season in 08. - Coach Tomlin

HERE'S TO A GREAT 2008 SEASON, GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!
I feel real comfortable
FWP:
Last yeat was last year. I'm getting better in different aspects of the game. Now, I feel real comfortable sitting back there (blocking) and taking a man head-on.
"I feel real comfortable running the ball; trying to run through (somebody) to pick up more yards. I feel more comfortable with everything."
Wow, Willie Parker "more comfortable with everything". Should be something to behold with Mendenhall joining the backfield.
Can't wait for tonights game as it can mean only one thing: our next game is Game 1 of the 2008 regular season. Yeaahhhh baby, bring it on!!!!!!!!
Here's to a healthy game tonight. Enjoy everybody!

ProFootballWeekly.com is reporting the following:
The Steelers’ search for a starting center is over, the way we hear it. Sources sayJustin Hartwig appears to be the winner of a position battle with Sean Mahan and will top the depth chart in Week One of the regular season. Hartwig, who was released by the Panthers after last season, looks like a stronger, bigger option with a better base. Word is he has a sound understanding of the playbook and has gained the faith of OL coach Larry Zierlein. Center was the only position on the O-line in which there was a battle for a starting role, so Pittsburgh finally can move forward with full knowledge of its front five in the remaining weeks before the season opener. While Mahan is relegated to backup duty for now, it might not be for long. Hartwig battled injuries throughout his two-year stint in Carolina, appearing in just 17 games.

Mini-so-tah
Looks like we might get a good test/look at just how stout our run defense will be early in the 3rd preseason game Saturday with Peterson running the ball:
<<The Minneapolis-St. Paul Pioneer Press
The starting quarterback has a sprained knee ligament, the new No. 1 receiver is battling a case of turf toe and another starting receiver sat out Tuesday's practice because of a stomach virus.>>
How do you see the D performing Saturday? The line? The backers?
Here we go Steelers!
Troy
Word is Troy is back practicing with the team today, I know he's been itching to play.
Do you remember a couple years back when the Indy defense was VERY weak until Bob Sanders returned toward the end of the season? And suddenly, with Sanders on the field, the Indy defense became EXTREMELY stout?
Well if Troy is back and in fact healthy, and remains healthy, is Troy Polamalu = to Bob Sanders? What do you think?
Here we go!
