Deal with a max value of 3.1 mil. Parker told there will be an open competition for the starting RB.
I'm not a fan personally, but it's vintage Shanahan stocking up on running backs.

Not good news. Zorn is clearly getting fed up with Thomas' lackadaisical attitude.

Interesting that NO is willing to take on Songaila's salary after they tried to get rid of Chandler for expirings last year.

Bullets Forever Caron Butler for Amar'e Stoudemire

I love Caron Butler but the way this team is built now, we have little to no front court depth. Those who believe we have a shot at a championship or even the ECF are somewhat delusional. In history and especially throughout this decade, no team has won a championship without a dominant big-man except for the Pistons who overachieved. Caron Butler does a lot of great things for this team but right now our backup PF/Cers are dray and Javale McGee. This won't cut it, especially in the playoffs and should either Antawn or Brendan go down we'd be in a world of trouble.

My proposal is to trade Caron Butler, Mike James, and Nick Young for Amar'e Stoudemire. This is the most talent they can get for Amar'e and maybe we'd be overpaying a little. We could possibly switch NY out for Cirttenton but I'm not sure if they would go for it. Anyway, our lineup would be the following:

PG: Arenas/Crittenton/Foye

SG: Foye/Miller/Mcguire

SF: Miller/Mcguire

PF: Stoudemire/AJ/Blatche or Javale depending on progress

C: Haywood/Stoudemire/Blatche or Javale depending on progress

This would clear up the logjam we have in the backcourt with Mike Miller getting the majority of SF minutes and sharing them with Dominic Mcguire. Antawn Jamison would come off the bench as a sixth man and Stoudemire could log minutes at the PF and Center position. Jamison could even play a little SF with Caron at the 2 to get all our best players on the court. I'm not sure if this lineup is championship calibur and maybe more moves would be needed, but I think it has some potential. We could always sign someone like Zaza or Drew Gooden for the MLE and I'd be happy.

"Gilbert Arenas is the worst person on earth," Tony Kornheiser said on today's episode of the On the DL podcast. "He's a coach killer and a team killer. He's a team killer, Gilbert Arenas. He got Eddie Jordan fired. He didn't play."

DC Sports Bog. Kornheiser is a punk. Are you kidding me with this?

Pretty cool Chris Cooley Interview. My favorite part? Glad you asked. This ones for you cincyboy:

SI.com: It was just announced that the Bengals are going to be featured on Hard Knocks. Thoughts?

Cooley: Seriously? Well, they're usually the highest crime-rate team in the NFL, so they'll have plenty of characters to choose from and they could have plenty of drama.

Interesting. I guess Zorn wasn't lying when he said he wanted 4 QBs at training camp.

I guess that settles it. I'm going to be so mad if we get the #3 pick.

I was reading the Chad Ford chat today and was surprised when I saw this regarding John Wall:
"SportsNation Chad Ford: He was awesome and he'll compete with Ed Davis and a few other freshmen for that. However, there is some buzz that Wall believes he might be eligible for THIS year's draft. I've been doing some digging and will be filing a story later today. The short rub is this: Wall is a 5th year senior and depending on how you read the collective bargaining agreement, 5th year seniors are eligible for the draft as long as the turn 19 in the calander year (Wall does). The league is taking a wait and see approach. If he declares, they'll research and make a ruling. If he does declare and is ruled eligible (two big ifs) he's a Top 5 pick in this draft. Maybe Top 3."
We're picking top 4 this year and assuming we don't get Blake Griffin or Rubio, this will have a huge impact on whether we trade down or not. I watched John Wall at the Nike Hoop Summit and he was unbelievable. Your thoughts?

"One NBA executive on the East Coast commented to me Monday that he believes Griffin is an even better prospect than Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley were last year. That's pretty good news for what otherwise looks like a weak draft."

I thought that was really interesting.

Are we still trading down if we get the #2 pick instead of the #1 pick?

Hogs Haven CUTLER!!!!

Just kidding. He's asked for a trade and I have to nab this one in the butt before someone else posts it. Jason Campbell is the man. Cutler is overrated and he's not the next Brett Favre. All he does is whine a lot. Well, I guess he is kind of like Brett Favre, my bad.

Redskins rule. I'm horny for Zorny. Caps are also good. Wizards, not so much. Same for the Nats. Maybe next year? Three championships for Washington! Then we'd be just like New England. Unfortunately, I hate New England so I hope we go 0-16. Not really,  but you know how it is.

Rock Lobster.

Interesting stuff eh? I personally don't like being kept in the dark, but I can understand why they did it for Gilbert. The dude really does have a lot of pressure on him.

The punting issue needs to be addressed in the off season. Does this mean we're going to give Durant Brooks another shot?

"The Oakland Raiders paid DeAngelo Hall $8 million for only eight games in 2008. The Washington Redskins, however, are ready to throw even more money at the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback in an effort to keep him off the unrestricted market." How much money? Yikes.

Hogs Haven Plaxico Burress

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3900946

Burress is being reportedly being shopped. I've heard a lot of you lookifng for Anquan Boldin. Should New York allow Burress to go would you all be interested? I know New York isn't likely to trade within the NFC East but that might diminish his value since two teams (Redskins/Eagles) in the division are in need of a legit #1 WR. Moss and Plaxico would be the perfect compliment to each other. So what are your thoughts?

Sounds like something Gilbert would be good at. I wish he were still around.

Skins trading Carlos Rodgers?

The Skins' personnel meetings are beginning this week and by early next month the plan will start to become clear. I tend to think they sign one pricey free agent (though not a Gross or Haynesworth - not that massive) and a few value guys (LB, DT, G), then try to draft a starting tackle and trade Carlos Rogers for a second-round pick to use on a defensive tackle or defensive end. -- Washington Post

Hogs Haven The Redskins are in a sorry state...

as is this blog. Maybe it's not my place to say anything, but the lack of activity on hogshaven is dissapointing. I understand that people have busy lives but I can't understand how a team blog with one of the biggest fan bases in the NFL has less participation than the soon to be 0-16 Detroit Lions. I don't mean to take a shot at anyone (Skinpatrol, texskin, etc) but I just thought it was necessary to say something.
