Do you know how to pronounce Buckel?  Then you didn't hear Parks at Newberg Night:

"byoo KEL"

Other things I learned:

Thad's pet peeve with player agents is "when they open their mouths."
JD used the word "Judy" for Leonys, saying he's not one though, he'll have some power.  I've never heard the term in that formal a setting.
LuJac is, like all Rangers MiLB pitchers, on a personalized program, especially to repeat his delivery.
The team's chemistry doesn't come from one player, it's a fabric.  Although Elvis likes to dance in the middle of the clubhouse.
JD alluded to efforting on a Haren trade last year, and made it sound like Anaheim didn't communicate responsibly.

Parks and Goldstein were great too, a good mix of info and humor.  Parks said of one player, "he's a beautiful man" but I'm blanking on whom.  They talked about pitchability guys vs. stuff guys.  They talked about how any player is available, it just requires a certain amount of talent.  But Goldstein definitively shot down the idea of a Kershaw trade, and he understands the appeal, even to both teams.  The Dodgers are a ward of the league, and the team's value has to be preserved for its next owner.

Lastly, be grateful for your advantages and the lack of calamitous disease in your life...very grateful.

Anyway, just a few thoughts.  Anyone else who was there should post remembrances too.  Didn't really see a recap anywhere on LSB.

Disturbing read about legal education.

# A web site in the Dominican Republic reports Adrian Beltre has agreed with the Rangers on a 6-year, $96 million deal. No confirmation yet.

# Source: DR report is untrue. Rangers have no agreement with Beltre. Editor's note: DR reports can be exceptionally gossipy and unreliable.

Not much Rangers at all, but a wonderful read about the improbabilities of the ML postseason.

First I've seen it that JD wanted Holland to be the centerpiece of the Lee trade before acquiescing to trade Smoak.

Also encouraging news about re-signing JD and Cliff both.

I don't take Jeff Passan lightly.

And here's his story on Ham.

(This isn't a quote, I just couldn't find an appropriate Fanshot medium.)

Question: What is the best name you can think of for a band?

One timely idea - a variation on Cliff.

Black Cliffs? Or singular: Black Cliff?

Cliffdiver?

Did you grow up around any interesting geography?

Other ideas?

From Jamey's last report...

Fox Sports Southwest produced a really good feature called "Spotlight: The Rangers’ Minor League Gold Mine." I can’t recommend it enough. Dana Larson interviews Jon Daniels, A.J. Preller, Josh Boyd, Don Welke, and others in the Rangers’ scouting and player development departments, and it’s as good a look into the inner workings of one of the real key aspects of the organization as I’ve seen. The 30-minute special re-airs on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., Monday at 10:00 p.m., and Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Set your DVR’s now.

Hope I'm not teasing anyone with the fanshot title...just wondering if video is available online? I would love to see this, don't have access.

Pretty good read.

Milton Bradley was an excellent high school student. He's got that on me.

My friend from high school made a movie. The trailer is actually...very impressive.

Utterly hilarious. The guy is never so great as when he's disgusted with an NBA team(s).

Golden State Warriors (group A)
2009-10 payroll: $65.9 million
Projected 2010-11 payroll: $52.1 million

• VP's Take: No plan, no identity and no idea what they're doing. All bets are off. They might be dumb enough to use Anthony Randolph (a top-10 talent among the under-25 guys, even if he's a little nuts) or Andris Biedrins to get someone to bite on Corey Maggette's contract ($40 million remaining through 2013). Let's hope not. They should be building around Randolph, Biedrins, Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry and giving them the lion's share of minutes. Of course, if the Warriors trade Anthony Randolph he'll blossom into a star.

• Mitigating Factor: It wouldn't shock me if they dealt Randolph, Biedrins, Ellis and Curry in the same trade. It also wouldn't shock me if Don Nelson coached a game naked from the waist down, or if their devoted fans organized the first-ever boycott of a professional sports team that actually worked. Can an entire franchise get Tyson Zone status?

(Random note: One of my favorite movies growing up was called "Inside Moves." It's about a lovable bar of cripples and sad sacks in San Francisco. The bartender is a Warriors season-ticket holder who had a promising basketball career derailed by a bum knee. I won't spoil the ending for you, but it's important to note that when this movie was being made, somebody asked, "Who should be the favorite team for the gimp bartender? Wait, I got it … the Warriors!" And this was 1980. At least with the Clippers, you can blame Donald Sterling for their problems. Who do you blame for three-plus decades of Warriors dysfunction? I mean, other than God?)

• VP's Verdict: Don't trade, G-State. But if you do, here's an idea …

Fake Trade No. 2 (three-way): Tracy McGrady's EC to the Knicks; Randolph, Eddy Curry and Cuttino Mobley's EC to Houston; Gallinari to the Warriors. New York wipes Curry off the books. Houston takes a $10 million hit next year for a chance to hit superstar pay dirt with Randolph. Golden State gets something for Randolph before he inadvertently sabotages his trade value for good by crying during all five games of a road trip. And Gallinari realizes his destiny as a NellieBaller. Everyone wins.

(Well, except for the Warriors fans. They always lose. It's just the rule. I have no doubt that Anthony Randolph can only fail for Golden State, and I have no doubt that he will come back to haunt them somewhere else. Maybe they're better off just keeping him and continuing to destroy him mentally until he goes Sprewell on someone. Or as Don Nelson calls it, "Plan A.")

John (Dallas)
Borbon or Austin Jackson?

Keith Law (5:14 PM)
Borbon.

~

John (Dallas)
Is the difference in VORP between Beckham and Andrus made up for by Andrus' defense and games played? If so, does that make Andrus the ROY?

Keith Law (5:16 PM)
I'd probably lean Beckham right now, but it's close. Beckham's playing out of position and using his defensive #s penalizes him unfairly.

~

Neftali Feliz (NY)
Am I as good as I seem?

Keith Law (5:56 PM)
Yes, with a chance to be better.

~

Clayton (Dallas)
Michael Main struck out the side on Tuesday in Arizona. Welcome back, did the illness slide him out of your top 100?

Keith Law (6:12 PM)
If that's really the explanation for the lost season, then no. I slide guys like that down, but not off the list, unless the injury (or illness) is a chronic issue.

~

Ruben (CA)
Thoughts on Tommy Mendonca will he be the 3rd basemen of the future for the Rangers?

Keith Law (6:26 PM)
No, don't like the swing, doesn't make enough contact, and has horrible plate discipline. Good glove, though.
