Yahoo! Dynasty League! John's invited, and so is everyone here!
I've started a Yahoo! custom league that's intended to be a dynasty league. The current keeper limit is ten, but it's subject to change. The draft is this Sunday at 5pm Pacific, and while we have to use Yahoo! player listings, everyone who gets called up from the minors is fair game.
If you'd like to join up, the League name is Dynasty, and the password is dynasty. Please check the settings before joining, as it's a 7x7 league.
Here are some of the guidelines (I put these in the commissioner's note as well):
- This is a dynasty league, which means that it's meant to last for a long time - as long as there are active users, the league will continue.
- The draft is thirty rounds long. I suggest pre-ranking at least some of your guys so you aren't just throwing darts by the last ten rounds.
- Because this is a dynasty league, you get to keep ten of your thirty players at the end of the season. Draft with this in mind! After all, you won't just be at this for one year.
- This is a 7x7 league. If I feel like a category should be added, or should be taken away, I'll ask league members before doing so. This goes for the keeper limit as well - if a majority of managers in the league feel like we should keep more guys, I'll change it. I don't feel like going less than ten because that's only a third of your roster - and there are solid guys to be found in every round, regardless of who gets kept.
- In order to participate in this league, you have to PARTICIPATE! Don't check out if your draft didn't go as well as you planned, because this won't be the only time you draft for this team - and there's a long season ahead to improve.
- Everyone is welcome here. I don't care how old you are, whether you're a guy or a girl, etc. However, since we're going to be in this for a while, I'd appreciate it if people behaved civilly towards one another.
- If you find yourself needing to check out during the season, tell me first, and either find a replacement manager or give me time to find one myself.
- The waiver time is only one day, so stay on your toes. Also, there's no inning limit.

A.J. Burnett...Injured?
From ESPN.com:
"The Toronto Blue Jays might have lost one of their expensive new pitchers before the season even starts.
A.J. Burnett hurt his pitching arm Saturday and left Toronto's 8-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox after throwing one pitch in the second inning.
The right-hander signed a $55 million, five-year contract with the Blue Jays during the offseason after going 12-12 with a 3.44 ERA for the Florida Marlins in 2005.
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons motioned to the area above and below the inside of his right elbow when describing where Burnett's problem was.
"He went to get an MRI and check it out. It could be his forearm, and it could be his elbow. We don't know," Gibbons said. "He has had that elbow reconstructed in the past, so he knows his body."
Burnett was a key piece of Toronto's offseason overhaul. The Blue Jays also added closer B.J. Ryan for $47 million over five years, and traded for slugger Troy Glaus and first baseman Lyle Overbay.
"When he went to his neck and said, 'I'm done,' I knew we needed to take him out of the game," Blue Jays pitching coach Bran Arnsberg said. "Hopefully, we don't have anything to worry about, but it would be a huge loss for us -- a No. 2 starter on a major league club."
When pressed for more specifics about the injury, all Arnsberg would say is, "I'm not at liberty to speak about that. That's what I have been instructed and that's what I am going with."
Gibbons called it a big blow to the team if the injury is serious.
'It would be big if it's something serious. We are hoping it's not," Gibbons said. "Even if it's not something serious, it's going to set him back a little bit anyways. We're pulling for the kid, but if it's something serious we have got to make adjustments like we did last year. But it would definitely be a big blow.'"
What does this mean for the Jays? Will a young arm break camp with the big club that wasn't expected to before? Should they? Who should make the rotation if Burnett is out for a while? And does this news open up Ricciardi to more criticism?

Keeper League Trade - Should I take it?
OK, I'm in a 14-team keeper league that's reasonably competitive. This is our second year in operation, and we got to keep seven guys from last year - which means that our draft's first seven rounds are already done. Also important to consider: We use OBP instead of AVG.
I traded Mark Loretta and Kevin Mench for Jason Bay at the break last year, and traded Bill Hall for Grady Sizemore earlier. These guys were going to be two of my seven keepers.
I've gotten an offer from one owner in my league of a second-rounder (probably the 23rd pick), Vlad Guerrero, and Johnny Damon for Bay, Sizemore, and Juan Pierre. I'm not necessarily planning on keeping Pierre because I have 15 keeper candidates and his OBP left a LOT to be desired last year, but Sizemore and Bay are a big part of my plans.
On the one hand, it's Vlad Guerrero, and Damon could experience a boost in numbers with the short porch in his new stadium's right field. On the other hand, Damon's not going to hit as many HRs as Sizemore or steal as many bases, and this is a keeper league - Vlad's getting a little older, and he's had injury troubles recently.
I'm leaning towards rejecting the deal. I have the 12th and 17th picks, then don't pick again until the 40th pick, so the 23rd pick would be useful...but Sizemore and Bay are going to be really valuable if they play at the same level as their second halves last year.
Any advice? Is there any compelling reason I should take the deal?
The other thing is that I have a bunch of keeper prospects, and while I think I've chosen which seven to keep, I'd appreciate advice. Here's who I have to choose from:
Jason Bay
Jeremy Bonderman
Matt Cain
Carlos Delgado
Felix Hernandez
Bobby Jenks
Paul Konerko
Francisco Liriano
Bengie Molina
Juan Pierre
Johan Santana
Grady Sizemore
Rickie Weeks
David Wright
Michael Young
Thanks in advance! EDIT: Here are some stat comparisons via Baseball Reference. Sizemore and Bay are the first group, Vlad and Damon are the second.
