Its about time the Big Televen go to twelve teams. Should Notre Dame not answer the phone (again) Louisville would be a good candidate from a geographical standpoint but bad for the Big East and Kentucky football recruiting. Hopefully, if they go forward it would just look at candidates north of the Mason-Dixon line.

<strike>This is it. The hated Vols trespass on Commonwealth turf in an effort to extend our frustration against them. Enough is enough. Past games count nothing toward tonite's game and the battle whould be epic. Add Kentucky's home field advantage to the stats and the two teams come out close to even. Brooks has shown the ability to get the Cats pumped at crucial times and this is about as crucial as it gets. Second place in the SEC, break the streak, quality bowl, revenge, expectations - all factors pointing to what could prove to be a game for the ages.</strike>

<strike>Forget the breakdown of offense, defense, special teams and coaches - lets PLAY BALL. My prediction is Kentucky 24, Tennessee - 10. I see a highly charged game being played with too much emotion, turnovers and defense rule the day. Really do we care how the game is played? Just win it. Plunk down your guess for braggin' rights and no one is allowed to submit a guess with Tennessee coming out on top.</strike>

Pffffft!

via i48.photobucket.com

We're most likely bowl bound and now playing for prestige with two games to go in the season. Today we line up between the hedges against a Uga-less Georgia team operating without their best receiver, A.J. Green. Cobb is questionable with a shoulder injury but is such a competitor he'll insist on playing as much as possible. The game could turn into a wrestling match of running game vs running game which points to line play. Kentucky's front line (avg 307) will try to control Owens and Weston at the line and keep the linebackers, mainly Curran and Dent, at bay. Newton will have to keep an eye out for blitzing Houston from one side and Curran from the other in passing situations. Georgia's front line (avg 305) will be trying to open the holes for the running game that recently has featured Caleb King and Washaun Ealey. The depth of Georgia in impressive - lots of receivers and running backs able to step in but they are committed to Joe Cox at quarterback.

The experts have Georgia favored by 9.5 and the under/over set at 51 points. Being the irrational fan that I am, I'll go with a close one for Kentucky at 20 - 17 to spoil Senior Day in Athens. What's your guess?

Hopefully the only bearing this will have on the game is that Georgia's season also dies with a loss to the Cats. Seriously though, the whole side of my mother's family were/are BIG Georgia fans and Uga was/is a big deal to them. I had the pleasure of playing with one of the Ugas growing up when visiting - what a slobber factory.
Cats 1, Dogs - 0. (I prefer dogs to cats, but not as mascots.)

This week its Tarot Card predictions

via www.tarotscard.com

Last week we tried looking in our Crystal Balls and that prove fruitless for me (and really uncomfortable). This week we're using Tarot Cards to divine the winning score for this weekend's pigskin lovefest with Vanderbilt a few blocks from the fondly and foggily remembered Printer's Alley.

As the season wears on it should be easier and easier to gauge teams based on their past performance just like thoroughbreds. It just doesn't work that way, neither team is a thoroughbred. Regardless, I've got a horse in this race and I'm going to pick them to win - not just because it's my horse but because it's the better horse.

Which Vandy team will show up - the one that played inspired against Florida last week or the one that lost to Army (!?!?). I really haven't watched Vandy this year except for last week's game and know less about them than any team in the SEC. They have a highly respected coach; in fact, Bobby Johnson shares the distinction with Papa Brooks of being the most liked coaches among their peers - well, duh; and I really like to play one on one against my ten year old. But I digress. Outside of Coach Johnson not much press has been put out on Vandy's pluses. Scanning through their stats is incredible. Out of about 60 entries on the stat sheet Vandy has the higher number in ten (10) and some are beauts - First Downs Passing, of course, they're always playing from behind; Yards Lost Rushing, oops; Average Yards Per Rush, now that is worrisome; Passing Attempts, see first item; Kick Off Return/Yardage, another bad stat to "lead" in; Kick Return Average, experience helps; Fumbles, ouch; Penalties, ouch again; Punts, no mas! no mas!; and Sacks, oy vey!

Now if Kentucky brings their heart from the Auburn game and stoke the fire in their belly with the disappointment from the MSU game, they can finally beat a team they way should have beat Louisville, like a rented mule. Newton continues to improve, Matthews learns to play harder and with passion, the O-Line continues its' greatness, Lindley returns with a bang, Cobb cures cancer and saves the rain forest and Hartline mops up with a score in the 4th.

Final score: Kentucky 38, Vandy 10 and we're bowling.

Now take your shot.

(Please note: Last week's winner was Tru; however, he retains no bragging rights since he didn't even get to watch the game while blowing his retirement money at Churchill.)

How do we guess the outcome on this one? Will Kentucky take out their frustrations on the Colonels or will Kentucky work on passing the ball, making in-game adjustments, giving starters some rest, learning to tackle better and learning to cover? Hopefully the latter. The coaches have a great opportunity to perfect their game and I'd hate to see it go to waste. Steve Brown should get the defense to absolutely shut down EKU for the whole game by continually tweaking the defense, not just at halftime. Offensively, let Newton and Cobb throw the ball - a lot. We need to see confidence building improvement in all aspects of the game to carry us into three critical bowl determining SEC contests to finish the season.

If we can: contain their quick quarterback (watch the counters!), not throw in Jeremy Caldwell's direction, don't take EKU too lightly I still see a pretty low scoring contest - Kentucky 27, EKU 13. Prove me wrong and score 50 Cats.

Log in your guestimate and how you predict the game action then we'll see who gets this weeks bragging rights. The winner will be closest and when it's too close to call between entries we'll look at the "game action" summary. The decision will be as accurate as any SEC official. (Due to the horrible loss last week, there were no bragging rights this past week.)

Last week the bragging rights went to ALLBLUCAT although others were right there with him. Figuring an exact winner is tough when no one gets the score perfect so he won the multiheaded coin toss. In any case, lets try again with the Missssssissssssippppppi State Bulldogs coming to Commonwealth.

MSU brings a top SEC rusher (Dixon) into our home along with some young talent brought in by first year coach Dan Mullen. The weather is forecast to be raining all day saturday with it diminishing towards gametime and the temperature around 50 at kickoff.

My guessimate: Ky - 34, MSU - 17. A surprisingly high scoring affair when Kentucky figures out it's quarterback rotation and the defensive secondary feasts on MSU miscues. Add to that <strike>Superman</strike> Cobb turning in another multi-headed offensive performance. My hopes are based on: two games experience with the Barnum & Bailey quarterback show; game film from the ULM game showing the defensive secondary what NOT to do; great player participation numbers from the ULM game raising the team confidence; UK's holding Dixon to 48 yards last year; and my irrational enthusiasm. Our major test will be coping w/o Micah and continuing to cover for the ailing Lindley.

Now each of you can add your more sensible predictions for this weeks bragging rights.

It always interesting to see how close we can predict game scores. Here you can put your prediction for the game and we'll see who is the best (luckiest?) prognosticator. Just put down your forecast and maybe a few words to back it up. Since there's absolutely nothing to win all you'll get is bragging rights, but that's not so bad.

I'll go first: Kentucky 17 ULM 14 - The Cats will get the passing game going a little bit; and it a good thing because ULM will give us trouble in the running game. ULMs point will be 1 TD earned and 1 TD on a fluke

Your turn:
