I’m a hockey girl with a passion for NHL, fantasy hockey and college hockey. There’s a hockey magazine packed away in my purse to read at every spare moment waiting for a good hockey conversation. If it gets heated, I’ll unleash my inner Zdeno Chara in your direction- so don’t cross my blue line! Being raised in Michigan, I was raised with snow, ice and hockey. When professional NHL players are put on the ice with power, speed and skill they bump into each other, they hook, they high stick, they board. That’s good stuff. Some people may seek meditation or a cocktail to relieve stress from a long day, but not me; I watch hockey.

Avs Boast 3 Top Rookies
The Avalanche have scored with three top rookies gearing up for their playoff run.
Matt Duchene had 24 points thus far with plenty more to come. The chemistry of the Avalanche blows up all low expectations of the team. He's made such an impact.
Ryan O'Reilly had 17 points this year and was a face-off wonder.
T.J.Galiardi deserves to be seen. With 15 points and good hits, he's the player to watch right now.
Good news for the Avalanche for all their rebuilding effort.
Avs Morning Skate
It's Tuesday November 24th and for breakfast I slam down a cup of coffee and head to Avs morning skate. The best breakfast ever. I was glad to see twenty-five fans in the stands. Play was lively and a lot of smiles. The Colorado Avalanche have found their chemistry on the ice.
Defenseman Kyle Quincey and superstar rookie Matt Duchene chatted amongst themselves along the boards, while Adam Foote was supervising puck drills. J-M Liles repeatedly plowed the puck toward the net, but frustration was apparent, as his shots didn't fire head on. With Liles on the IR twice this year, his spot on fantasy teams has caused frustration, me included. Wojtek Wolski seemed tired, as I observed for my fantasy line-up and his potential against the upcoming Predators. He was smiling and talking with Duchene between drills, so I hope he can hold my LW spot for Wednesday.
I was impressed with defenseman Ryan Wilson who had good shots and was extremely persistent in achieving an accurate shot. His puck handling skills were tight and skilled.
The last players on the ice were Ryan O'Reilly and Chris Stewart having a blast challenging goaltender Peter Budaj.
After the morning skate, I went to hang with the group of Avalanche fans eagerly waiting for the team to sign autographs and get pictures. As each car crept through the gate, fans swarmed politely. These Avalanche fans were very bonded in their love for their team and courteous to the players. As Budaj drove out of the gate, fans wanted to know if he would be starting against Nashville. He said he wasn't.
I had a chance to give my blog card to Paul Stastny and Ryan O'Reilly. I approached Stastny as fellow DU alumni, while I approached O'Reilly with "you're on my fantasy team." He liked that. I asked them both to check out my blog.
Shout out to Cody McLeod who got out of his truck to take pictures with everyone. We were all glad he didn't fight with ex-Av Lappy on Monday against the Flyers.
Anyone attending morning skates?
Day 2 of Avs Rookie Camp
I was crazy impressed with Ryan Stoa's speed and Matt Duchene's persistence on the puck. The two were paired on the skills drills, and they looked good. Duchene stayed after most of the players left the ice to practice with Brett Clark. Other notables I noticed: David Marshall, Justin Mercier (who scored twice in the scrimmage with the veterans), and D guy Wes O'Neil who may end up being a good call up guy as needed. Not many people were there- anyone from Mile HIgh?
RW Brandon Yip seemed to be a scrappy seeking elbow room to play the puck, but not much in scoring. Yip scrimmaged with notables Hejduk, Wolski, Svatos, and the new enforcer Koci -who was huge. Stefan Elliot should make the team; a lot of play in front of the net. Elliott, Duchene, Stoa and Galiardi scrimmaged with Tucker, Stasny and McLeod who I was following as veteran Avs.
Just a quick rundown before Day 3. I saw one other person taking notes.
