I was at the Ottawa game yesterday and I had the time of my life. Somehow my sister and I managed to get on the videoboard and it is horrifying to see yourself on that thing! I never expected that the Pens would have gone to 4 shootouts in a row and that I would witness one in person.

Even with the vomit of a 3rd period that ultimately led to the loss, I didn't leave the arena sad. You may ask why? Well it was because of what I had the pleasure of observing as the fans filed out of the arena.

Sid and Sykora are stand up people. After the game ended, Sid and Sykora were some of the last to skate off. As they did, an ice worker fell pretty hard onto the ice while trying to get one of the nets up. They could have just skated right into the locker room pissed that they just blew the game, but they are better than that. Both of them turned around to help the man up and to make sure that he was okay.

I am so thankful that I support and love a team that are as kind, generous, and humble as the Pittsburgh Penguins. I am not sure that most professional athletes would take the time to do all of the things that they do for the community and for their fans and after what I saw today they are the real deal good type of people.

In saying all of that, I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to the PENS for being fantastic athletes who give me the joy of watching them play, but more importantly for being good people that set examples for others!

Many people in my circle don't follow hockey and often ask me why I love the Penguins so much to the point that my love nears obsession. They need to look no further than this story for an answer.

The Thursday-Saturday Trend

I was looking at the Pens game schedule today and I noticed that the Pens have a love relationship with Thursdays.

I am sure I was not the first to notice this love. The only wins for the Penguins so far this month have been on Thursdays. Also, every game they played on a Thursday in November got them two points.

I also noticed that they have yet to win on a Saturday this month.

Let's hope that they break the trend of only winning on Thursdays this month when they face the Leafs tonight!

I also noticed that the last time the Pens played the Leafs it was a 4-1 W on a Saturday. Every game they play against the Leafs this season will be on a Saturday. I am all for them starting a new trend of beating the Leafs on Saturdays. Who am I kidding? I just hope that the Pens continue their old trend of dominating the Leafs at the Igloo(40-29-7)!

You may be thinking that I have too much time on my hands. You may be right!

That my friends is part of the story for the Penguins tonight. They didn't shoot! Why?? We may never know.

Anywho, I was at the game tonight and I must say it was a nice time even with the L. A win would have made it fantastic, but Tuesday is coming!

I must say, Flower is insane!! They got the point because of him.

Sid's defensive game wasn't to shabby tonight. It was nice to see him block shots.

Also, I wish people would quit whining about Gonch being out. It does suck, but they are gonna have to deal with it until March. They are NHL players, they can and they will step up!

Go Pens!!

I am sick to my stomach!! The Pens website is reporting that Gonchar will be out until March!! He is going to have surgery on the shoulder. Ugh...Let's hope no one else gets hurt! I feel really bad for the poor guy.

Gologoski will probably see a good bit of ice time...I am confident that he can handle it.

The Pens have been down the injury road before. Losing Gonch for that long sucks, but they'll overcome.

Pittsburgh Penguins' Ryan Whitney Out For Start of Season

According to the Trib, Ryan Whitney will be out until at least January. Apparently, he went through the entire 07-08 season with a bad left foot. He had surgery to repair the problem on Friday. Here is the link to the story . Hopefully, the surgery was sucessful and he will be ready to go better than ever in January. The good thing is that the Pens are solid on defense.

Fleury and the Pens have agreed to a 7 year deal worth 35 mil.

It will hopefully be official later today.

I am glad to see that this deal is in the books. With all of yesterday's drama this is a nice change!

Malone is gone.

I am going to miss Malone, but I saw this one coming and I am certain he did too. It was written all over him in the moments right after the Cup loss. He knew he skated his last game as a hometown boy in a Pens jersey.

I was at a wedding today when I got the Pens Alert on my phone telling me the news. I must say that it was a little comical that everyone was crying tears of happiness and I was teary eyed from the text.

I wish Malone all the best in the world and I am proud that he will be the one representing the City of Pittsburgh in another organization.

So, enough mushy gushy stuff. Give me some feed back - What are the chances that TB will keep him?

Hi Everyone!!

I am new to this. I have recently discoverd the PensBurgh blog and it is awesome! I am sad that the Pens season is over and that my favorite player (Malone) will most likely not be back, but I guess as the saying goes, "time heals all wounds."

Anyway, July 1st will prove to be a very interesting day! I am actually excited about it. It will be interesting to see what Shero pulls out of his bag of tricks to help keep this team on the road to the Cup!

Is it September yet?
