Gobbler Country Just a little fun about Sept 6, VT, Boise, and the number 6

What does the number six have to do with Boise State and Virginia Tech?  Maybe nothing; maybe a lot if you are superstitious.  So here is some random number 6's of note that have to do with VT or Boise just for fun.  Also a little this day in history for the 6th.

Big Cat Country Navy MWR Jags tickets go on sale Monday

Single tickets go on sale Monday August 2nd at 9 am for ll of the home games (including preseason and the Denver game) for Military personnel and base contractors.  They are selling each game ticket for $55 and do not limit how many each person can buy until they run out.  The MWR tickets tend to sell out within the first 1 to 2 weeks so I don't know how many they have but we should notice a change in the fuel gauge (depending on if these are group sales or counted as single ticket sales).   Each of the bases have a their own number of tickets, so Mayport may have more than Kingsbay submarine.  If you know anyone who works on a military installation that doesn't have season tickets and wants single game tickets let them know to contact their MWR or ITT office.

Big Cat Country Blackouts

Last year the Jaguars and Chargers faced season blackouts with the exception of a few games between the two.  Other teams such as the Rams faced several games that were blacked out as well.  The NFL offered free local viewing to some cities for the games that were blacked out in order to try to save some interest.  However last August it looked as if 12 teams were going to face season blackouts because of the recession.  The cities fans pulled together and were able to keep there teams safe for most games.  This year again it looks like there will be several teams who will face blackouts.  Tampa Bay owners are all but certain that this year their season will be blacked out.  So really my point is, why does the national media drum on us so bad.  With so many teams hurting last year from lack of ticket sales, Jax was hardly the only one to write about.  With that, Jacksonville was a very hard hit city by the recession; add in that we have such a large stadium it is no wonder we had a hard time filling it.  Now we are close to lifting the blackouts; not just for this year but for the next three.  Are there any sports writers out there that want the Jaguars to succeed and stay in this football town.  With the exception of a few eccentric Sharks fans I have never seen so many people out and about supporting the Jaguars (not since the inaugural season at least).  Sorry if I am ranting late night and little coffee but I just needed some like minded opinions.  Does anyone think the national media will ever say anything nice about the Jaguars?  Have you heard of any other teams this year that will most likely be facing season blackouts?

Bret McMurphy breaks down each big 6 school and how much they spend on their football teams. He then goes a step further and looks at their wins against schools that spend more money than them.

I would say this is a must read for all of us who love the Jaguars and hate the Colts

Gobbler Country What if the ACC was the first to move to 16 teams?

After a late night of game 6 and my normal 4am wake up for work (and don't forget my 3 month old late night feedings), I might be a little "lack of sleep induced" crazy, but hear me out.   What if the ACC was the first conference to go to 16 teams?  Now I know what you are all thinking.  The ACC leaders are too old to think forwardly and care too much about basketball to make a football powerhouse.  What if that didn't matter?  I think they can have their cake and eat it too; just follow what I am thinking.

HD states that the best we will see this year is a loss to UNC and Miami.

the best part is the Florida fans comments under it. Apparently Wayne is just a big Bulldogs fan and hates Tebow because of that. Shame we won't get 3-5 superbowls and 10 probowls out of him

Big Cat Country So I decided to do my own draft board

With a trade to the Colts down in the first round we received their second round and fifth round pick.  I concentrated one defense which is where I believe we need the most help.  The Colts trade may be unlikely, it might be more a trade with 2 round heavy New England, however this one had more of the outcome I was looking for.

Round 1 (31 pick)

Jason Pierre-Paul    DE    South Florida

DE Jason Pierre-Paul Highlights/Lowlights 2009 USF (via ProDraftParty)

I think this kid is underrated and not a bad pick even though he probably should have gone in round two.

Round 2 (63 Pick)

Kareem Jackson    CB    Alabama

I think this is a very good pick, if he had stayed for one more year at Bama he may have made himself a 1st round pick.  His college stats are not bad and he could do very well in the pros.

Round 3 (75 Pick)

Dan LeFevour    QB    Central Michigan

Senior Bowl 2010: Central Michigan QB Dan LeFevour Highlights (via CMUSports)

I love this pick since I have Le'Fevour and the only cure is more cow bell.

Round 4 (106 Pick)

Major Wright    SS    Florida

Major Wright vs. Oklahoma (via AloDraft)

I like Wright, he is a hard hitter and for the fourth round I think this is a good pick up.  My only fear is picking up another Safety from Florida, Nelson syndrome scares me.

Round 5 (137 Pick)

Roddrick Muckelroy    OLB   Texas

Roddrick Muckleroy Sack Against Rice (via TerranceSchaefer)

He had a big game against Rice last year and did well this year in the NC so not a bad 5th round pick.

Round 5 (158 Pick)

Perry Riley    ILB    LSU

I don't know how I feel about Riley, I haven't seen him play alot to be honest and couldn't find any video on him.

Round 6 (171 Pick)

Chris Scott    OG    Tennessee

I don't really like this pick, due to the fact I am a VT fan I watched him break down all night against our defensive line and I would much rather it have picked a center at this point or another secondary player.

Let me know what you think.  This draft was done on drafttek.com
