The Fridge was on ESPN News yesterday as part of their 50 State preview of College Football. Apparently he's lost close to 100 lbs. He looks really good. I honestly think this recent "I might want to coach longer than I thought" thing has a lot to do with his recent weight loss. He talks about MD football, past and present and it's a nice little video to watch if you've got 2-3 minutes. Check out the difference from the photo above and from him in the video below.

At long last, the Lance Stephenson sweepstakes is over and the talented Lincoln High School player is going to the Big East.

"They've decided. He's off to Cincinnati," said a source close to the family with direct knowledge of the decision. "It's a done deal. I am certain of this."

Zags has been wrong before - Kansas was a "done deal" several months ago. But You have to think this is probably true. I think Cincinnati was the only program willing to take a chance on Lance, so it was more of what program will chose Lance verses which program will Lance chose. Either way, I think I'd rather have Greivis back than have Lance, but it would have been nice to have both of them. But you have to wonder if Born Ready is a 1 year cancer that would have disrupted the chemistry of the Terps...

The article is a Scout Premium, but it appears Felder's offer list and stock is rising, so it would be nice if we beat out PSU and Pitt for a PA guy for once...

Johnson is only 245 pounds right now, so he'd have to bulk up a lot before playing. Not much info out there on this guy from Scouts or ESPN. We'll try to find more for you in the coming days...

Zags is reporting that TJ Clemmings is not committed to Pitt. According to PC head coach Benjie Wimberly:
"He went out there and made a hasty decision [to commit] without any input from his parents or me," Wimberly said Monday night. "He’s going to rethink it and continue the recruiting process."
Well, that's good news. The Terps better hit him hard because football really need to step up their recruiting at this point...

Well, June 15th is almost here and we still don't officially know what rising senior guard Greivis Vasquez is doing next season. Will he return to lead the Terps or will he test his luck in the NBA draft?

Personally, I think he's coming back. I don't think he would get drafted until late in the 2nd round. I think he has great size to be a point guard in the NBA, but these camps and pesudo combines he's been to the last few months have taught him that he need to learn a lot before next season. What do you think? Will Vaz be back?

Terps Still Option for Stephenson

As the last day of the spring signing period comes to a close today there is no end in site for the Stephenson Circus. It appears his decision will drag out until his pending sexual assault court case is resolved. And since the next hearing in that case isn’t until June 29th, it could be a while before we hear from Lance. All of this is being reported by Zagsblog and Adam Zagoria also noted that Arizona and Memphis appear to be the primary players for Stephenson, although we have heard Maryland's name tossed around a bit.” Interesting news there as Zags, along with a lot of people, had previously reported that the Terps were out of it for Lance. So, take it with a grain of salt (what else is new when it comes to Stephenson?) but I suppose that it is positive news that the Terps haven’t been officially dismissed, as St. Johns and Florida International have been. Read my crazy theory as to what might have happened after the jump.

I’m starting to wonder now if Gary’s visit to Lance last month was more about “you’re good to go to Maryland if this court case clears up.” Maybe and I must say this is 100% speculation on my part, Lance was told by Maryland that if he was found innocent, they’d take him with open arms. But if he was convicted, the deal was off, as the Terps didn’t want another Tyree Evens case on their hands. Lance could have heard similar things from other schools as well. That might have made him start to look at other schools (Memphis, Arizona, etc.) because he wanted to commit before this case was finalized, in case he was convicted. Or those schools said they’d still take him even if he was convicted, which is why they suddenly became an option. Now that the case might either be dismissed or there is a good chance he might be found innocent and because the Terps didn’t get Painter, there is still a scholarship waiting for Lance and thus the Terps are once again an option for him. I’d think he’d like to play at Maryland over Memphis and Arizona, considering the proximity to NYC, potential to have a great team with him, Vaz and the new kids coming in, and playing for a future hall of fame coach. Again, just my random, crazy theory. By this time tomorrow, Maryland could again be out of it and Sienna might be the new leader to land Lance…

As always, stay tuned…

Len Bias Movie

On June 19th, just over a month from now, and 23 years after his tragic death, a new film on Len Bias will be released. The film looks into that one tragic night that ended the life of one of the University of Maryland’s best basketball players. I often wonder what the Celtics would have been like had Bias not died. And I wonder if we’d be talking about Bias being the best player in NBA history. We’d have the Jordan-Bias rivalry. It’s unreal when you think about what happened and the effect it had on Maryland. There are so many things to think about. Would Gary have still ended up at UMD? Would we still have a National Championship? Would we have multiple National Championships? I’m unfortunately too young to really remember Bias' playing days at Maryland and his tragic death, but if Bias was a player today and this happened, I’m sure it would take me a long time to get over it. The trailer to the movie is below. I know where I’ll be on June 19th…

I think that is a big deal, because I had heard some chatter about him possibly not qualifying, so I'm glad we're good to go. You can read more about it here. It's a nice Friday morning read.

According to Adam Zagoria, the Terps and St. Johns are both out of it for Lance. Whether that is true or not I don't know because in my humble opinion, the guy makes up 90% of what he talks about. Someone started a rumor that Lance has eliminated St. Johns and UMD and his way of confirming that is by saying the Stephenson family hasn't disputed it.

So by that logic I can say Stephenson is going to commit to Maryland and if the family doesn't dispute it, it must be true!

I do believe he could be right and agree with his point that states that if he wanted to go to UMD or St. Johns, wouldn't he have committed by now?

I just hate the way he went about saying it. He throws in the Terps-Lance-Under Armor "violation" that wasn't a violation and then quotes Mr. Stephenson who says himself it wasn't a violation. And then he adds this crap about Stephenson thinking Gary's system is too "structured" which is a load of BS.

My source says Mr. Zags and his sources don't know anything and no one knows where this kid will end up until he actually suits up for a team.
