Kevin Arnovitz praises Ahmad Nivins - Summer League Roundup
"Ahmad Nivins looks like a pro player -- long, muscular, athletic, and coordinated. The but that usually follows this profile is ... lacks fundamentals, or doesn't have a post game. With Nivins, though, that doesn't appear to be the case. He displays good footwork, moves around the floor with purpose, and is a beast on the boards. When you ask folks here why he dropped to No. 56 in the draft, you get a lot of shrugs, followed by a soft endorsement of his skills. He's had a nice week thus far -- 14 points and 6 rebounds per game on 51.6 percent shooting from the field. The only apparent drawback is that he looks waaaay too wound up on the court, and that intensity occasionally works against him."

Oklahoma State is Tonight!!!
Hello there, Longhorns. I'm completely surprised that tonight's home game has not been mentioned today on BON. I know everyone is disappointed with our recent play and current losing streak, but this is when the Horns need us out at the Drum the most. We really have been spoiled by Barnes' teams the past few years, but losing three games in a row is not the end of the world in college bball. This team has the ability to turn it around, but an empty Erwin Center is certainly no help to their already shaky confidence. Please do what you can to make it out tonight! Unfortunately, I'm afraid there will be numerous open seats, so I've tried all day to recruit friends to attend. I was about to go it alone, but a coworker finally agreed to come along. Buy your $8 mezzanine tickets and then at least fill up the O-zone when called down. I hope to see a rabid group of BONers out there watching us dispatch this okie basketball school (or are they a wrestling school? Whatever.). Hook 'Em!!!!!!!

Houston Aeros
I'm attending my first AHL game tonight as the Houston Aeros take on the Binghamton Senators. I recently learned that the Aeros are the primary affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, but Dallas has had a temporary affiliation agreement (as with several other teams until the Texas Stars begin play). I was wondering which, if any, Stars-controlled players are currently on their roster? Is there a reason why the Aeros never became a primary affiliate of the Stars organization? I'm aware of some related history as Tippet was head coach and David Oliver played during their 1999 Turner Cup Championship season. Also, if anyone is looking for a reason to make it out to the Toyota Center tonight, it's mullet night.
