You guys are doing a great job covering bball. Please keep up all of the good work!

The way we are playing has me thinking that this could be a really special team and I am hopeful that we can make a deep run in the tourney.

We finally have a deep bench, we are playing defense, AJ is a clutch scorer, and we have valuable experience...I can't wait for March Madness. Another great year for Longhorn athletics.

Cosby, but not Shipley, named Biletnikoff Finalist

Congrats to Quan for being named a Biletnikoff Award Finalist, as one of the top 10 receivers in the country.

I realize that nobody on our team is going to win this award, but how can Jordan Shipley be left off of this list?

Shipley has more receptions, yardage, and TDs than Cosby, not to mention 2 huge return TDs.

I'm not saying Quan shouldn't be on the list, but if you are going to select one Longhorn, wouldn't you choose Shipley?

All of this poll talk is addicting. I've read about the Sargin, Harris, Coaches, AP, and BCS (plus all of the comments...great stuff). All the tiebreak analysis, while interesting, blew my freaking mind.

While I am a die hard fan, I really try to be realistic and level headed. So, with all of these different scenarios possible, I'm really curious to get the pulse of the BONers to see where we think our last game of the season will be played.

Colt and Chiles at Same Time?

This is probably nothing new but...

It's clear that we have trouble running the ball and it is entirely possible that our two best rushers are Colt McCoy and John Chiles. (Colt 7.8 ypc, Chiles 5.0 ypc).

I know we have the Q package for Chiles, and that we have worked him in at receiver some. I might be crazy, but I don't understand why we need to rotate Colt and Chiles so that we only have one of them on the field.

Why don't we get Colt and Chiles on the field more at the same time...even have them both in the same backfield occasionally?

I hate the idea of taking Colt off the field in favor of a guy who is much less experienced. However, using Chiles like the Stealers used Kordell Stewart (letting him throw, run, receive) just a handful of plays a game with Colt on the field too could be productive.

Another Longhorn on the Titans roster.

The Titans signed Chris Simms today, leaving them with an old Kerry Collins, an injured Vince Young, and new acquisition Chris Simms as their QBs.

I'm assuming Collins will start temporarily while VY is hurt and while Simms learns the playbook, however, Titans fans hope that won't last long.

Could it be possible that Chris Simms makes more stars than an injured (and possibly dejected) VY this year?

Crazier things have happened...

Observations from big win vs UCLA

Going into this game, I was worried that we could get blown out. Playing at UCLA, combined with the fact that we seem to struggle in early season games against traditional powers left me with little to no expectations. I also have been a bit worried about who, besides DJ, was going to pick up the slack after losing Durant. After watching the game tonight, I have a renewed level of excitement about this year's team.

A couple things really stuck out to me.

Damion James - Wow. He looks like a completely different player than he was last year. Last season, I cringed every time he had the ball further than 5 feet from the rack. Tonight, not only did he knock down mid-range jumpers, but he seemed more comfortable in the open court, and just more confident over all. We knew the tenacity, quickness, and rebounding would be there, but his obvious improvement is the most exciting thing I saw all night.

Conner Atchley - What a big 3 pointer! Sometimes it's easy to pick on Conner, but he is playing better than ever, and he also seems more confident (although, he could still improve in that area). With such an undersized team, it is nice to have a big man who can hit an open jumper. Also, did you see him take Kevin Love off the dribble at the start of the game and hit that nice running scoop? (the air ball sky hook was another story though...maybe it was a "tribute" to Lew Alcinder, since it was Conner's first game at Pauley Pavilion)

Justin Mason - This guy might be my favorite player on the team. The announcers were calling him the "glue" of our team and I couldn't agree more. He was good at taking a slower defender off the dribble and he just doesn't seem to make mistakes. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why he is the glue of the team, but if you watch the games, it's hard not to see how important his play is.

I know it's early, and it's just one game, but winning on the road against a team that has been to two straight Final Four's is a great early season accomplishment. Combine the big win with the fact that our role players seem to be showing big improvements over last season, and this should make for an exciting year.
