Canal Street Chronicles Saints @ StL Rams

I live in the Saint Louis area and, if everything works out right, am planning to attend the game between the Saints and the Rams on October 30th. I don't have my tickets yet but I expect to purchase my tickets sometime in the next couple of weeks. Is there anyone else out there that is planning on attending this game? I would love to get together before the game and hoist a toast to the success of the Saints!

Canal Street Chronicles Canal Street Chronicles All-Time Saints Team

Now that Drew Brees has led the Saints to the promised land, isn't it time his name went on this list at QB?

While it is possible that someone in the future "may" be a greater QB for the Saints, there are only 1 or 2 QB'sin the past that could possibly be considered for this spot. And since none of them got the Saints to the Superbowl, let alone won it, Brees is the man for this list.

I know that everyone else on the list has already completed their playing time with the team, but I say "so what?"! Put Brees on the List!!!

Bleed Cubbie Blue Wagner to Cubs?

Has anyone else seen anything about this?

I found this story on msn: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9966794/Source:-Mets-lefty-Wagner-claimed-off-waivers

The Cubs are mentioned since we obviously need a closer. I personally think that we should keep Gordzilany in the rotation and move Dempster back to closer. However, if Wagner can returen to his pre-Tommy John surgury form, this might not be that bad of a deal.

Any thoughts?

Canal Street Chronicles Edgerrin James

Okay,

Awhile back we had the "Is LT coming to the Saints?" thread. Now that Edgerrin James has been released by the Cardinals, should we start the "Edge" watch?

I for one think that he would be a good addition to the team as long as he realizes that he is not and will not be the feature running back. I believe that he still has enough left to be a good 3rd down back, as well as giving PT and/or Reggie the occasional breather.

However, I also believe that the Saints should seriously look at resigning Duece to a 1 year deal and giving him another shot.

Thoughts?

Bleed Cubbie Blue My Cubs fandom Ebay auction

As promised in a previous diary, I am posting the link to this auction again now that the auction has ended.

Not only did this person not get any bids but they got some pretty nasty comments in the questions to the seller section. Hope no one from this list posted to theses comments.

Here is the link.

Bleed Cubbie Blue Retire Sammy as a Cub!

It seems that Sammy is talking about retiring.

What I would like to see is Sammy sign a "sign and retire" contract with the Cubs.

Regardless of how he left the team, he was one of the best players the Cubs have ever had.

And no, I do not want to get into a debate about whether or not he took steroids. There has never been any indication that he partook in roids, other than public opinion. And before you start in about "look at his body, look at his numbers", keep this in mind. Steroids DO NOT flush out of your system quickly. Case in point - there was a guy who popped last year (can't remember his name but I believe that he was with the Marineers though) who had taken steroids while he was in the minors to rehab an injury. He got caught. He did his time. He got called up to the majors. He popped again.

Habitual offender?? NO! It was proven through scientific testing that the steroids that he popped on the second time were the same roids that he was busted for the 1st time (steroids have a genitic signature, just like other designer drugs - I know that all roids are not designer but most are). Way reduced but still at a level to register on the test. The second positive was, I believe, something like 18 months after the 1st. By the way, he did his suspension.

So, if Sammy had taken roids, I believe that he would have popped positive.

Therefore, regardless of his ego and bad conduct towards the team at the end of his tenure, I would like to see Sammy retire as a Cub.

Bleed Cubbie Blue Is the season Over?????

Not yet!!! At least I haven't given up hope yet! With the impending returns of Nomar and Kerry and the (hopefully) soon return of Williamson, things should get better - Quickly!

However, if the team continues to keep playing the way it has recently (win 1, lose 2, win 2, lose 3, etc) and doesn't turn it around by the time of the next day off (the 18th), I beleive that the deficet will be to great to overcome. To many of the teams that are ahead of us in the Wild Card race are playing decent ball and decent to average playing is not gonna get it done.

I still have hope for the Cubs to make the playoffs this year but it is starting to dwindle. Fast!

As Larry the Cable guy says "Get R Done!!"

Bleed Cubbie Blue D. Lee - MVP, Triple Crown, What Else?

We all know that Derrick Lee is putting up MVP numbers, is on pace to capture the 1st National League Triple Crown in god knows how many years and is generally one of the best pick ups the Cubs have gotten in recent memory (mine at least). Grin

Has anyone else noticed his batting average though, besides in the context of leading the NL for the triple crown that is? With today's action (23 June) of 3 for 4, 2 HR's, 3 RBI's, 1 BB, he has raised his average to .395.

Does anyone else besides me think he has a shot of ending the season with a batting average over .400? I know this hasn't been done in forever but noone seems to be talking about it. Is it to soon to be thinking about this??

Enquiring minds want to know!!!
