Did you see Quick's save?
This is two days old, but I just saw it. I am guessing there must have been seem ice built up to change the direction. I wouldn't think there would be enough back spin, but I guess that's another theory.
Can someone answer this hockey question?
After a team scores the same line that just scored takes the ensuing face off. I have not played hockey so I am wondering why another line doesn't come out to take the face off to start a new shift? On occassion I have seen a new line come out, but very rarely. I figured the line that just scored gets rewarded with extra time, but I don't think that's the true answer.
Is Nabokov being treated fairly?
Understandably Nabokov didn't report to the Islanders and doesn't plan to so the Islanders suspended him yesterday. I don't get the Islanders point of picking him up, and ultimately forcing the issue. Clearly with Nabokov's age he is in his last days of playing. The odds are that the Islanders are not going to make the playoffs so why not play younger goalies that may have a shot at staying with them for the long haul? On the other side of it why deny Nabokov a last chance of playing for a playoff team and a chance to win the cup? I have no ties to Nabokov or the Red Wings, however, I just think it is unjust to deny him the opportunity to play for the ultimate prize.
What does this mean?
The NHL will fine the Toronto Maple Leafs an undisclosed sum after coach Ron Wilson put "money on the board" in San Jose, two sources told ESPN.com Thursday.
Players routinely put money on the board before games when there's something personal or meaningful about the matchup.
Wilson picked up his 600th NHL win Tuesday night, a 4-2 victory that meant a lot coming against his former team, which he coached for more than four seasons. Before the game, he reportedly put money on the board for his players to get the win.
Your Captain and Assistant Captains are....
"Thankfully, we have lots of players that have led the young ones," Rutherford said, noting the roles that center Eric Staal, defenseman Tim Gleason, and in the near future, young center Brandon Sutter, will have to play.

From remarks I have read on this blog over the last few weeks it seems a lot of folks are upset with the direction of the budget this year, however, I believe the org has laid a good foundation and I am really excited to see this team evolve over the next few years.
Have a great 4th of July weekend!
Emperor shout out
I used one of my vouchers so I ended up sitting in section 124 Monday and on the first shift for Gleason there was a break in the action and a little girl shouted out Gleason for Emperor about two rows back from me. Also, I saw someone holding up a sign in 125 that read Haike Paille or whatever that Finnish phrase is. Does anybody want to claim these outbursts? If not, CC sure is making it around.
Babchuck being moved?
According to Pierre LeBrun at ESPN Rutherford told Babchuck's agent if he found a team interested he would be willing to deal him.
"I told his agent that if he finds a team that is interested enough that I'd be willing to move him," Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford told ESPN.com on Wednesday.
There is also the possibility of an offer sheet.
"I don't know, that's certainly within the CBA, and they're certainly within their rights to do that," Rutherford added.
