AL Manager of the Year
I am going out on a limb and saying that it should be Cito Gaston. Now I am a Jays fan but this is in no way being a homer. Part of being a manager is knowing your teams strengths and weaknesses as well as managing in-game. While Cito falls short at being good at the latter, he definately showed that he is great at recognizing the former. Everyone, including myself, had the Jays pinned for at least 90 losses and possibly 100 after the off season trade of star pitcher Roy "Doc" Halladay. Cito recognized that this team was only going to score by hitting a ton of homeruns.
I can't say that I believe there is any other candidate worth mentioning. Noone stood out much. Ron Washington in Texas did a great job but plays in a weak division where the other 3 teams all finished below .500.
Jose Bautista
He just hit #30 and 2nd of the game against Baltimore tonight. He's also driven in 5 tonight and 75 for the season. I think it's about time people start taking notice if they haven't already. I guess when you pull 90% of the pitches you try to hit, you're going to end up with a low BA unless you manage to find gaps with line drives.
Who would have though he'd be leading the majors in homeruns this year, right now?
Las Vegas
Talk about getting spanked at home. They lost 21-4 to Portland (AAA team of the Padres). Merkin Valdez started and gave up 12 runs all earned.Zach Jackson and Steven Register didn't fair much better. Roenicke pitched the 8th, gave up 1 hit and k'd 1. Jason Lane, yes, OF Jason Lane pitched the 9th and allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits to close out Portlands night. All in all, Vegas pitchers allowed a whopping 34 hits.
What an ugly game to possibly have witnessed if anyone was there.
5/30 MiLB
Well Charlotte and Dunedin got started early today because of a double dip. Joel Carreno pitched Game 1 for my Jays going 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 runs(earned), walking 4 and strikeing out 10. He also had 4 fly out and no ground outs and picked off Tim Beckham at 1st.

He made his first re-hab start today for Dunedin getting the win and throwing seven innings of four hit ball, walking a couple and strikeing out five. He had a GO:AO of 12:3. Good for a first start but he'd be better off in New Hampshire or Las Vegas. Does anyone know of a possible timetable for his return to the majors? It would be nice if he could return by mid-season
i need opinions on a trade offer that i made
Miguel Montero and Jeurys Familia for Martin Perez and Taylor Teagarden
Is the difference between Perez and Familia that much greater than the difference between Montero and Teagarden? Do I ask for Jenrry Mejia instead of Jeurys Familia or is the trade not worth it at all?
I believe that Miguel is a significant upgrade over Teagarden and that Familia isn't all that much worse than Perez. I realize that Familia doesn't have Perezs' stuff but I do believe that he has the potential.
