The Spurs signed him for $8 million over 2 years. Wouldn't it be nice to have a bench that can help win games, but not affect the good players' salaries?

Sham: When villifying Jerry Reinsdorf, bear three things in mind

This isn't a defense of Reinsdorf et al, for there remains a middle ground that they don't seem to want to give. But it is some context - in the world of sports ownership, you just don't get philanthropists willing to incur massive losses on the off-chance that it all works out. It just doesn't happen. Even the Atlanta Braves and New York Knicks cut back.

It really doesn't happen. If you are angry that the Bulls have not chosen to be one of the few exceptions to this long established rule, then fine, but you'll be angry for the rest of your life. This is just how it is. If you want to enjoy sports, accept it.

This is the kind of owner-speak that should worry fans

This is the kind of owner-speak that should worry fans

Michael Heisley, a proven, true, legitimate meddler. Via TrueHoop.
"The fans want a team that's winning," Heisley said. "There's a lot of discussion about style. But you don't hear the fans in San Antonio saying we don't run. Or the fans in Detroit saying we don't run. They're saying we win, and they're happy with that situation.

"I'm not saying that an up-tempo team isn't fantastic to watch. I love it, too. If you can be up-tempo and win that's great. I'm saying you've got to be up-tempo and play defense. We definitely need to improve on our defense."

So enough of the 'Jerry Reinsdorf said he likes defense and ball movement' crap. There's a big difference between Heisley's history of mismanagement, and placating to fans of d-fence in Chicago.
