Blazer's Edge management is a huge problem

Shouldn't have re-signed Nate. Especially when Adelman was available. Look what he's doing in Minnesota. Maybe they can redeem themselves by adding Jerry Sloan. Unlike Nate he's been past the 1st round once or twice.

Why did we get rid of Webster? Luke Babbit is a bum. I'd rather have John Wayne Bobbit.

Whose idea was it to draft Nolan Smith over Kenneth Faried. Faried is playing solid. We could use his beef. Maybe we can cut one of the many bums we have and sign Balkman. He's just been released.

And why do we keep trading our PGs. Jack and Bayless are both quality players. Our only hope is make several trades. The first priority should be Felton. He is the worst starting point guard in the league. I don't care who is coaching.

I'd resign Batum too. He's a star in the making.

Blazer's Edge Who will the Blazers trade for?

Who do you think the Blazers should make a trade for? Be realistic. Don't say Carmelo. I'm sick of hearing about that guy.

Will it be an all star or a complimentary piece?

I have no idea. What goes on in Cho's head is a mystery.

If I could make one realistic deal, I'd try to grab Jason Thompson. He's young and he's long and was a lottery pick a few years back. We certainly need the height. I think he'd be a great addition.

Mavs Moneyball trade drawer - nash and grant hill

I like the Mavs. Unfortunately I've read a whole bunch of the Mavs potential trade moves -- and heard them on TV -- and I don't think they're realistic. If I had the choice of making a deal I would trade Butler's contract, Roddy Beaubois, some cash and this season's draft pick for Nash and Grant Hill. The Suns claim to love Nash, the face of the franchise. If so they need to be realistic and know they are just making up the numbers. There is no chance the Suns make the playoffs. No chance. If by some miracle they do, they'll get smashed. Is this what they want for there star franchise player? To go out without a blip. Dirk needs to call his buddy and tell him to request a trade to Dallas asap. Nash has this season and next season on his contract. So does Kidd. Grant Hill's expires this year, but if the Mavs don't win it all this year (which will be sad) they can always extend and give it one more shot. Hill is still an awesome one on one player who can cross people up and score in bunches. We all know how good Nash is. The Mavs can maybe even resign Butler if he is bought out, I don't know. What I do know is life is short. I'm sick of the Lakers and Celtics winning it. The Mavs have to roll the dice and go for it. Dirk and the boys ain't getting any younger. It's now or never.

Blazer's Edge trade drawer - aaron brooks

I'd love the blazers to make a trade for aaron brooks. not only is he an oregon native he's on of the few guys with a great handle, that can cross players over and score from any angle on the court. the blazers need a player like that. look what wade did to us the other day. we need a hot offensive weapon. brooks is it.

i'd trade batum and dre miller to houston for brooks and 6'11 jared jeffries.

i'd also try to swap the latest of out two draft picks for houston's. hey, ya never know.

go blazers

Blazer's Edge trade drawer - jameer nelson

Watching the Orlando Magic game the other day the commentators mentioned repeatedly the Magic needed a backup center now that Gortat is gone. That's the missing piece, as Howard is regularly in foul trouble and Gortat has always played well in his absence.

Good.

The Blazers have the perfect backup center. His name is Joel Pryzbilla. And his contract is almost identicle to that of Jameer Nelson. Joel's contract is expiring (something the Magic need due to their massive salary cap). Throw in a 1st round pick and I can definitely see the magic agreeing to such a deal.

Jameer is a quality PG and an excellent 3pt shooter. Something the Blazers need.

I wouldn't give up Batum in all the rumored deals that I've read on the net. He young and talented. And definitely not for Devin Harris. We can do better. Jameer is better.

As for Andre Miller. I'd try and work out a deal with Sacramento. They need leadership and the Blazers need Jason Thompson

Blazer's Edge Trade Drawer

Brandon Roy is hoping for a trade and so am I.

Cho supposedly made a call to Atlanta for Crawford. Why? We can grab him next year as FA. He's a Seattle guy and great friends with Roy.

But the Atlanta call is not the call I would have made. I would've called Memphis and enquired about OJ Mayo and Thabeet. I would've offered Dre Miller, Rudy Fernandez, the rights to Claver and the higher of our two first round picks next season.

Memphis need all the money they have to resign Zbo and Marc Gasol. Gay and Conley were given huge deals. So financially the trade is good for them. It gets OJ and Thabeet off the books. Rudy gets to be with a spaniol buddy, they get another spaniol in Claver and a first rounder.

We get OJ who I think is a great outside shooter and will keep defences honest to assist Roy. His stats last season were quality. Check out his 3pt shooting %.  This season he's stuck on the bench and playing 10 minutes less per game. They tried using him as PG in preseason with mixed resluts. Who says he has to play PG with the Blazers. he and Brandon can take turns. Thabeet also adds big man depth and relief. He has a team option in a year and a half, so if he sucks we wont pick up the option.

The deal can be altered if the Blazers think giving up a 1st rounder is too much. Maybe add Elliot Williams instead.

But I recall Paul Allen saying he was sick of first round exits. If so we need to make a deal. Now.

Time to earn your money Cho.

I'd also give Houston a call and make enquries about Oregon native Brooks. With Lowry playing so well and Brooks being a FA we can easily acquire next season, it wouldn't hurt to ask what they'd want for him.

Blazer's Edge Good news - Jamal Crawford wants an extention or to be traded

I'm a big fan of Jamal and I'd love the Blazers to trade for him. I doubt the Hawks will extend him. They're not even a top five eastern conference team and if you're not in the top five you're just making up the numbers.

In all likelyhood it's splitsville for Melo and the Nugs so there is a high possibility that Billups could be available. He'll want to go to a contender... that sounds like the blazers to me. And even though we are division rivals if Melo jumps ship I doubt the Denver brass will be overly concerned.

And I freely admit I'm a fan of Kirk Hinrich who the Blazers could also get via a trade.

Personally I'd love to grab Crawford the most. He and Roy would make a sick backcourt. Plus Jamal would give us the added 3pt threat we need. We grab him, we grab the 2011 championship.

But maybe we can get more than one of the above listed players. The Blazers have the assets, the Euros playing overseas, the expiring contracts and future picks. Surely Cho can wheel and deal and get two players. I'm a Joel fan but I would trade him (along with whoever and some cash... Allen can afford it) with the hope that the other team buys him out and he'll resign with us. Cho said he won't be back until Nov/Dec so it would work.

Dre Miller and Rudy would have to be involved in any trade... possibly Elliot Williams and Patty Mills and even Bayless... who knows. And like I mentioned, we have three Euros playing overseason. A deal or two can definitely be done. But I'm not the GM. Non of us are. It's Cho and I want to see how good he really is!!!

Anyway, what deals would you offer for the above mentioned players... if they become available? Who would you prefer?

Blazer's Edge another rudy fernandez trade drawer

Yeah, yeah. Another Fernandez trade drawer. But what else is there to talk about?

There has been heaps of trade speculation over the last few weeks about what teams may have offered the Blazers for Rudy. Bulls and Celtics - 1st round pick. The Knicks - Wilson Chandler.

I hope the Blazers trade Rudy soon and, if it were me, I'd trade him, Miller, our 2011 1st round pick and the rights to Victor Claver to Washington for Hinrich and their 2nd rounder.

Some people may say a 1st rounder is too much to give up. I don't. It'll be in the late 20's (hopefully 30) so who cares. If Washington dosen't want Rudy then they can trade him to the bulls or celtics for their 1st round pick offer or to the knicks for chandler.

Some people may also say Miller, Arenas and Wall might not work. Who is to say Arenas will be playing for Washington next season? Cleveland have the cap space and trade exemption to acquire him for little if nothing.

If not, Miller is an expring contract and the Wizards (who are rebuilding) get possibly two 1st round picks out of the deal (or Rudy and one 1st rounder) along with the rights to Claver, and free up heaps of cap space for next season.

I also think Hinrich would be an awesome fit for the Blazers and an even better backcourt partner for Roy. He can play both backcourt positions. He doesn't doesn't dominate the ball and, best of all, is one of the best defensive point guards in the NBA. His stats were just as good if not better than Miller's before Rose arrived...plus he is 5 years younger than Miller. Opposition point guards regularly kill the Blazers (check the box scores if you don't believe me) Monta Ellis has career nights against us. Nash did what he wanted in the playoffs. Wouldn't it be nice to have a defensive minded point gaurd who can shut down players like that?

I think so. We have enough young players. We don't need any more draft picks. And if for some stupid reason the Blazers swap Rudy for a first rounder, do we get the $3 mil we paid for that pick too?

Go Blazers!!!

Blazer's Edge Chauncey Billups - Trade Drawer

Carmelo Anthony is leaving Denver before the season begins. End of story. I don't know where, but it defintely won't be for Portland. Good. I don't wan't him here. We have Roy and Aldridge. They're our stars.

However, when Carmelo leaves the Nuggets poor old Chauncey will be left there by himself. He'll likely want out and want to be traded to a contender. And that contender should be the Blazers.

I just read that some point guard article by Blazersedge's Dave saying the Blazers aren't contenders and they're goal should be to get to the 2nd round. Get lost!!! The Blazers are contenders... not next season... not the season after... this season!

If we can acquire Billups we'll definitely win this years championship.

His contract is $13 mil.

The Blazers should offer Miller ($7.2mil) Fernandez ($1.2mil) Bayless ($2.2mil) and Mills (just under $1mil) plus next years first round pick and the rights to Victor Claver.

Under the NBA trade rules the deal works. (Even the espn tade machine)

Portland gets the veteran point guard who can shoot and play defense. An NBA champion. A player Nate even singled out as someone who he wished he could have on the Blazers.

Denver gets to reload with proven young talent and draft picks.

If this Cho guy wants to prove he isn't living in Pritchard's shadow then he has to pull off this deal.

Blazer's Edge When are the Blazers gonna make a trade?

So Cho has hired some assistants. Great.

He's fired some shooting coach. Wow.

Now how about making a trade for the Blazers instead.

We need either Jamal Crawford or Hinrich or even Jason Terry. Someone who can come off the bench and have an immediate impact.

I'd like to get Jamal the most. And the Blazers can easily aquire him too. He's an expiring contract. He and Roy are great friends that train in the offseason together. All Roy needs to do is whisper in his ear and tell him to force a trade to Portland. The Blazers would easily match any extention the Hawks will offer.

If it were me I'd offer Miller, Rudy, Elliot Williams, and one of our euro players to the Hawks to get him. The Hawks are not a top four team, maybe not even top five (i personally rate the Bucks better) so what's the point of have such a huge salary if you're just making up the numbers.

If the Hawks fall for it, they can trade Miller to Sac. They have the cap space and have been trying to get a quality point guard since the draft. The Hawks would then keep Rudy and Elliot and the euro player.

The Blazers can have a 3 guard rotation of Bayless, Roy and Jamal.

If that fails the Blazers could get Hinrich. And he would fit Nate's boring system.

Terry. I'm not so sure the Mavs would give him up... but with the injury to boobwah and kidd's age anything is possible.

Go Blazers!!!

And make a move Cho!!!!!

Blazer's Edge trade drawer - jamal crawford

Hi

I read on oregonlive the other day that Charles Barkley, attending a golf tournament, said the Blazers won't even be close to contending for a championship next season. The good news for Blazer fans is that Barkley said all last season the Cavs were going to win the championship.

In the same article my favourate player of all time Drexler, also attending the same golf tournament,  said the Blazers are one veteran away from contending for next season's title. I agree. And it got me thinking of which veteran the Blazers could realistically add that would do that.

The only two players that came to mind were (1) Jamal Crawford and (2) OJ Mayo.

Jamal is my prefered player by far. He's a pacific northwest guy. He's great friends with Brandon Roy, they train together off season and have been talking about playing together for years. The Hawks aren't going anywhere. They won't be a top 4 side in the east. All Jamal needs is a few whispers in his ear from Roy (ala Wade to Bosh and James) to ask management for a trade. He only has one year left on his deal and has been asking for an extention. If he leaves next season the Hawks will likely receive nothing whereas a trade with the Blazers will get them quality players in return.

(1) Jamal to the Blazers for Pryzibilla, Fernandez, and either Elliot Williams or Jared Bayless. The Blazers could even throw in Claver and some cash. Paul Allen can afford it. We don't need Claver. Small Forwards in the NBA are a dime a dozen and the Blazers have heaps. I also think Jamal, Andre and Roy would make a sick three guard rotation.

What we don't want to do with Rudy is trade him for a first rounder. We grabbed two this draft, three are overseas and we'll no doubt have another next draft. Plus we have four second rounders from this draft and last. We need veterans not picks.

(2) I'm not as high on OJ as I am Jamal but the guy can shoot and score and would also make a great three guard rotation with Andre and Roy as he can play both backcourt positions... although he isn't adept at point guard just yet.

I'd trade Bayless, Rudy, Elliot Williams, and even Claver for him. The Memphis bench is their weakness. Rudy can slip right in at the two, plus they add quality young players to their team.

Who knows. I just hope this Cho guys makes some moves soon and they are great moves.

Blazer's Edge the blazers need to make some moves

nba teams are signing free agents and making trades... except the blazers and its anoying the hell out me.

that matthews offer is a joke, i would rather use the MLE on someone better. al harrington maybe. i'm praying the jazz match, but i seriously doubt it.

anyway portland needs to make some moves and soon. a PF that can shoot would be nice. i like ryan anderson. would the magic give him up? and who for?

the blazers also need a top point guard. miller is solid. but he can't shoot and can't play d. we need to trade him with a player or two and get someone better in return. i really dont know who is out there we can realistically target. i like hinrich (some of you don't, i know that) but he can play d (was on all the nba 2nd team for d in 2007). he can shut down PGs that give us trouble eg: nash or brooks or monta or deron.

kirk is also a better shooter than andre and teams don't leave him open... unlike miller (check out the series vs the suns) he would be a better backcourt partner for roy as he doesnt dominate the ball like miller. i dont care what anyone says, the blazers will not win a championship with miller as the starting PG. not unless oden starts playing like dwight howard.

don't suggest cp3 or collison. we ain't getting them. i don't want mo williams either.

who else is out there? who can the blazers realistically trade with that will make us better?

i dont want the blazers to just be making up the numbers next season, or win the division or even win the west. i want them to win the championship, end of story.

i don't know about you but i definately don't want the heat or lakers to win it next year.

go blazers!!!

Blazer's Edge predicting when bosh is gonna propose to wade thread

my guess is the 8th of july. hopefully we'll get to see it in one of those dumb documentaries they're both shooting. bosh will get down on his knee, look into wade's eyes and say take me to a winning team, champ. despite the fact toronto had more talent than miami, i couldn't even take them to the playoffs. don't worry about a sign and trade. i don't need the 6th year. i bum for loose change.

bosh, you suck. i'd take lamarcus over your losing behind any day.

Blazer's Edge chris paul trade drawer

apparently, the hornets turned down the blazers offer of miller, pryzbilla, bayless, batum and the 22nd pick. I was thinking, if the blazers want CP3 that bad, they should add camby in the deal, along with next year's first round pick and take okafur and (hopefully) marcus thornton too. that would make sense if the hornets want to dump okafur's large salary.

okafur isn't as athletic as camby but he puts up quality numbers and is a quality defender. plus marcus thornton gives the blazers the outside shooting they need.

but who know what will happen during this free agency period. it's crazy out there.

go blazers!!!

Blazer's Edge trade drawer - blazers 76ers trade

philly wants to dump salary. the blazers should help them.

pryz, mills and cunningham to philly for kapono and green.

the trade works under nba rules and the trade alone will save philly approx $1.4 mil

dumping mills before june 30th will save philly just under $1 mil.

plus they can probably buy out joel's contract for something like $6mil and (if they want) the blazers can resign him using their bi-annual. So philly could save something like $4mil all up.

the blazers get a good PG along with a good SF who can shoot form area code range. both of which have expiring contracts by the way.

it's time the blazers started adding talent. i hate the lakers so much and we need to take them down.

go blazers!!!

Andre Miller and Rudy Fernandez to Toronto for Jose Calderon.

Calderon is a quality pg who can pass and shoot the ball well... especially from beyond the arc and will play very well with Brandon.

Miller is an expiring contract and Rudy is a good player who needs more playing time.

While I'm dreaming. Maybe Toronto would also be willing to swap their 13th pick for the Blazers 22nd pick, along with the rights too Freeland, Claver and Koponen. Who knows.

Blazer's Edge some questions about joel pryz

1) what is the date where a player has to declare wether they are opting to take their player option or declining?

2) and is it within the NBA rules for the Blazers to offer Joel a payday to decline his player option?

I like the guy, but I love the Blazers and being able to offer him such a payday to opt out may prove fruitful for the Blazers or a team in salary cap trouble if KP decides to trade him.

Thanks

Go Blazers!!!

Blazer's Edge offseason moves

I hope the Blazers make a few moves this offseason as I'd love them to be serious contenders next season. Like Mark Cuban said, it's always the same teams winning and I'm sick of it too.

From the interview posted on blazersedge it's obvious Rudy doesn't wan't to be here. He was just smart enough not to say so as he knows how hardcore true Blazer fans are. But that's cool.

Anyway, if I were the Blazers GM I would  trade Andre Miller, Rudy Fernandez and our 44th pick to the Bulls for Hinrich and their first round pick (giving the Blazers the 17th and 22nd picks)

I like Andre Miller but he can't shoot and his D is weak. Hinrich is a quality defender and, although his shooting is streaky, you have to respect his outside shot and thus spread the floor... something teams never did with Andre... allowing more room inside for the Blazer bigs. And like I said Rudy wants out of here so lets give him his wish.

Plus according the data on hoopshype Miller is an expiring contract and the trade would allow the Bulls to save nearly $2mil on salaries next season to help with signing a free agent... I say David Lee, who would be perfect with Noah in the front court.

Whatever happens, it's going to be a fun offseason.

Go Blazers!!!

I say the blazers trade Andre Miller, Travis Outlaw, the rights to Victor Claver (or our 2010 first round pick) to the Bulls for Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Gray... then Aaron Gray, Steve Blake our 2010 first round pick (or the rights to Victor Claver) to the Wizards for Brendan Haywood.

The salaries match and everyone gets something beneficial... at least I think so... but I'm biased.

If I were Pritchard I would make this move.

Blazer's Edge trade drawer

Injuries are killing the Blazers and I think we need to make a trade. Bayless has shown he belongs so I believe we need to trade either Miller or Blake or both. And the trade has to be realistic, with matching salaries etc.

I can only think of two realistic senerios.

1) trade Blake (along with $3 million dollars cash to buy out his contract) and our 2010 draft pick to the Bulls for Tyrus Thomas.

We could definitely use the help up front. The Bulls save the rest of Tyrus' contract this season ($4.7 mil) plus they obtain the sweetener of another draft pick. In all likelyhood, Tyrus is going to walk without the Bulls receiving anything in return. Saving this season's salary and acquiring Portland's draft pick may be a bonus. Who knows.

2) trade Miller and Blake (along with $3 million dollars cash to buy out Blake's contract) as I'm sure the Bulls wouldn't want two point guards, along with this season draft pick to Chicago for Hinrich and Aaron Gray.

The Blazers would obtain a defensive minded point guard who can shoot as well as Gray to help in our depleted front line. And Hinrich would definitely fit better into a three guard lineup with Bayless and Roy, that's for sure.

The Bulls (who are going nowhere this season) would save $4 million off this season's cap plus $2 million for next season, enabling them more leverage to go after free agents. They would also get Miller and this season draft pick. Plus Miller comes off the books a year earlier than Hinrich.

For me, that's the better deal of the two.

There maybe some people out there who want Bass. But the Magic already have 3 point gaurds and the only player who isn't injured for the Blazers, with a matching salary, is Blake. I doubt the Magic would want 4 point guards, especially Blake.

Go Blazers!!!

Blazer's Edge this road trip was a joke - KP make a move!

I can't believe we (the blazers) only went 1-3 on this road trip. Not only did we a blow a great lead against the Cavs we blew another great lead against the Bucks, and in overtime! This sucks! I am so frustrated and angry right now.

Can someone out there please explain to me why the hell Blake played 42 minutes. He shot  3 for 10 (1 for 7 from behind the arch) and contributed 1 assist. 1!!!

Then Andre Miller is playing 34 minutes shooting 2 for 12. Hey at least he added 7 assists, sadly it took two overtimes to do it.

Worst of all, we have those fools playing the majority of the 4th and two overtimes. Where was Webster? He was shooting the lights out. Where was Bayless? In 18 minutes he had 9 points and shot the ball extremely well.

I don't get it.

Pritchard, please do me and every other hardcore Blazer fan out there a huge favor and get rid of Blake and Miller. I'll take anyone. Well maybe not anyone.

Surely a gm of Pritchard's skill can at least get Hinrich and Gray from the Bulls by trading trading Miller, Blake and $3 mil cash (to buy out Blake's contract). The salaries are nearly identical. The Bulls will save $4 mil this year, and $2 mil the next to help with their free agent pursuits. And Miller comes off the books a year earlier than Hinrich.

Didn't a western conference scout say the Balzers needed a "mo williams type" to play in the back court with Roy. I think Hinrich can be that player. I know he isn't playing that well at the moment, but neither was Mo Williams when the Cavs traded for him. I think coming to Portland will be great for Hinrich ( he's a quality defender that can shoot the long ball) and the trade will also allow Bayless to play more minutes... which he definitely deserves. Plus Gray will help our depleted front line.

We should've grabbed Hinrich last year. I hope we don't blow another opportunity to get him again.

KP please make a trade!!!

Go Blazers!!!!!!

Blazer's Edge trade drawer

Unfortunately Kevin Pritchard said that there are no trades out there at the moment. I think there could be with the Bulls. Miller, Blake and Outlaw (the rights to Victor Claver or next years 1st round pick) plus $3 million dollars cash for Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas and Aaron Gray. The salaries are nearly a match. The Bulls get an extra $8 million in expiring contracts (which they would definitely put to good use next season) plus the rights to Claver (or next years pick) plus Miller comes of the books a year earlier than Hinrich at around $2 million cheaper and they can use the $3 million to assist in buying out Blake’s $4 million dollar contract. The Blazers get one of the better defensive point guards in the league who can shoot. And that would mean Bayless would get more playing time. I hope. They would also get Tyrus Thomas along with Gray, who would help at the five. Nate and Roy said they wanted bring in a beast at the 4 position. I think Tyrus qualifies. And he's due back soon. The Bulls haven't offered Tyrus a qualifying offer and will probably lose him for nothing. Is bringing in Tyrus a risky move? Definitely. But so what. To get ahead in life you have to risks and chances. You have to roll the dice. I think Tyrus will be an awesome aquisition. He’s long, athletic and, best of all, a game changer. I’m confident he’ll be a fantastic player for the Blazers, especially due to all the injuries. I do like Outlaw. But his numbers this season are crap, end of story, especially with his shooting % If you were an NBA general manager, who would you rather have on your team? Tyrus or Outlaw? For me, it’s Tyrus. So I hope we can make this trade with the Bulls. Go da Blazers!!!

Blazer's Edge I'd keep Miller and trade Blake

I'd keep Miller and Trade Steve Blake and his expiring contract, along with next year's first round pick, for Tryrus Thomas. The contracts match. Throw in some cash as well or even the rights to Victor Claver. Whatever it takes.

We have Webster and Rudy to offset any lack of outside shooting weakness on the part of Miller. Plus Roy and Bayless are pretty good outside shooters too.

This would solve the Miller/Blake who is starting dramas and give Bayless more of a run, whuch he has proven he deserves.

Also when healthy, Tyrus is a game changer. He can block shots, shoot from deep, play great defense. I think he'd be a great asset to the Blazers, especially when LMA plays the 5 in a smaller lineup. Tyrus would be a fantastic acquisition. He is super talented.

Who would want guys like Bass or Gortat on the Blazers. Those players don't change games. They're boring and ordinary. Tyrus is anything but.

If KP is going to make a move, I hope this is it.

Anyway. Go Blazers!!!

Blazer's Edge are the blazers in the hunt for Stephen Jackson?

if they aren't maybe they should be. the guy is sick. and if KP wanted to get him he could, easily.

Blake and Outlaw (two expiring contracts) plus the rights to claver for Jackson would work under the cap no problem... depending on which site you look at for team salaries.

maybe Jackson doesn't exactly fit in with the new team culture. so. the guy is one of the best perimiter defenders in this league, he's a veteran and an nba champion. he can play sf, sg, and pf. plus he could definitely shut down the melos and arizas of this league and show these blazers how to toughen up. i like the fact that he's got an attitude. the blazers need an attitude. they need to get mean. he's the guy to help them.

the move would also free up more playing time for dre miller and as much as i love webster, he's better off the bench.

if the blazers want to become contenders or mentioned in the same breaths as LA or San Antonio then they have to make a move. this is the move i'd make and paul allen can afford it.

GO BLAZERS!!!

Blazer's Edge what are NBA rules on trading recent signings?

Hi. Does anyone know what the NBA rules are on trading recent signings? And by that I mean free agents. Although I like Andre Miller, and I think he a quality point gaurd, I'm not convinced he meshes with Brandon Roy that well in the back court.

Obviously, I still wish we traded for Hinrich. If KP and the rest of the head office aren't convinced with Andre either, what's stopping them from making a realistic trade to the bulls.

Is there a rule that prevents this?

If there is no rule (although I'm pretty sure I read there is) why not make a move; Hinrich and Brad Miller for Miles' contract, Andre Miller and Steve Blake, plus our first round pick next year. (that's just an example by the way)

The contracts match.

The bulls get $14 million in expiring contracts, Andre, who has only one guanteed year after this, as well as a first round pick. That free cap space may come in handy if they want to pursue a top free agent next year such as Wade.

The Blazers get a guard who fits nate's style a bit better, plus he can shoot from deep, along with Brad Miller. I guess it would open up more playing time for bayless and rudy too.

Who knows.

Blazer's Edge Why not still trade for Hinrich?

Hi. I quite like the Miller signing although I'd sleep much better if he worked on his outside shooting this offseason. A point guard actually addressed a need. I think Hedo didn’t and only cared about the money and Milsap was too good to play backup.

About Hinrich: why not still try and trade for him. I know people are sick of hearing about the guy but I think he, Roy and Miller would make an awesome 3 guard rotation. Plus he can shoot threes, plays really good defence and has shown he can come off the bench and be very effective.

What would it take to get him? I think Blake, Bayless and next years draft pick. Maybe the blazers can add some cash or what's left of the three million dollar exception we obtained from the sacrament trade. We have 365 days to use it.

Plus Blake comes off the books next season. That means (according to hoopshype) a little over $30million comes off the bulls cap space next season. They can easily obtain a superstar free agent with the money they'll have left. Easily.

I think the bulls win and we (the blazers) win too.

I also think the blazers should trade Outlaw for Turiaf. Why spend more money on a free agent backup power forward? Their salaries match, Outlaw would thrive in Nelson's system and Turiaf in Nate's.

Let's see what happens.

See ya.

Oh yeah…

GO BLAZERS!
