Born in '52. Grew up in the Bay Area rooting for the Warriors but admiring Walton & Lucas. Gradually became a Blazer fan after moving to Portland in '86. I chose the "hurryup09" handle in '08, thinking that LMA, Roy, and Greg Oden would lead the Blazers to contention by the '09-'10 season. Sigh...

Will the Blazers ever be able to rebound?

I keep saying the Blazers just need to pick up a Millsap/Maxiell type (call him a "Maxsap") to come off the bench, and they'll be OK rebounding-wise.  After all, Oden is going to make a big...

Roy didn't appear 100%

All I've been hearing is how badly LeBron outplayed Roy down the stretch last night.  Am I the only one who felt Roy wasn't anywhere near 100%?

Let's buy a home gym for Frye

First, I love the Buffet of Goodness.  Really I do.  But everytime he gets the ball in the paint, I want to cover my eyes.  I mean, he almost NEVER finishes in there!  How many 6-11 guys would you...

Trout takes the last shot

OK, I have to be honest.  When they cleared out for Travis to take the last shot in overtime, I was screaming at the screen, "NO, NO, NO: I don't like this at ALL!!"

Was the Celtics loss a bad thing?

I admit, I really expected the Blazers to shock the basketball world and win tonight.  But having seen the game, I'm not sure the loss was a bad thing.

Oden/Kobe graft or midget GO

Who would you want on the Blazers?  Greg Oden's body with Kobe Bryant's rapist brain implanted in his skull, or our loveable, high-character GO shrunken by a witch doctor to midget proportions?

Did Ainge Really Get the Best of McHale?

Back when the Celtics obtained Kevin Garnett from the Wolves--for Theo Ratliff, a bunch of no-name kids, a pair of draft picks, and cash-- practically everyone said Danny Ainge had taken advantage...

Does Kevin Pritchard dream the impossible dream?

I have this theory--backed by virtually no evidence--that deep in KP's scheming brain he hopes to someday have his cake and eat it too.  I'm talking about having both Greg Oden AND Kevin Durant in...

What about that Trout dunk attempt?!!

I haven't heard much talk about Outlaw's dunk attempt in the fourth quarter last night.  Boozer fouled him, causing a miss, and Travis proceeded to can a pair of free throws.  Ultimately it was...

Matching up with the Jazz

In the 12-7 Quick chat, JQ says the team the Blazers are keeping their eye on is the Utah Jazz.  The reason: that's the team that's likely to be on top in the West when the Blazers' championship...

New wrinkles for TNT broadcast

When I read about the new wrinkles for the TNT broadcast, I thought, "BAD idea!"  But after watching, my take was, "Mixed bag."

Alley-oop coach

Jorga posted a question the other day about whether the Blazers should hire additional assistant coaches.  She pointed out that a number of Blazers didn't log enough time in college (if they...

Let's all praise Shaq!

Hah: I knew that title would rope in some blazeredgers!  But I mean it in all sincerity, mainly because, as I recall, Shaq has punched exactly one opponent in his career: BRAD MILLER!

Encouraging loss?

I feared the Blazers wouldn't have much fight in them after all those road losses.  But with the exception of the usual Outlaw brain-freezes at the defensive end, I thought the Blazers played well...

Where's the beef?

It's been apparent for some time that the Blazers just aren't physical enough.  They got pounded on the boards last season, and they've since lost two of the most physical players from that...

The Washington Generals

I've been watching NBA games for a very, very long time.  But last night's Blazers game left me wondering whether I've been really seeing the game at all--or rather, whether I've been letting...
