yet another trade proposal
only a few days left to try to trade jared jeffries. the mavs are obviously in win now mode and they have erick (why does he need both a c and a k?) dampier's contract which is not guaranteed for next year. so my idea:
david lee and jared jeffries for erick dampier.
i know we give up our best player and a guy who has become a solid role player for an injured big man who doesnt care that much about basketball, but it seems at least realistic if we're serious about shedding this contract. no one seems to want nate enough or a deal would've been done by now and odds are that we wouldnt retain Lee this summer anyway. dallas would become a real threat to win the title (kidd, terry, dirk, butler, haywood, lee, beubois, and matrix might be the best 1-8 in the league) and we know cuban isn't scared to throw around some money so maybe Lee waves his no trade and goes there in hopes of resigning for a good amount.
D'Antoni/Nash Debate
I remember when those two were blowing up with the Suns there was this debate as to who was more integral in the success of the other. Doesn't it seem like that debate is entirely silly now? Nash is piling up wins again - under Alvin Gentry - and D'Antoni is really struggling mightily to get the Knicks playing any kind of consistent basketball. Gentry definitely isn't some kind of coaching mastermind - it seems like the only reason he's even coaching that team is because Sarver is a cheap dude who didn't want pay another established head coach while he still owed Terry Porter money. To be fair, no coach would be able to get our crap collection of talent to be all that successful. It just seems clear that D'Antoni needs a Nash type point guard more than Nash needs D'Antoni.
