I grew up in Pittsburgh when the only Steeler excitement was Bobby Layne ending his career on a dismal Steeler team. John Henry Johnson came along and gave hope for Steeler fans that the AFL would make the big show. I lost touch with the team after JHJ until word of the Steel Curtain was on the sport pages of the west coast where I was living. I am now in Giant territory and believe football is the only true team activity where the plans of team management are on display over and over again.
