One Bronco Nation Under God Kellen Moore screwed out of Davey Obrien Award

What a joke the Davey Obrien Award is! They feign fan participation by letting fans vote on their favorite in the first two rounds and among the finalists. The results are in no way reflected in the final selection.

One Bronco Nation Under God Boise State's Strength of Schedule

<!--StartFragment-->

<!--EndFragment--> <!--StartFragment-->

What is all this crap about Boise State’s weak shedule?  The Jeff Sagarin ratings thru Oct. 8, (Sagarin makes up 1/5 of the BCS computation), ranks Boise State as 4th in the Nation.  He ranks BSU’s strength of schedule as 18th in the FBS.  Remember, there are 120 FBS schools.  By comparison, he ranks Oklahoma 19th, Alabama 23rd, Wisconsin 109th, Stanford 92nd, Oregon 43rd and Arkansas 60th. According to Sagarin, the only team in the top 10 with a better strength of schedule is LSU (11).

How does he arrive at such an outrageous conclusion about Boise State?  Well, he compare opponents strength of schedule.  Here are the rankings of Boise State’s opponent’s strength of schedule:  Tulsa 1, Nevada 3, Georgia 13, Toledo 25, UNLV 34, Fresno State 35, San Jose State 36 – all in the top 1/3 in the FBS.

One Bronco Nation Under God Vote for Kellen for Davey Obrien Award

The Davey Obrien Award honors candidates who exemplify Davey Obrien's enduring character while exhibiting teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership in both academics and athletics.  Can you believe that last year's winner was Cam Newton?

But Kellen has a good chance this year.

One Bronco Nation Under God How will Ohio State situation affect BSU

Fans have long complained that the little guys get zapped while the big boys get away with murder.  Is that changing?

One Bronco Nation Under God Longshot Rose Bowl for BSU?

Chad Cripe mentioned the avenue in this morning's Statesman.  If the Rose Bowl loses either the Pac 10 or Big 10 teams to the BCS Championship game, THEY ARE OBLIGATED to take a qualifying Non AQ School which would be TCU or BSU.

One Bronco Nation Under God Bias Free Computer Rankings Appreciate BSU

It is funny to hear the pundits apply their bias to relative standings of non-AQ schools, particularly BSU. The human polls continue to reflect regional bias and political practicality (coaches poll).  Apparently, they don't bother to consult the unbiased computer rankings.

One Bronco Nation Under God Establish fund for Graham buyout!

What kind of a contract gives Greg Graham $363K if he is fired and only requires him to pay BSU less than 1/2 that amount if he decides to leave?  If money is the problem, maybe we can help!

One Bronco Nation Under God Fake Punts and Onside Kicks

It is amazing that all the talking heads, sports babblers and pundits are praising the "well conceived", "well calculated" and "gutsy" onside kick call by Sean Payton Sunday in the Super Bowl.

If you remember, only recently these same people were universally reporting in a demeaning manner Chris Peterson's fake punt call in the Fiesta Bowl as sandlot "trickery or trickeration"!

If the plays are called and executed by commonly accepted top tier teams, sportscasters and sportswriters fawn over them.

I'd wager that the aggressive play calling by Boise State over the years has not gone unnoticed and has had some small amount of influence on such play calling by BCS and pro coaches.

One Bronco Nation Under God Virginia Tech Game date change bad for BSU Fans

Money and ESPN are probably going to insure that this will be a home game for Virginia Tech.  Travel difficulties on a Holiday weekend will be nightmares for BSU fans, i.e. forget airfare, hotel and car rental deals.

On the other hand, this is a home game for the Hokies.  Landover, MD. is a mere 300 miles from VT, like a trip for us to Lewiston or Idaho Falls.  So if they change the dates, look for a stadium full of crimson and a smattering of blue and orange.

And...Oh yes!  Do any of you remember the heat and humidity of the Georgia game.  This will be more of the same.
