Heading to St. Louis - Go Z!!

I was so excited to hear that Z would return tonight! I've had my July 4th tix in hand for a few months now, what a wonderful surprise to have 1) Zambrano back, 2) Ramirez back and 3) Edmonds in St. Louis for the first time as a Cub. I can't wait to experience the reception he gets (especially if he gets a big hit!).

Z is the 'losing streak stopper' and the heart and soul of the team. I'd love to see him go a strong 6 or 7 tonight (I'm sure they'll keep his pitch count low) with a Eyre/Marmol/Wood close.

A-Ram being back should provide lift too and it sounds like Soriano will be there to support the team too.

"Hated" Cubs?

After hearing this story about Milton Bradley it made me wonder if the Cubs have ever had an "hated" player (ala Bonds, Kent...) players that the MLB fan-world hates.

Apparently, some broadcaster was loving all over Josh Hamilton (who I'm tired of hearing about) and contrasted his feel good story with Milton. Said in essence that Milton is the anti-Josh....doing nothing to win over baseball fans.

So....after MB gets done storming to the booth to confront the guy he breaks down in tears and talks about being misunderstood.

Milt - you just don't get it, do you???

WGN and Geometry

Only highlight of the game this afternoon was the announcers on WGN ripping on the ball girl down the 3rd base line. They called her out for 'not having played a ball correctly off the wall all game' and accused her of skipping class when angles of deflection were covered.

Right after they get done making fun of this girl she fields one cleanly then tosses it to a boy in the stands. The guys were on a roll and said that she did a nice job on that ball 'unless she'd already given that kid two balls today'

Iowa Cubs v Memphis Redbirds

Got a gift in the mail yesterday from the Memphis Redbirds box office.....two tickets each for five upcoming games at Autozone Park. (If you're wondering why....it's because I arranged a 'group event' there last month for my child's softball team).

Two of the five games are against the Iowa Cubs. It's always fun to go to the AAA Cardinals park and wear my Cubs gear!

Do any of the BCB faithful live down here and go to these games?

By the way...if you've never been...Autozone Park is a great place to watch baseball. The park is clean, the food is good (BBQ Pork nachos with jalepenos are the BEST) and the ushers friendly. The view over the outfield wall could be nicer (Memphis has an awful skyline) but that's the only real beef. You're only a couple blocks from Beale Street too so post-game fun is hardly an issue. I recommend stopping by if you're in town!

Looking for Tickets in St. Louis

The game is sold out and the tickets on Stubhub are outrageously priced. @%^@^!@!!@#$ gougers.
