Double-T Nation A&M game replay

Wanted to post this in case anyone wanted to watch the replay of the game.  AggieAthletics post the entire first half and second half on their website.  I haven't watched so can't speak to quality or editing.  I'll keep my commentary out of this and just give you the link.  Under "most recent", look around middle of the page.  If you are like me, I came away wanting to see how this game got away from us so quickly.  Jury out on whether or not I can actually decide to watch...

So I'll admit it doesn't take much for me to break in to conspiracy and start looking for helicopters that aren't there. But explain how only Baylor and Tech have both UT and OU on the road in the same year? I guess the flip side is we get both at home the following year. Still working on how I feel about this...

No offense Auburn fans, but how is a conference primetime game not a better choice than Clemson vs Auburn??? I hope that game ends with a 6-3 final score.

Double-T Nation Possible 10-team Big12 deal bad for Tech

So I can't verify this is accurate, but if so this would be awful for Tech.  According to OB.com, the new deal would pay UT, OU and TAMU $20 per year in TV revenue.  The remaining 7 teams would be paid btw $14-17M per year.

According to sources, the deal will mean more money for Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, who all stand receive $20 million from the new deal. The other seven schools in the Big 12 would make between $14 million and $17 million, but would nearly double what they currently receive in TV revenue (roughly $7 million to $9 million).

How exactly is this a good deal?  Both Tech and OSU stood to make approx $20 along with EVERY other school in a PAC-16 deal.  Now we are apparently considering an agreement that could pay out as much as $6M less than 1/3 of the teams in our conference.  This is deal-killer material if I have ever seen it IMO.

So Reggie Bush settles lawsuit the day prior to his deposition. Had the deposition happened, the NCAA would have had access to the testimony and would have been able to use in their investigation of USC. At this point, I'm very interested to see the NCAA's decision...

Double-T Nation Attention Please. Want to have some fun???

With all due respect and reverence to everything going on over the past month, I thought I would throw out an idea and see if we can have some fun.

If there is one thing we can all probably agree on, it is the fact that the 4 or 5 (my case 5.5) years we spent at Tech were some of the most fun and likely irresponsible years of our lives.

Given the wide-range of age groups and years (60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, etc.) spent in Lubbock, I thought it would be fun to take a minute a educate one another.

So if you want to participate, without further explanation:

Name your favorite Bar, Pub, Nightclub and any details of the establishment from when you were in school (drink specials, special drinks, any unique features, etc).  Also, if there was a particular night for a specific location throw that in as well (i.e. Midnight Rodeo on Wednesday nights).

Let's have some fun....

Double-T Nation BIG12 Chat with Tim Griffin at 11:00am CST today

Would like to encourage anyone who has been upset with ESPN to get on and try to voice your displeasure in the form of a question.  Here is the link as well as the question I submitted.  Doubtful it will be read.

http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/8975/big-12-chat-has-been-changed-to-12-p-m-et

Tim - Any chance those in charge at ESPN could make at least a little effort at some fair reporting around the Mike Leach firing?  ESPN's reporting and "sources close to the situation" have been completely biased and unfair.  Curious about your assessment of how this has played out via the various ESPN outlets and if you think the WWL has been fair to both sides of the story???

Double-T Nation Email Chancellor Hance

For those of you like me that think the administration has acted too quickly in suspending coach Leach, I wanted to provide the e-mail address for Chancellor Hance's office.

I seriously doubt he will either read or even receive my note, but I feel better having stated my support for coach Leach.

I have read many reports and from the comments on espn, the majority of the support is in favor of coach Leach.
There are also some strongly worded comments regarding Craig James.  I am not here to rehash any of that, but I do feel it is important to make your voices heard if you feel strongly about our coach.

IMO, the folks making these decisions need to consider the fans and the valid possibility of alienating the fan base if they move toward firing coach Leach.

Anyway, enough of my soapbox.  Here are the e-mail addresses:

Chancellor Hance = Chancellor@ttu.edu

Mike Leach = Mike.Leach@ttu.edu

Double-T Nation Texas Tech is NOT a rival....Really?

Interesting post on Big12 blog today on ESPN.  I found this interesting for several reasons.  I would like to say up-front that the Ag's won the game so to the winner goes the spoils.

That said, here are a few excerpts from the post that I found interesting.  Commentary below the quote is mine...

Full post found here:

http://espn.go.com/blog/big12

Quote from Sherman when asked about going to Colorado:

"Lubbock’s got a pretty good altitude up there," Sherman said. "There’s a lot of hot air up there, too. We had to deal with it."

--- Have to assume the "hot air" he refers to is coach Leach's various comments.  Clearly doesn't appear that Sherman has moved past some of the comments from coach Leach during the offseason.

OT Michael Shumard quote regarding taking a knee against Iowa St:

"That shows class," Shumard said. "I would hate to be a player for a team that would try and score with … 20 seconds left in the game. That would call time out to try and score."

--- I guess I can understand this frustration from the opposing sideline.  If you dig a little deeper, you uncover the other side of the story which was coach Leach hoping to reward his RB (Woods) for all of his effort on that drive. It was clear the replay booth wasn't going to review and he wanted to give them the opportunity to see whether or not Woods scored.  So not a stretch to see coach Leach was hoping for a reward for his player (as well as for the other 11 guys).  If you don't like it, then stop them and make them punt!

Lastly, I find it a little odd that they are taking time to discuss the Tech win after an impressive victory over Iowa St.  It was an impressive bounce back to be sure.  And clearly it was something that went a little deeper for Sherman and the Ag's to get that win.  Enjoy it while you can, Aggies.

Wreck 'em!!

Double-T Nation UT game - Need help from fellow Tech fans

Not sure if this is the right forum, but wanted to give you all a chance to be heard.  Friend at work does a webshow called TheLeeBurnette show (leeburnetteshow.com).  It is basically a "man on the street" type of show and some are funnier than others.

So he is planning to film prior to the Tech vs UT game and asked me for input from a Tech perspective.  He wants to have ideas and questions to give UT fans a hard time.  Full disclosure, he will likely do the same to Tech fans but it is all in fun.  But he is not a Tech or UT fan so the best material will likely be put in the show.

If you go watch his show, you'll see there is very little that is off-limits so fire away.  I'll compile any suggestions and pass them along.

First idea I had was to print a picture of the double T scoreboard from the end of the game last year and ask UT fans to say the first thing that comes to mind when they see this picture.  Should be fun!

Looking forward to a better performance this week, especially from the run game!

Go Tech
