Daily Norseman wr rollercoaster

i returned from a trip right during halftime of monday's game in N.Y. to hear the announcers talking about how terrible the Vikings offense looked in the 1st half, and how Farve was something like 4 of 1000 (it seemed like). then as i was watching the 2nd half begin, i see a lineup of Moss, Harvin, and Lewis. LEWIS??? really? is that really the best wr lineup we can field? i know that most are not happy with Berrian, but lets face it, not so long ago, he was listed as our #1 receiver. now he is behind Lewis? and why exactly did we trade for Camarillo? surely he has been here long enough now to have learned our system. do our coaches see something we don't?, or do they just not have a clue? did anyone else notice the reaction Lewis had when he caught that pass near the 20yrd line, he was so unsure of what to do, he almost forgot to run toward the endzone. i actually yelled at the tv trying to get him to run. with so much talk of our offense being out of sync, i have to wonder if the revolving door the coaches use at wr has anything to do with that. hopefully with Moss getting more familiar with Farve, Harvin feeling more comfortable in his game, the coaches getting Camarillo involved, and Farve not trying to force too much into Shank, (i.e. interception, & 2 point conv) it will all start clicking soon.  GO VIKES!!!

Daily Norseman So Tavaris, just what exaclty are you saying?

I recently found an article over on Viking Gab, that linked to a blog by Tavaris Jackson. Apparently, he only updates his blog every couple of month though. He has just made a statement on his blog that is a little confusing to me. Maybe I didn't read it right, or just took it differently. He is currently at home in Alabama with his family, not doing much at all, for which I don't really blame him. However, the statement that puzzled me, is that "I'm really not sweating if Brett comes back, or not, because I'm a free agent." He does say that "right now I still feel like a Viking, but I'm going to have to wait a while to see what is going to happen."
Now, it could just be me, but I feel that TJ might not be OK with Brett coming back, and if he does come back, TJ is looking to leave. I REALLY hope that he doesn't feel that way, because even though I have never been a big TJ fan, I have to believe that learning from the Master only will turn TJ into a better player. Seeing how young TJ is, and still how raw he is at the position, I would love to see him learn from Brett for "one more year" (quote I started a few weeks back on DN) What do the rest of the Viking faithful think?

Daily Norseman let's start a "one more year" campaign

Now, I'm pretty sure  that Brett Favre knows how his teammates, and the Viking organization feels about him coming back for another shot at the Superbowl, but I think, we as fans, need to let him feel the love from us. I had alot of thoughts, and ideas about how we could do that. Everything form trying to figure out a way to get 20,30, 40 thousand fans into MOA field and having a teleconference with Brett in Mississippi with the whole stadium, in unison chanting "one more year" (wouldn't that be awesome?) to having thousands of purple t-shirts printed with the same saying, selling them to fans, and then donating the money to Brett's favorite charity. But, i think in the end, the most plausible solution would be to simply write him a fan letter asking, or as in my case, begging him to come back "one more year". If anyone else has any ideas that might work, i would love to hear them.

p.s. does anyone know Brett's mailing address?

Daily Norseman UNBELIEVEABLE AND UNEXCEPTABLE

It's been less than 12hrs since game's end, very little sleep, and STILL a whole lot of angry frustration within myself. My beloved Vikings once again showed why being a Vikes fan can be so EXTREMELY frustrating. It was certainly a tale of 2 halves last night. Did anyone else have the same feeling that in the 1st half we were watching a offense of last year? Tavariscarried out the same game plan last year. A couple of runs, and then a short pass that had no chance. I bet that was a direct result of last week's spat between Favre & Childress. It looked an awful lot like Childress' play-calling from last year. I guess he wanted to show who's boss IMO.  However, last night was not the offense's fault. (except the peterson fumble) Although i'm sure that there are quite a few calling for the special team's coaches head today, last night was somewhat of a abnormalityfor this year. They had been pretty solid this year. However, the same can not be said for the defense. As much as it pains me to put the blame on the guys up front, i have to give them ALOT of it. Once again they were nowhere to be found playing against another inferior o-line. WHERE IS THE PRESSURE? Cutler could have made a sandwich back there and had a cup of tea. That of course creates the need for our d-backs to do some effective covering, which they seem not to be able to do. How often have we seen Griffin outplay Winfield? I'm not sure that Antoine is fully recovered, or if he has lost a step. (maybe 2) Unfortunately, i think i remember the Vikings having just resigned Madiue Williams to a new contract before the season began, so we are stuck with him. That being said, can someone PLEASE teach him how to play the position, & more importantly- TACKLE!!!
All is not lost though. Seeing our offense liven up and score 30 points in a half, shows we can still do it. Hopefully we have some momentum going from that.  Our defense needs to step up this week against he Giants and plant Manning on his rear OFTEN. Thanks for letting me rant and vent. GO VIKES!!!

Daily Norseman how will they react?

Wow, what a difference a few hours make. Up until monday night, all the fanpost were regarding who would win the starting qb job, now they have turned to which qb would stay, or if one would ask for a trade.

Although i have to admit that I am glad the Vikings signed Brett Favre, I have to wonder how misled. or betrayed Sage Rosenfels, and Tavaris Jackson feel. By the timeline that was given during interviews, it is apparent that Childress called Favre sometime on monday to ask him to captain the ship. The problem I have with that, is that as Childress himself reported, is that he did not meet with his qbs on the roster until tuesday am to inform them of Favre's impending arrival.

I don't know about how anyone else feels, but to me that is very unprofessional, and highly disrespectful. i recently had a situation like that at my place of employment where my supervisor changed my working hours, and when i met, or confronted him about why he wouldn't come and talk to me about it before deciding this his response was "i didn't feel i had to" What a blow to the gut! Childress reminds me of that excact situation. He should have been man enough to sit down with his players and inform them of their plans. NOT have the type of circus we experienced on tuesday.

I couldn't blame Rosenfels, or Jackson if they didn't want to be there anymore. I believe it would be good for them to stay and learn from one of the best qbs to play the game. Especially Jackson.

So far, it promises to be an interesting season. Let's hope it will end with a LONG eluded Superbowl VICTORY!
