UCLA offers 2012 PF Zena Edosomwan

The article linked is a Scout insider article. UCLA has made an offer to 2012 PF Zena Edosomwan, a 6'8" senior from Harvard-Westlake HS. Edosomwan has a number of offers already, including Cal, Wake Forest, USC, WSU, and others. He is currently ranked 31 (Rivals), 11 (Scout), and 21 (ESPN) out of all power forwards. Apparently a long and lean defensive player. A harbinger, good or bad, on Tony Parker's recruitment? Either way, I would rather Howland have a backup plan in place rather than pulling another Ray McCallum.

UCLA's Ben Howland: Reeves Nelson won't start "any time soon"

If Reeves Nelson is still "punished," perhaps Coach Howland needs to just suck it up and rescind his scholarship. I don't understand the point of benching your best player, if the behavior issues have already been addressed. They either have, or they haven't. And if they haven't, then Howland needs to stop screwing around. And as an aside, UCLA opens as 12-point favorite against Pepperdine tomorrow night. edit: read the odds wrong, UCLA is the favorite.

Arizona SF Sidiki Johnson suspended indefinitely

According to CBB blogger Neal Nieves, Johnson may be leaving the team altogether. This, just a day after Oregon SG Jabari Brown left Eugene.

Howland offers 2012 PG Amedeo Della Valle

Ben Howland has offered 2012 PG Amedeo Della Valle, a 4-star (Scout) / 3-star (Rivals) 6-6 guard from Findlay Prep. He already has Pac-12 offers from Cal, Arizona, and Utah, as well as offers from UConn, St. Mary's, and Creighton. Howland definitely needs another PG, and definitely one for the 2012 class. But I'm a little concerned with how this reflects on the Parker & Shabazz recruitment. I assumed Howland would have four scholies (Zeek, Anderson, K. Jones, and Nelson) at his disposal. Does this mean he anticipates a Smith departure, or that he won't land one of Parker/Shabazz?

SG Jabari Brown leaves Oregon

Five-star recruit and former Oakland Soldier Jabari Brown has left the University of Oregon. According to some reports on Addicted to Quack, all media featuring Brown has been pulled, so one can assume this is a permanent departure. Wonder what happened that Brown soured so quickly. Also wondering what his fellow Oakland Soldier Dominc Artis is thinking, assuming their connection had something to do with his departure from UCLA.
